Instruments!

Here's a question I've been meaning to ask everyone: What instruments do you play?

Post your answers here! I'm always fascinated in hearing what kinds of instruments kids like me play.

I play the piano, and I just started this summer. I have actually gotten very far and it is very fun!

Oh, I play the piano too! I love it, it's so much fun! I started this September, and have gone really far too. My teacher says she's got students who have been playing longer than me, but aren't as advanced. I just learned to play Greensleeves, and it's such a fun and gorgeous piece!

Blonde Heroines Rule: That's cool! I started in June last summer. I've never heard of the song "Greensleeves". Do you know how to play any Christmas music? My friend gave me a Level 1 Christmas piano book. What book are you on for your lessons? I'm on Lesson 1B.

Oooooooooooooooh I love that song! I play piano too, and let me say, when you have small hands like mine, The Long Song is NOT easy to play, not to even mention that pain of Next Stop Everywhere.

I play the flute, and I'm learning the alto saxophone. They're both great :D

Moss: That's cool! Not many people play the alto saxophone or even the flute. People mostly play the piano or guitar, I think. I am interested in playing the violin and flute, because I would like to know how to play them one day. :D

There are a lot of flutes in our band, but not a lot of saxophones. I'm definitely learning saxophone, but I may switch to it, don't know. My band teacher who teaches brass and woodwinds (except flutes) isn't that nice. But my other band teacher who teaches flutes and percussion is really nice. And I have them next year AND high school... ugh.

I played the piano for a few years and really enjoyed it. I learned Greensleves too! I learned it and Auld Lang Syne together, so I could play it for the holidays.

I took up guitar this summer and have tried songwriting. It isn't the easiest thing, but I'm getting there.

I also play the ukulele, and it is really fun, since it's so small and sounds very beachy. You think of Hawaii as soon as you hear it!

@ Nina: I do kind of. They're really basic though. Greensleeves is the only Christmas song I know that is kind of advanced. My piano book is called Accelerated Piano Adventures by Nancy and Randall Faber. It's a really nice book, and gives me far more of an interesting challenge than my last one. I'm working my way to playing Anne's Theme from the Anne of Green Gables movie starring Meagan Follows. I've even got the music for it, I just can't play it yet!

Everinne: You play the ukulele? That's cool! My school actually has a ukulele club. I'm not in it, but I know that you would love it!

I play piano! It's really fun, and I especially like when I get a hard piece, and then, after I work on it for a bit, it becomes easy. Right now I'm working on a piece where you have to push the pedal up and down at different intervals. It's a little hard, but getting easier fast!

I've been playing the trumpet for 2 years and love it! Except the high notes when I have my braces and when the valves get stuck. :(

I also sing, and my friends say I'm very good!

Blue Fairy: I love to sing too! I joined choir last year and my hard efforts have earned me a solo in "All I Want for Christmas Is You" for our chorus program! My singing voice has really improved, I really don't how. Sometimes my sister hears me singing in the shower. (I sing everywhere I go!)

Well, I play piano too. I'm on the same level too! Oh yeah, I do hear her sing. EVERYWHERE!!!

I like to play on my keyboard, and pianos look like something I would like, but I do not have my own piano. I also have a violin, which I cannot play without making everyone cover their ears. I can play a few songs on the keyboard, but I am still not that good. I like Moonlight 1st movement as well as a few others (Moonlight 1st movement is on my keyboard, but not the other movements). But I cannot play these on my own yet. Oh, and I cannot sing very well. Well, I guess I can sing almost anything on Air1 since I know the words to it. I even have my own song book of the words to my top favorite song (I made this on my computer). But you will not see me singing in front of anyone (unless my sister wants to sing too). Anyways, I am not good at the violin, and I don't like to sing, but I am sort of good at the keyboard.

Where do you guys take your lessons? Do you have a private teacher or do you go to a music school? I go to this very good music school. They teach instruments of all kinds. I have a very nice piano teacher, and random factoid, she's Russian! :D
