Sherlock (the show)

Sherlock (the show)

I'm on the fence about whether to see it. For one thing, I wish it wasn't set in modern day. For another, I slightly dislike Benedict Cumberbatch.

But it's darn Sherlock Holmes, and I love the stories like crazy. No one can ruin it that much, and I love mystery tv serieses in general, like the old Poirots.

Should I see it? At least just the first season? Everyone around here seems such a fan of it...

It's a great show and I recommend it! Benedict may seem a bit weird at first, but I liked him a few minutes into the first episode, A Study In Pink. I just finished season 2 and agh! Cliffhanger!!

I've only seen little clips of it and heard my friend's description of the wedding episode, but now I am semi in love with Sherlock!!!!!!!!!!! I really love the books (just re-read The Sign of Four and The Hound of the Baskervilles) and like mystries in general! My parents just won't let me watch it for some reason. :( Meh.

There's some mature content. That's why they won't let you watch it.

It's my favorite show!  It definitely conveys the feeling of the books.  The mysteries really make you think; it's a very intelligent show.  The fact that it takes place in modern day doesn't change much except helps you relate better because you could see yourself there.  I would totally recommend it.

To the person who said their parents wouldn't let them watch it: it is rated TV-14.  This is because it is a bit gory, since Sherlock deals with murder so much.  The dialogue can also get a bit inappropriate at times, too, but some of the stuff will go over younger people's head.

@ Sir Doctor of Tardis:

I know you are an Agatha Chrisite fan, but have you ever seen the TV series with David Suchet? I've seen the first seven seasons, I think, but then I think they changed producers or something, and I stopped liking the new episodes. A bit gory and racy, which with original episodes were not. I just wondered if Sherlock was anything like the new Poirots.

I'll pass on seeing Sherlock for the moment, though. If it's too murderous, my parents wouldn't let me see it anyway.

There's no real violence on screen but you see a bit of the aftermath sometimes.
