Little House on

Little House on the Prairie TV show.

Has anyone else seen these? I love them. They stopped a long time ago, but they put them on DVD.

YES!!! I love Little House on the Prairie! They still show it on Hallmark, along with The Waltons (which I also adore).

@BHR

My family loves Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons. My dad watched both of them when he was a boy.

My family has The Waltons on DVDs up to the fourth season, and we really like them! Should we start a new thread for this?

I saw a few episodes. They weren't nearly enough like the books. I know that TV shows can't stick totally to the original plots, but I wish they didn't change so much.

It isn't like the books at all. I loved the books, and I was a bothered by some of the changes they made for the tv series. But the shows are still interesting, and I love the setting of the town and the characters.  I usually love shows that are set in an older time!

They did make a sort of movie though at the beginning of the series that is very much like the books. It's where Mr. Edwards crosses the stream to bring girls presents from Santa Claus (Laura is adorable).

Totally agree with both of you. I find if I don't try to compare them with the books, they're a lot more enjoyable.

@Everinne

The director (Michael Landon) wanted to do a TV series just like the books, but some of the chapters are a little boring so they changed it around a little.

I've only seen the movie. I've heard that the newer they are, the less like the books they are. I want to watch them, though.
