Getting to see it would be amazing! (Unrelated Matilda side question: Have you heard both the OCR and the OLCR, and if so, is one significantly better in your opinion? Because the OLCR isn't on Spotify or YouTube, and I'm really curious about what it sounds like, but at the same time I don't really want to spend money on something that for all I know could be worse than the original. /indecisive)

I had actually not heard of Kerrigan & Lowdermilk until now. I'll definitely add them to my mostly mental list of musical theater-related stuff to look up.

As of right now, I have unfortunately only really heard Raul Esparza in Anyone Can Whistle (although he was great in that) and a couple of videos of "Defying Gravity," although I know I really need to get around to listening to Company.

And yeah, I agree that it would probably not beat Bertie Cavel. But it would still be epic.

That I know of there's only the one recording, which is the West End cast. At least, that's the only one advertised on the both of the show's official websites and Playbill Store, so I would assume there's only the OLCR.

Yes, definitely listen to Company. Or watch it; I know it's on youtube and I believe it's on Netflix as well. Because Raul Esparzaaaaaaaa! and also Barbara Walsh, who is the best Joanne ever.

Because my recording just said "Original Cast Recording" and "RSC," I assumed that it was from Stratford, and when I heard about the OLCR, I assumed it was different. I just looked up the OLCR, though, and it appears to be the same one I have...

The RSC is the Royal Shakespeare Company, so yeah, that'd be the OLCR. Most shows that go from the West End to Broadway don't get a second recording when they do, because why bother with the expense when there's a perfectly functional album for fans already, I guess. Especially if the majority of the West End cast transfers with the show; Mary Poppins was the same way, for example, where the principle original cast in London was the same as the Broadway one.

What I'd thought it was was the recording from even before it got to West End, in Stratford-Upon-Avon, because that was also with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

But... There is a Broadway cast recording of Mary Poppins. I just looked it up to make sure. I'm not sure if they rerecorded all of the songs, but they definitely did some of them, at least.

Also, I just looked up the casts of each (because I only remembered 3 cast members from each of the 2 MP productions we were talking about, but only one overlapped), and according to Wikipedia, the only member of the original cast to reprise his role was Gavin Lee, other than possibly some unnamed ensemble characters not mentioned. Am I missing something again?

It could very well be that I'm mistaken with regards to the cast. I know that the original London Mary did perform on Broadway at some point, because I remember listening to an interview about it, although looking at cast lists now it appears she was a replacement. So don't mind me, I'm just mixing up timelines again.

I wasn't aware there was an OBCR for Mary Poppins; I had thought there was just the OLCR and the live Australian recording (which, while I'm thinking of it, I really need to get my hands on). The only mention I can find of an OBCR is on wikipedia, and the impression that I get from that bit is that only a few songs were recorded?

Oh, there's also a very brief thread on Broadway World, which seems to confirm that there were only a few songs and that, apparently, it was used as a promotional sampler, which is why it doesn't appear to be available anywhere online.

First of all, I'm not sure why my comment appears as a reply to yours. It was meant to be a a reply to my previous comment; yours wasn't even up.

The OBCR has "Practically Perfect," "A Spoonful of Sugar," "Feed the Birds," "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," "Chim Chim Cheree," most of "Good for Nothing/Being Mrs. Banks (Reprise),"and "Anything Can Happen." They are on the Internet, actually, but they're kind of hard to find.

Actually, there was a list of ensemble members for both casts; I just didn't notice it. It looks like even the ensembles were composed of different people.

Hm. My comments are out of order.

Just sayin, Don't You Worry Child is awesome. And, not to get you guys off your track, but who's seen Demi Lovato's Heart Attack music video? It's exactly like Chelsea Briggs described it before it came out! "Creepy, rad, and awesome are a few words that come to mind when I see the preview"

@ Blackbery E.:

I know, Don't You Worry Child is my ALL TIME FAVORITE SONG!!!!!!!!! Don't ask my why it's not on my iPod yet...

Also, this is really random, but the line "I was a king, I had a golden throne" makes me think of Aragorn from LOTR.

I have heart Demi Lovato's Heart Attack once and will never hear it again. Literally, if it is played in a store, I will put on my headphones.

The Spam Box says Edna. Wants me to name a character Edna. Not happening.

@ Blackberry E.:

I said I didn't like the song, but I didn't have a problem with the vid. It was kinda cool.

And Mirrors is a pretty good song; I always hear it on the radio. Haven't seen the vid for that one but isn't it, like, 9 minutes long??
