NEW sci-fi RR!!!

NEW sci-fi RR!!! :D because I love these and I want to put one of my never-finished-novel-first-chapters to fun use since I'm never going to do anything with them. :) Here's the beginning, continue however you see fit. :)

“Knixca must return to Cindekia if we are to avoid war. She is the only one of us who has lived on Earth, and she must now act as ambassador between Earth and Cindekia. Otherwise all will be lost,” Ratri said. Laethra rolled her eyes.

“You’ve told me that about 5 billion times since you woke me up ten minutes ago. I get it. What I don’t get is why you keep telling me.”

“Because you’re the only one who can go get her. All the pilots answer to Oberon, many are even his spies. As his chief adviser, I must be with Oberon much of the time and my absence would be noted. You, being of royal blood and yet still underage, your word is law almost as much as that of the king. You have to go.” Laethra rolled her eyes again.

“So I’m not too important to be missed but I am important enough that I will be listened to if anything resembling a trial takes place. Is that what you’re saying?” she asked.

“Yes. Oberon wouldn’t place any charges against you, though. You’re his only child, according to him.” Ratri couldn’t keep the bitterness out of his voice.

“You are still his child. And so is Knixca. Even if he is too ignorant and spiteful to acknowledge it.” With that, Laethra kissed her older brother’s cheek and started to walk away. He started to call after her, but remembered what time of night it was and silenced himself before anyone heard.

Laethra went back from Ratri’s room to her own, which was slightly larger and much closer to the king’s chambers. Quiet as a cat, she changed out of her nightclothes  and into a pilot’s suit, which she was only still allowed to wear because her being underage. She put on the high-tech helmet and belt over the one-piece suit, and put on the heavy black boots.

Then, careful not to make any noise, she went quickly to the air hangar where her private ship sat waiting to fly. After grabbing a few weapons (just in case) she climbed aboard and fastened herself into the pilot’s seat. She maneuvered the ship toward the door of the hangar, which Ratri had opened for her earlier and would close again after she had gone.

“Here goes nothing,” she said, then took off into the midnight sky.

Laethra docked her ship in the port of the mini space station Knixca owned.  Why her older sister had decided to virtually become a hermit was still a mystery to many in the small country she was almost ruler of.  Knixca was never a people person, and Oberon loved Laethra much better, yet he refused to disown her.

Laethra stepped into the bio dome.  Knixca appeared in the doorway. "Earth apple, sister?" she asked politely.  Laethra accepted the apple.  She bit into it and winced at the taste.  She still had no idea how Knixca could've acquired a taste for Earth food.

Knixca laughed, a cackling sound cascading from her lips. "Still don't get their cuisine?" Laethra smiled. "Sister, I come with greetings from Ratri and Father."

She snorted.  "Like Father would ever greet me."

"Oh, he did," Laethra lied, "and he wants to send you on a mission to Earth."

toptoptop!! :)

Knixca eyed her younger sister warily. Finally, after weighing options in her head, she decided to accept.

"Fine," she told Laethra. "But only so long as I don't have to go see Father."

"Done," replied Laethra quickly. The two sisters went to the ship as Laethra explained the ambassador mission to her sister.
