Ski Lodge Murder

Ski Lodge Murder Mystery Shameless Advertising and Extras!

Another ski lodge is coming up in less than a month and I'm very excited for it. If you haven't joined, but think a murder mystery sounds fun, please be sure to check out the "Day 0" page. Or you could sign up here too; that's cool as well.

To put people in a mood of excitement, and also to share some random memorabilia about the ski lodge, I'm going to be putting up some random extra things here. In honor of my fifth ski lodge, I'm planning on writing up the history of the ski lodge (which should hopefully explain some weird things), provide a general description of what the ski lodge looks like, and write up my writing process for the ski lodge. If there's anything ski lodge related you want to see, just ask and I'll do my best to provide it.

I will sign up for this one.

I feel bad whenever I see these because previously I have complained about them, as they use murder as an important bit and the Admins have censored comments that I made about the demises of others, fictional or actual. Mostly fictional.

I kind of see where the line is supposed to be with that sort of thing now, particularly after my so far successful submission of Verla Mingon as a villain. So now I want these rotten feelings off my conscience. Yayyyyyy!!!

Thanks, Joe! I hope you have a great time.

Please don't feel bad. I understand completely why you complained. The reason why the Ski Lodge gets away with it is because the Ski Lodge is kind of like a big, weird reality TV show. The "deaths" are like people getting voted off the island in increasingly weird, silly, and dramatic ways. The Ski Lodge could very well exist as a reality TV show with very little change to the plot- and that's the point I'm trying to make, that the murder, while providing a premise for the story, doesn't dictate the story's direction. I think most people come back for the jokes, Disney Song a Day, and the chance at more narrator bashing than the murders.

Adverstisment, did you say?

Okay, maybe it's a little late to say that. And I probably shouldn't've made another one. And yes, I do realize this is the fifth ski lodge in the history of ski lodges, but I suppose it's more of a sequel to my own thing.

It'll probably be cut off, but if you click on it, it might open in a new tab. I'm not sure.

I worked so hard on it, but then I ruined it with the sky. That's why the last one was blank--I knew this would happen! Still, I'm trying to make a second version with a little editting via Manga Studio.

Oh yes. And I've been meaning to tell you all. I'm actually a dog.

I love this!  It is so going to be the new background on my iPad if iOS 7 doesn't distort it.

AWESOMENESS!

Cappie says gemy.  Germy?  That's rude, Cappie.  Theo's drawing isn't germy.

What the Ski Lodge Looks Like in Canon (Or in My Head, Which is Hardly Canon)

Theo's pictures are so amazing, you guys should just go ahead and picture the ski lodge as Theo's drawings. Or picture it however you want. I can't create magnificent images like Theo, but I'll do my best to describe how the ski lodge looks in my head.

Reasons why the ski lodge changes so much:

1. It's alive- so it grows.

2. The word "continuity" is not in my dictionary.

Outside of lodge: The lodge is a dark wooden building and rather tall, probably three stories. It resembles a large house. The windows have dark drapes (dark gray) covering them. The majority of the lodge goes unused by you guys. It stands at the top of a tall mountain. Other mountain peaks are around the lodge, and you guys either ski down a nearby peak (a cable car takes you across a ravine to get there) or you ski down the lodge hill. Both peaks have ski lifts.

Foyer: When you enter the large doors on the front, you enter a neat, tiled foyer. The lodge phone is in this foyer.

Bedrooms: A hall to the left of the foyer contains all your bedrooms. The hallway is dark and carpeted (a light beige-pink). Originally, it was a small hall with a bathroom on the end, but as more and more guests have come the hall has grown. It now turns a corner and wraps around the rest of the lodge in an L shape. The rooms are lined up so one is across from the other. At the bend in the hall are the bathrooms, which have greatly grown in size. I feel no need to describe the bathrooms to you, I'm sure you've been in a public restroom or college bathroom before.

To describe the rooms themselves, imagine you are walking into the room. The room has two beds on the left wall that face into the room. Each bed has a small nightstand next to it. There is a desk on the opposite wall. If the room faces the outside, then the far wall has two windows in it. They have curtains, but the curtains are a light color and not very heavy. They only appear dark and heavy from outside. If the room faces the inside of the lodge, then the back wall has a painting on it. A closet is in the same wall with the desk.

Kitchen: The kitchen and dining room changed vastly from the first ski lodge (actually, it changed in the first ski lodge, but who cares). The kitchen is very large and bright. It leads off from the right of the foyer. All the kitchen stuff is in the front of the kitchen, but the back of the kitchen has a large window and is a round room. A round wooden table sits here (growing steadily bigger as more people come) and this is the dining room. A pantry extends off the front of the kitchen and the laundry room is down a step from the dining room.

Living Room: The hall from the front of the foyer leads here. The living room is a cheerful room, carpeted, with lots of cushy couches and chairs. There's a fireplace with a hidden alcove behind it (Melody can attest to this!) in the wall facing the kitchen (it's the back wall when you enter). The alcove leads to the pantry. I don't know what the purpose of this was. It's probably so the Proprietress can make dramatic entrances with food.

Ballroom/Library(?): Although I can't seem to keep the name right, this room actually changed the least. It's behind the living room and has almost no decoration. There's only one grandfather clock standing on the left wall... watching and waiting. The back wall of the room is all glass and opens on the backyard. I consider it to be the most ominous room in the place.

Library: There is indeed a real library! I'm not entirely sure of its location, but it has a ton of books on very tall wooden shelves. You name a book, it's likely to be in there. The library itself is very dark and quiet.

Servants' Quarters: The staff quarters are upstairs from a stairwell behind the dining room. You guys don't go in there, but that's where Jem Louise Margaret lives, and where the Proprietress, Maid, Butler, Head Chef, and Gardener (used to be assistant chef, but he was thrown out of the kitchen for arguing with the Head Chef too much -- so now he's used for "chores and others" (sorry)) live when they're not pilfering cannons.

Upstairs: There is a staircase in the hall leading from the living room to the ballroom. Most of the rooms upstairs are deserted and rather cold, so you don't usually go up there. There's an attic with all kind of strange items, a couple of closets, and... that's pretty much it. Of course, the staff live up there, but you shouldn't go poking around in their rooms.

Backyard: The backyard goes through seasons although it stays winter year round everywhere else. There are a lot of flowers and a large lawn in the warmer months (the Maid likes flowers and bullies the Gardener into growing them for her). In the winter, it's simply covered by snow. Pine trees stand around all sides of the garden all year. A small path in the pines at the back leads to a clearing. The clearing isn't affected by seasons but always stays at a cool temperature. It never snows here. In the clearing are marble tombstones that honor those who have perished here. The Proprietress usually puts flowers on them when she's at home.
