Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

I've finally seen

I've finally seen Frozen! I can't believe it, but it was actually as good as everyone said it was. :)

The music was one of the best parts; all the songs were so good and I cried like crazy during the "Do you wanna build a Snowman" scene. The "Fixer-Upper" song was really cute and I loved how Anna and Elsa both had their own songs ("Let It Go" and "The First Time in Forever") that they managed to blend so operatically in the scene when they're both in the ice castle. And Olaf's "In Summer" was just so funny, as was everything else he said/did/sang.

Oh, yes, I so freaking love Olaf. Everything about him had me in stitches, and it was all so original. Kristoff seems like such an awesome friend and I would love to meet Anna. She rocked. Elsa I sympathized with a lot until she sent the Marshmellow thing after Anna and Kristoff. The part that ensued was really good, but it seemed a too drastic measure just to get her sister to leave. I still felt for her a lot, especially after the whole thing with Hans, and I liked how it was love that managed to unfreeze everything in the end. A sappy idea, perhaps, but the whole film was so wonderfully light-hearted and un-sappy, you didn't really worry about it.

The ending with Hans was totally unexpected. I knew that Anna and Kristoff had to like each other by the end, but I didn't know how they would sacrifice Hans. I thought at first he would fall in love with Elsa, but what happened instead was really quite ingeneous. I also thought, from the trailer, that the "act of true love" might be Olaf melting for Anna, but the alternate meaning was much better. And how could we ever sacrifice Olaf, who doesn't have a skull--or bones? :)

The only very minor complaint I had (which is purely feminist and almost anti-Disney from the ground up considering everything) was how glamorous they had to make Elsa after she built her castle and became the Snow Queen. I mean, she was always more beautiful and other-worldly-looking than Anna from the start; I don't know why they had to give her all that eye-makeup and the slinky dress and whatever simply because she went renegade. Especially in the last scene after she came home. She could have changed by then, like everyone else did, back into her summer dress. *smirk*

All in all, best Disney film I've seen in a long while. It had all the humor of Tangled and all the deep plot of Brave, with an added dash of originality and--I would almost venture to bet--as good music as all the classic songs from Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast and all.

Final Score: 9/10. Or maybe 9.5. I just thought of Olaf saying out of the corner of his mouth "Because I love you Anna, I insist you run!" :)

Yes! Yes! Yes, yes, a milllon times yes! I agree with everything you said, exept I (sadly) already knew about Hans' betrayal from a pinterest meme. *sigh* Maybe we are secretly sisters who have been separated, because we have so very many things in common. Okay, I just finished chapter 6 of book 4 of Lord of the Rings, and I haven't watched all the films, either. And I don't listen to much Lorde music.

And I'm not NEAR as eloquent as you are. So perhaps we aren't long-lost sisters, but a girl can dream, can't she?

That would be too cool if we were secretly sisters! Thanks so much for the eloquence compliment, and for the compliment of wanting to be sisters with me. You're so sweet. :)

I actually don't listen to Lorde either; I just like one song of hers. For a long time I did think she was a bit bizarre.

But what do you think of Lord of the Rings? You don't have to be as big a fangirl as I am (I take fangirling to a new sad level!) but I still want to know what you think of it. :)

I love LOTR! J.R.R. Tolkien is an amazing author. What I've read of his so far I love, but I sadly don't know anyone else in real life who has an LOTR fandom. :-(

You're sweeter. ;-)

I really liked Frozen, which surprised me.  The first song (the ice breaking and all that) was definitely my favourite, and it particularly reminded me of the first song of The Little Mermaid, which I also loved!  Olaf was so amazing.  My friends and I are still going "Winter's a nice time to cuddle, but when summer comes I'll be a... happy snowman!"

In agreement entirely with Elsa and the weird dress thing.  She kind of looked like Fraulein Maria from The Sound of Music in the beginning of Let It Go, which was really funny.

The entire time I was watching it, I was automatically adapting it for the stage.  The parts with the castle were the weirdest to try and figure out.  Maybe it was the ice monster, but still.  Some serious puppetry would be needed.  Like, Lion King size puppetry.

@ Choca:

I know! I don't know anyone else who loves LOTR, which is why I slightly spazzed when I found out Blackberry and all the others were fans too. Everyone in real life I've attacked on the subject usually all say, "Oh, but that's so scary!" Well, I think they only know the movies with the orcs and all, but it is NOT SCARY. At least if you have a fast-forwarding remote handy. And what's the slightly Scary factor in comparison with the EPIC factor??? :)

@ Gollum:

I know, when he looked down at the puddle and just jumped over it, I literally fell out of my seat from laughing! Okay, I just realized this, but are you British or Aussie or something? You spelled favorite with a "u."

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, this movie is so awesome! My twin brother is basically my best friend, so the sister moral was so unbelievably great to me. (He liked it even more than I did.) I was honestly laughing the whole time, and I definitely agree about the music. While I do agree with your outfit criticisms, I do feel that SOME change was good, if only to separate her old self from her new self. (Although, seriously, does Elsa just have magic clothes/make-up powers? How useful would that be? And also HOW?) On a completely unrelated note, did anyone else like  The Princess and the Frog as much as I did? I haven't seen it in a couple years, but I've been listening to the songs and MAN is Tiana awesome.

FROZEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't know I would like it so much, since I don't tend to like things after I hear people gush about them too much. But Frozen was TO GOOD to just not like!

My sisters had already told me that Prince Hans was bad, but I couldn't believe it! He was such a convincing good guy that he even fooled me. I thought my sisters were talking about something else. Like there must have been a good reason for him being bad and he wasn't really bad.

I didn't really like Elsa through any of it, I thought she was too dramatic and self-centered, and I just.. really couldn't stand her one bit. I liked Anna much more, she was kind and sweet and she was adventurous and hilarious.

And, of course, Olaf was my favorite, along with Anna. Can I tell you how much me and my sisters quote him??? Like.. every day. I can't remember living through 24 hours without saying something Olaf said. Or replaying the "It's like a little baby unicorn" part 1,000,000 times on YouTube. ;)

@ Blackberry E.:

I know, I'm quoting Olaf every day too; practically everything he ever said! I can't possibly pick my favorite quotes, but here are a few:

"Riding across the fjords like a valiant, pungent reindeer king!"

"Just like a little baby unicorn!"

"I don't have a skull . . . or bones."

And the part when he picks the door lock with his nose? Classic.

I just couldn't believe Hans turned out such a jerk. When I rewatched it and saw the beginning when he's all nice guy, singing the song with her and everything, I was like, "Wow, that was sooo convincing." I agree Elsa wasn't much of a sympathetic main character, but I liked how her power was so erratic and uncontrollable, freezing everything when she ran away from the palace.
