Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

This is going

This is going to sound like one of the most ridiculous post ideas of the century, but this thread is going to be entirely dedicated to our favorite British actors and actresses--since there are so many of them gracing the silver screen these days, and so many memorable ones from yesteryear.

Many of you might have gleaned from my other ramblings that I am a huge fan of Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki in the Marvel films, Captain Nicholls in the diverting War Horse, and will be in a PBS Shakespearean series which I am really looking forward to. I mean, he is a splendid actor, quite clever (he went to Cambridge, which is like the British Harvard/Princeton/Yale), and has such a lovely accent (as an actor, this means everything.) What I love most, however, is his ability to play such a wide range of characters from anti-hero to villain to tragic soldier, and play them well. Which is sometimes more than what other actors can boast.
I shall not say I think him the most gorgeous of mortals, but he is good looking. That is to say, he could look much worse.

I shall not neglect, either, Daniel Radcliffe, who I have not seen in anything other than Harry Potter, but deserves mention because he played Harry so spectacularly. I can't think of anyone else who would have fit the role so aptly. Emma Watson, too, is a great actress, who made Hermione who she was.

Okay, my fangirling is over--I can't wait to hear your opinions on this.
And please excuse the florid language--I get a little carried away sometimes!

Okay, so they're not actors, but I LOVE the guys on Top Gear!!! It's a hilarious car show that I watch pretty much every night!

Other than that, I don't really watch a whole lot of British movies, so I couldn't say.

Hm. I don't know many actors and actresses  by name. The only one I can think of right now that I love is. . . Asa Butterfieild!!! My sisters (the fourteen and sixteen year old ones) and I love him!! He plays really well and has an adorable accent. Plus I have a crush on him. I loved him in Hugo a lot and I heard he's going to be in the movie of Ender's Game. I need to read that.

OMG, Corina, I love Asa Butterfield!  He is adorable!  He broke my heart in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.

Do the boys of 1D count for this?  Because they're awesome!  Niall's definitely my favorite now because he's adorable and doesn't have any tattoos.

Who else?...

I'll think of someone, I'm sure.

@ Corina:

Asa Butterfield was so good in Hugo. I want to see Ender's Game just because he's in it (but also because of Harrison Ford, too--*coughcoughHanSolocoughcough*)

@ Melody:

Of course 1D counts! Nialler is the best, isn't he? Although I like Zayn a lot, too, since he sings so well and he's marrying Perrie!

@ Ivy:

Helen Bonham Carter was so perfectly eerie and demented and diabolical as Bellatrix Lestrange, wasn't she?

Wait a flippin minute... Helena Bonham Carter is Bellatrix?!  That is awesome.  I loved her as the Red Queen, Charlie's mom in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Madame Thernardier.

Emma Watson! I looooove her. And Russel Crowe (he is British, right?) and Maggie Smith. She. Is. Fantastic. Especially on Downtown Abbey, which I am OBSESSED with. Anyone else who watches it? I'm towards the end of the second season. It's so sad. :'(

I love Downton Abbey too, but it can be a bit depressing. I'm done with season 3, so I won't give you any spoilers ;).

Maggie Smith and Rex Harrison.  Rex Harrison was Doctor Dolittle in the old version (much better than Eddie Murphy could ever be, in my opinion) and also Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady.

Rex Harrison saved My Fair Lady for me. He was soo good as Henry Higgens, are you kidding?

I haven't seen any Downton Abbey, although my aunt is crazy about it. Is it good? She says there is some "adult content" although she's a little...old-fashioned with regard to movies/shows.

@Everinne- Oh yes, it's very good. It's a Masterpiece Classic drama series that takes place in the early 20th century. Everything about it is fantastic. It can be very sad though. I don't think it has any inappropriate scenes but you could say it has some "adult" content. It's really worth watching!

There was one scene in season one, where my mom had me look away, but I was younger, and don't think it was graphic. She just didn't know what was going to happen. Over all it should be fine. I don't like watching anything inappropriate, and I'm okay with it.

I saw The Three Musketeers last night (which was oddly enjoyable), and was so impressed by Luke Evans (who I hear will be in the next Hobbit film) and Matthew Macfadyn (who I had seen in Pride and Prejudice a looooong time ago) that I had to mention them here. They both acted really naturally and saved the film for me when I considered stopping due to Logan Lerman. He somehow worked in Percy Jackson, but bombed D'Artangnan.
