November is coming

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

November is coming

November is coming up means NaNoWriMo is, too.

This year I decided to use Gail Carson Levine's writing practice idea from her book 'Writing Magic' about a girl who finds a diamond necklace on the seat of the school bus. I really want it to have some connection to fairies, but I don't know where to make that connection.

If anyone has ideas, I would LOVE to take them! I'm open to anything, just as long as I can get my story plot our before November.

The Necklace originates from the land of the fairies, and anyone who wears it can see into their world through mirrors.

I am going to try to convince my parents to let me do the junior NaNoWriMo, as I can not do the older one.

I did Camp Nano this summer, and I ALMOST ALMOST won. I'm gonna try for real Nano now, so I will probably be floating somewhere between "Writing YAAAY" and "MRAGH 1000 WORDS BEHIND" for the month of November.

If my parents say yes about me doing NaNoWriMo, what do you think my word goal should be? I am a 10 year old 6th grader and will turn 11 in the middle of November. The word goal by grade did not help. They showed three different choices.

How would you describe the idea for a story you have? Do you think you could take it through to 50k or would it hang maybe around 10-20k? Know your story before you give yourself ginormous goals.

I'm doing 30k.  Which I think is about two pages a day :P.  It's my first year, so I'm going slow.  Nyarsh.  I get writers block a lot, so I'm kind of giving myself lots of room to win.  I'm such a cheater, I know.

Just make daily goals for yourself. Works for me. Say, "I'm going to write X amount today." And DO IT.

I'm really excited :3. I'm probably going to do 18k-19k, since my school gives LOADS of homework. The main focus of my book is demons and half demons. I did NaNo last year, and it was lots of fun.

Yess!Dad just gave me permission to do NaNoWriMo! Now to think of a story. Maybe something with an orphan?

@Emily: Yes, perfect idea! I will most certainly use it. Hilarious visions of looking in the mirror only to see fairies are running through my head now, LOL!

I see this thread has become about NaNoWriMo in general now, but let it be so! So long as everyone is happy and talking about nice things I don't care.

I'm sorry I haven't had time to come on. I've just had so much school work to do, that I haven't gone on the computer in ages! I don't think I will be able t go on very much anymore, but I will try my best! I'm always thinking about this Chatterbox though, and wondering what all my friends are talking about. Hopefully I'll convince my mom that I need more leisure time. :O
