Pirates of the

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Pirates of the

Pirates of the Carribean.

Opinions, people? My own:

As a book, it would not have been worth reading. Without Jack Sparrow, it wouldn't have been worth watching. The plot is completely messed up and hard to keep up with (I can, but my mom gave up halfway through the second movie). I feel like they sort of overestimate the audience, expecting it to read between the lines while trying to keep up with all the double-crossings.

But. Oh my gosh the actors are amazing and Sparrow&Barbossa=major fan girl squealing on my part. And the music is awesome.

Your thoughts?

Also, I haven't seen all of On Stranger Tides yet, I'm only at the part where either Sparrow or Barbossa (whichever one gets there first, I forgot who XD) arrive at Whitecap Bay. So no spoilers please.

Wait?  PotC was a book?  Now I can actually find out what is going on when people talk about it without giving in to modern appliances!  Mwahahaha.

I remember the Pirates of the Caribbean coming up on my Pandora Station, so I like the music too.

Oh, no, PotC was never a book (at least I hope not.) I said that because it's only good as a movie.

Personally I love the movies. You're right though Tiffany, without Jack it wouldn't be worth watching.

I laugh every time I see the White Camp Bay scene because of how completely idiotic they must be to go there if everyone's scared of it. (That isn't a spoiler because the guys on Barbosa's ship are scared to go before the wcb scene actually happens).

I agree, the only thing that made it worth watching was *Captain* Jack Sparrow. Because of him, though, I watch those movies as often as possible : ) Will Turner is a good reason too.

I only thought the first movie was good (and I love the first movie), and the rest....meh. But I never, never want to see On Stranger Tides. It sounds awful.

Well I liked it because there's finally a girl pirate.

And of course because they kept Jack when they got rid of Elizabeth and Wil.

Wow I just tried to post this comment without putting in my name.

Actually, my favorite is Dead Man's Chest and At World's End and Curse of the Black Pearl are in second. I hated all of On Stranger Tides  except for the Barbossa scenes. Angelica annoyed me, Blackbeard and his pirate voodoo were just weird, and the whole Philip-Syrena exchange was just bleh. I never thought I'd say this, but I'd take Turner over Philip any day. At least he falls in love with humans that he'd known most of his life, not mermaids that they knew for three days max.

Also, did I say I disliked the movies? If I did, I didn't mean it. You can admit that something has flaws and still enjoy it.

Girl pirates: Elizabeth would technically quallify as one in the second two movies, esp. At World's End. In the first movie, there's Annamaria, though she's not really an important character.

Again, I didn't like Angelica. At all.

I liked Curse of the Black Pearl best, because I think it makes the most sense out of all of them, and since it's the first one, it's really fresh. I liked Sparrow and Will and Elizabeth a lot, especially since Will had been in love with Elizabeth for so long and he hadn't admitted it yet. Personally, I think it could have ended there. I didn't really like Dead Man's Chest and World's End that much, and Stranger Tides was all right, but not great. The only thing I really liked was the kick butt mermaids. Talk about girl power!! Anyway, I love Orlando Bloom, but he just got old after awhile. So did Kiera Knightly. Johnny Depp of course, will always be awesome. I feel like they just made the other movies to make money.

Spoilers will follow, I'm sure of it:

I didn't like Curse of the Black Pearl as much as Dead Man's Chest because even though it made the most sense, it was the most cliched and unimaginative.  I mean, Love Interest Gets Kidnapped, Standard Hero Guy Goes to Find Her, There Are Battles, People Double-Cross Each Other, The Big Bad Is Killed, And They All Live Happily Ever After.

(until the second movie, where Beckett gate-crashes a wedding and Captain Jack Sparrow gets a warning and then everything basically goes downhill until you've got Elizabeth searching for Turner disguised as a guy and Turner searching for a key to  get Jack's compass to give it to Beckett who wants it to find the key to open the chest to get the heart to control Davy Jones, but Turner doesn't know that and wants to freee his Love Interest, who is disguised as a guy while searching for Turner and Turner is searching for a key....oh and he wants the key for Jack who wants to....oh dear.)

But in the end, the Black Pearl is attacked by a kraken, and everyone gets away, and Elizabeth double-crosses Jack, but Turner misunderstands it, and then she ties Jack to his ship and leaves him to die, which he does. (Oh my gosh. Someone with unaffected priorities. You never get them in movies. Well, almost never.) But then Tia Dalma *coughcough*Calypso*coughcough* brings back Barbossa who says something awesome, and so ends the second movie.

But that leaves ample room for a sequel, in which they all go to some guy from Singapore and ask him for a ship and everything's really complicated until they end up getting it. Then they all sail to Davy Jones' Locker and find Jack. Who says a bunch of totally awesome things and then some more totally awesome things and then there is hopeless despair and then he says something totally awesome to Turner and then he sees Elizabeth and magically changes his mind and then they all sail away from the Locker, then their ship flips over and Elizabeth sees her father at one point, who is dead, and then they've left the locker and yeah. And then there are more double crossings and things, and Elizabeth is made into a pirate captain and shows up at the Brethren Court. And then they all vote for president, uh, king. And everyone votes for themselves. Except for...Jack Sparrow, who votes for Elizabeth. And more stuff happens, and I can't remember it all except that Davy Jones at some point kills someone in a gruesome way, but then there is a battle and Jack Sparrow is dueling Davy Jones and Turner proposes to Elizabeth and Barbossa marries them on the spot WHILE THEY ARE BATTLING. A bunch of other stuff happens but Jack has the heart and Turner's there and so is Elizabeth and then Davy Jones kills Turner when nobody is expecting it. Unlike Norrington, who died very quickly, Turner gets to stay alive for a while, and Jack takes his hand and stabs the heart, but uses Turner's hand and Davy Jones goes splash. And then Turner is the next Davy Jones and spends some time with Elizabeth and his ship stops being all slimy and his crew isn't fish people anymore! Yay! And he frees his father, too.

And Jack is in Tortuga with two ladies, but then he sees Barbossa walk off I mean sail off with his ship...again. And then he steals something or something or other and he's searching for the fountain of youth. And then the credits start rolling and we see that Elizabeth and her adorable son are walking out to meet Turner, who is there! Yay! And then lalalalala yada yada yada.

Wow. I didn't expect that to happen. Pirates of the Carribean from Tiffany W.'s point of view. If anyone even enjoyed that, then I'll do On Stranger Tides later.

Of course.  A Disney thread pops up and it's about the one movie franchise I still need to watch.:)

I love the ride, though.  Anyone else been on that?
