Grace Unplugged

Grace Unplugged

I'd mentioned wanting to see this, and I finally have! It's an AWESOME movie!

*spoilers*

Grace Unplugged is about eighteen year old Grace "Gracie" Trey (Aj Michalka). Her dad is an old 1 hit wonder who hit rock bottom, then found God, and left the world of Hollywood to pursue his faith. Grace has an amazing voice, and wants to pursue a life in Hollywood, and become bigger than her father was. When her dad's old manager/producer "Mossy" comes to visit to ask him to go on tour again, performing a song he'd sung once with Grace when she was little, Grace's father declines, saying he left that life behind and for "him to find someone else and just remake it". Well, Grace decides to try and be that someone. She records her own version, and sends it to Mossy, who instantly see's her potential. Grace secretly leaves home for California, leaving behind a note to her parents. Grace is given a shot at stardom, and sky rockets to popularity, getting a deal with a big label company, "dating" a tv star bigshot, whom she later learns didn't care a thing for her, and it was all a publicity stunt, and finally gets to meet her all time favorite artist, who says she is considering allowing Grace to open for her on tour. But as Grace gains more popularity, she starts to realize why her dad left, and the pressures of Hollywood life. During her time here, she meets her designer's intern, Quentin, who is also a Christian. He and his family had heard Grace sing at their church once, and thought a great deal of it. He helps Grace understand the importance of why she was doing what she was doing. Was she doing it for God's glory? Grace finally realizes the error of her ways, and gives up her biggest dream of all, opening for her hero, Renee Taylor. She heads back home, showing up at her church, surprising everyone, even her parents. As she sings a song she wrote (one I thought was absolutely incredible), it shows scenes of back at Hollywood. Grace has already been replaced, showing that she was one among hundreds.

Finally, it shows a "Two Years Later". Grace and her father are performing more pumped up gospel songs in their home town, and Grace is engaged to Quentin. Grace is extremely happy, and is closer with God and her family than ever before.

This is a very empowering, emotional, and awe inspiring movie that I think EVERYONE should see. I loved the whole thing, and it truly made me think about my own life. I have to remember that though my ambitions may not be wrong necessarily, I have to remember the real reason I'm doing it. Not for me, personal glory, fame, or money, but for God, and His glory. I deeply recommend this to everyone, especially girls (though boys, you too). Grace is an excellent role model, and I will look back on this movie for years to come.

There's a movie for it? ... Markus Zusak, I am so sorry. Would your narrator mind come claiming me now?

The movie isn't out yet. But I agree that it couldn't possibly be that good. Also I saw a gif of a scene from the movie on tumblr (I've got no idea where they found it) and they changed it. Rudy found out about Max from what I assume was supposed to be Liesel's journal. They can't change it like that ugh.
