Okay, I'm going to be annoying and recommend a pretty awesome movie I saw last week--it's called Hidalgo.

Here's the plot: The main character is a dispatch rider in the Old West who shuns his Native American heritage, joins the Buffalo Bill Cody Wild West show with his famous long-distance racing champ Mustang called Hidalgo, then leaves when he receives an invitation to race against all the famous Arabians in this desert called the Ocean of Fire. During the course of the 3000 mile race, he meets a pretty English girl whose horse is in the race (she flirts shamlessly with him, but gives up eventually), The Sheik of Sheiks (Omar Sharif, who made the character believable), and the Sheik's daughter (who doesn't exactly fall in love with the rider but more sympathizes with his feelings of being an outcast, as she is a "worthless" woman and something of a tomboy). The ending is pretty far-fetched (which might have been remidied by a few earlier changes), but you don't really notice the few holes in the plot, for it's really entertaining and exciting. It's pretty PG-13, but the action is short and the slight "innuendo" is only in one scene. After all, all horse movies are cliché to some extent.

The best part of it is, though--for the LOTR fans--is that the main character is Aragorn. Meaning Viggo Mortensen, who basically plays a similar character, with slightly more humanity and a more Western/Indiana Jones twist. His good acting really stands out, unhampered by Aragorn's unrealistic perfection, and left me wishing that he could have become the next Harrison Ford--but that's the topic of another thread.

Now, Gilraen, please don't attack me with sighs/eye-rolls/barfs, because there's no need to insult Aragorn through me. And Viggo Mortensen is entirely seperate from Aragorn. You can like one even if you dislike the other, just as I like Frodo without liking Elijah Wood. And you shouldn't blame VM for your hatred of Aragorn. He doesn't deserve it, and if you're going to give him a second chance, see Hidalgo. It's really, really good.

Thank you. *blushes*

I really liked Hidalgo! Actually, I really only watched it because Viggo Mortenson was in it but it was surprisingly good. :) Is it just me or is Viggo Mortenson not in that many movies? I'd like to see more of him but so far I've only seen him in LotR, The Road and Hidalgo...

Well, Viggo Mortensen is not in very many PG-13 movies--so far as I know, only Hidalgo and LOTR. But I do think he should have become more famous. At least won some kind of award.

TOP!

I won't say anything bad. this time at least because I want the right to fangirl without  having anyone say bad things about what I fangirl about. so I won't be saying anything twords  Aragorn/Viggo any time soon.

I sort of fangirl over him, but not to extreme.

Unless you count covering folders with pictures of 10 and watching a clip from 'Much Ado About Nothing' (starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate) over and over again extreme.

Yay Shakesphere!

Thank you Gilraen.

"Do unto others as you would have done unto you."

All right, that sounded very pompous...sorry...
