Summer movies

On May 3, Disney and Marvel's Iron Man 3 will fly into theaters, predictably topping $100,000,000 in it's first three days, effectively kicking off the summer movie season. So, this thread is for discussing our expectations for all the giant Hollywood blockbusters this summer.

I don't think IM3 will end RDJ's run as Iron Man, cause they're (obviously) working on on Avengers sequel. I'm sure Tony Stark will be fine by the end of the movie.

Also, Monstropolis rocks!!! Monsters University is coming June 22nd. And, who thinks Despicable Me REALLY deserves a sequel (July 3)? Also, I'm looking forward to The Lone Ranger, also coming July 3rd. And... anyone else?

Rodney says boau. Yes, Rodney, I'm sure Boa U would make a fantastic movie also, but they'd probably want to make a Boa, Inc. first.

SO MANY AWESOME MOVIES.

These are all the ones I'm looking forward to:

Iron Man 3: May 5th. It better be bette than Iron Man 2.

Star Trek: Into Darkness: May 17th. Benedict Cumberbatch, phasers, and the entire crew of the Enterprise. Enough said.

Man of Steel: June 14th. SUPERMAN

World War Z: June 21

Despicable Me 2: July 3rd. Aliens, I think.

The Wolverine: July 26th.

Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters: August 16th.

Mortal Instruments: Friday 23d.

Catching Fire: November 26nd.

The Desolation of Smaug: December 13thd. Benedict Cumberbatch's voice.

I am interested in Percy Jackson 2, although I was disappointed by the first. I hope Thalia is cool; she's my all time favorite character of the series. I just hope the actress looks right with the hair and eyes and all. I sooooo wish Annabeth had stayed blonde. :(

Okay, saw the trailer, and Annabeth is finally blond. And isn't there a new director or something? And they finally have the Kronos plot unveiled. They didn't mention that in the first movie; Luke had some other reason for wanting to gut Percy. And Percy really needs to grow his hair out again; it looks waaaay too short for how he's supposed to be.

I hope they do a Titan's Curse movie. I want to see Artemis and Apollo; they are my favorite immortals anyhow.

AGREED AGREED AGREED!!!!! I LOVE Thalia! She is just plain awesome! Though, Annabeth is my fave, just slightly over Thalia. And yeah, Artemis is my favorite immortal too! And yes, they SERIOUSLY need to grow out Percy's hair. It's just ridiculous how it is. It looks nothing how it's described in the book. He looks better in the first. And yeah, it seems they're FINALLY revealing the Kronos plot. One of my biggest annoyances though, with the first, was they NEVER showed Thalia's pine tree! What's up witht that?! And it seems they're putting the Waterland scene in this one. And they put the Hydra in the first. Which was weird, and to me, rather out of place. I look forward to Clarisse, cause, she can drive me nuts, but I still like her character. And I hope she has the Confederate Un-dead ship. That will be cool.

And yeah, ANNABETH IS BLONDE!!!! Sorry, I can't get over this wonderful factor.

They are planning a third PJ movie already. The new director for SoM is Thor (pronounced "Tor") Fredudenthal, who directed Diary of Wimpy Kid and Hotel for Dogs.

YEAH!!! I SO want to see Thalia and the Huntresses! SO AWESOME! I love Artemis and the Huntresses!

*spoiler*

I was SO SAD when Zoe Nightshade died! I literally cried! Yet, (I'm sappy, I know) it was beautiful! Becoming a constalation. Wow. That was neat.

@ Blonde Heroines Rule:

I totally know! That's why The Titan's Curse is tied for my favorite book of the series; it was so sad, but in a good way! The Last Olympian is my other favorite book of the series because

*SPOLIER*

Luke dies too. So tragic.

*END OF SPOILER*

I know, I really liked Last Olympian too! It was REALLY good! And..

*spoiler*

Nico's part of coming in with Hades and the undead army. Lukes death (because he died a hero!). Silena's death (she died a hero, saving everyone, so I mean, she's up in my book!) Clarrise charging into battle (really, you can't help but love Clarisse!) And just everything and everyone! It was all so great!

And Titan's Curse is up there for me too! Especially everything after Grover went with the Ophiotaurus. It was just GREAT!!!!!!!!! You can't beat the PJ books.

*End of Spoiler*

So, yes, I'm probably going to be going utterly, utterly nuts until these two movies come out! Heck, till the rest of the series comes out!

My review of Iron Man 3

It was awesome.

We arrived early to the theater for a 12:35 pm showing, and we hung around outside the theater door waiting for the IM 9:30 showing to finish rolling credits, and then the staff had to clean it. While we waited, some other moviegoer guy chatted with the other people waiting about the movies he wanted to see soon, what he thought of the first two IMs, and how a lady took a phone call during the showing of The Avengers he attended last year. Then we all enter the theater once the janitors leave, and sit through the pre-show watching ads for phones, cars, Falling Skies, and a first look at After Earth, which I TOTALLY want to see. Then we're watching trailers for Hangover 3, Lone Ranger, Thor 2, Catching Fire, etc.

Then the movie starts, and it's really awesome, like I said. It delivers great action and an intriguing plot, and leaves me wondering how Tony Stark could have done such a foolish thing as give the world his home address. I guess it was just RDJ style.

There's a spoiler, a really funny spoiler, that answers how they had the Mandarin in the movie without being racist to Chinese people. The final scene, set in a boat dock (the second time I've seen a final showdown scene in a movie set in a boat dock, after The A-Team), is very satisfying, and full of flying suits of armor acting of their own accord, not manipulated by Tony Stark.

And then, Tony does something that makes me think, "Uh-oh. Maybe he's out of the next movies after all." But then after the credits roll, the screen flashes the words "Tony Stark will return". Whew! Glad he's not out of the theater yet.

Oh, and there's a short scene after the credits. So do stay for the credits!

Rodney says hozi. Hosey!!!
