Cloud Cult!

Has anyone ever heard of this band? I saw them live at the state fair this summer, and since then I've purchased four of their albums (Love, Light Chasers, Unpluged, and Lost Songs from the Lost Years) and read a book. Their songs are really good, but sometimes they make me want to cry. I was just listening to "Breakfast with my Shadow" (not a very sad song) and I was about to cry. They have upbeat songs, too. I'd probably recomend them to someone who likes The Postal Service or Dream Academy, though they're not really like either of those.

Has anyone heard of them? Listened to their songs? If so, what are your favorites?

I thought I was the only one who heard of them! I love the Light chasers album (Though Unpluged is pretty good too).

AHHHHHHHHHHH! AHHHHHHHHHH! AHHHHHHHHHHH!

I did not expect that anyone else would've actually heard of them! Cool!

Lightchasers is one of my favorites, but you can't listen to it on shuffle and the songs are all connected, so you can't listen to one on a running mix. I get that it's suppose to be a book (and what a good one it is! I nearly cried just listening to "There's so much energy in us!" SEVEN MINUTES OF PURE AWESOME) but it means I can't run to "Room Full of People in Your Head" when I'm running without the twenty seconds of fox noises at the end.

Lost Songs from the Lost Years is my favorite album right now, but I rotate pretty easily. I really like "Rocketship" on that album, as well as "Lightning Girl."

Unplugged is good, but the chance that I'll just randomly cry is probably about doubled. "Transistor Raido" is so good but so sad! I didn't actually know it was on there until I listened through it the whole way. It was one of the few songs I remembered distinctivly from the concert.

I LOVEEEE "There's so much energy in us".  Yeah, I agree, unplugged can be pretty depressing. But alas, you don't get much quality work like this. Most songs these days are so "ADFASFASFSDLJALSFJFJLSFKJDLAJFF" and I can't even understand what they are saying.

Yeah, lost songs from the lost years is a quality album. However, I like Lightchasers BECAUSE they are all coneccted. You dont' get much songs these days like that, if any. BUT THESE SONGS ARE AFJDLAF;SDJASLFJASLFJALDFLA;FSJLDJLJ *dies*.

Nowadays, people like all does songs that go along the lines of this "I LOVE THIS GIRL AND ADFLASDJLDJSLFJLDJ;LFASDSDF;JKSJDAKJFD AND SHE ADFJA;SJDJASJF LS;DJ *bleep*". I'm just glad this band is not like that.

I've listened to all of the songs so much that I know most of the lyrics for a lot of them, but sometimes I still puzzle over the meaning. Really, they just have emotion there in the song, and you don't even need to know what they're saying because you can just feel it.

I just listened to "Lightchasers" and my conclusion is that the transitions are all good except I still don't like the one after "Room full of People in Your Head." The thing about "Lost Songs from the Lost Years" is that even though it's the bits and scraps left over from their other albums, the songs stand on their own very well, and the weirder ones like "Dubba-dubba" are just fun.

Yes, they don't really do that, and it's one of the things that everyone really likes about them. Apparently "Love" has been crituqued because there's no songs like that on it (except for maybe "Meet Me Where You're Going"), but really they talk about differnent types of love. Love between friends. Loving yourself. Love between parents and children is a reoccuring theme because of their personal story. I haven't dug that deep, so I can't say anything for albums like "They Live on The Sun" or "Happy Hippo" (ect, ect), but I would assume that it's a fairly common theme. More than anything, "Love" just feels like, well, love. I never questioned the album's title because it makes sense to me.
