You stroll along

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

You stroll along

You stroll along the beardwalk at the beach where you're spending your vacation. The seagulls caw and create a deafening cacophony, but you don't mind. The waves rhythmically crash on the shore. You have only been here for a day, but love it already. Beachgoers set up umbrellas and towels, putting sunscreen on their squirming kids. A paper airplane glides on the sea breeze to land next to you. Out of curiosity, you pick it up. It has your name on it. You unfold it and read the message in it. It says:

Dear CBer,

You have been invited to the Annual Luau of Amazingness at a small island not far from where you are! A boat will come by where you are standing right now to pick you up to go. You will know it because it is bright green and says 'SEA LAND' on it. It will come in two days' time, so be sure to pack your AEs, CAPTCHAs, and any other miscellaneous items! (including machinery, lathes are encouraged) We will not be held responsible for any CBers drowning, getting mauled by sharks, stolen by Krakens, etc. Have fun!

Seraia C., CEO of Sea Land Inc.

You shrug and go back home to pack.

One of you is the murderer, everyone else dies! This is the first time I've done this. Good luck! "No one here is getting out alive!"

Day 15

_______
Day 15 was somber. No one could manage a smile, let alone a laugh. It was finally hitting them that they would, in time, die with their friends. The only one not heavy with this dark knowledge was the murderer. It had an even heavier burden on its shoulders, the burden of knowing that it would need to mercilessly kill all these heavy hearted CBers. This thought saddened it, but only slightly. Only slightly. . .
______
The CBers were having a party in a spare room. Like most rooms in the resort, it had full wall windows with a view of the ocean outside. The CBers tried to have fun, and eventually just gave up. There were singing pineapples and bananas and mangoes, but not even giant, vocalized tropical fruit could cheer them up. At some point, they all just left. All except Somebody. . . . and the murderer.
______
The murderer, seeing its chance, stuck a knife through the window. It collapsed, the glass shattered, and water came pouring in. No, pouring isn't the word. The water crashed in. Somebody, taken by surprise, tried to stay afloat as the ocean lifted up around her. She was struggling. She'd never bothered to take swimming lessons, so found herself drowning as the room filled up. What happened to the murderer, you may ask? It rode a grappling hook all the way up to the ceiling, then through a trapdoor, safely into the hidden library. Somebody, however, was anything but safe. Even after the glass started repairing itself, it was too late for Somebody. The water drained from the room, leaving her broken body lying on the tiles of the Prismarine Resort's spare room floor.

Day 16

_______
The next day at breakfast, Scylla had a new announcement. "Today is the final room change," she began. "We have narrowed down to just nine left. As you can see, there are a lot of empty spots at the table." Everyone murmured in agreement. "Seraia, the rooms please." Seraia handed a manila folder to Scylla. Scylla thanked her, opening the folder. She pulled out a sheet of paper, reading its contents. "Room 1 will have Shadow Dragon, Cho, and Abigail. Room 2 will have Taxicab, Meox, and Fruit Basket. And Room 3 will have Sir Galahad, Ditty, and Shifting Sands. Is everyone happy with this decision?" More murmuring. And so the day began.
•••••••
[Story Spinner's note: I'm running out of ways to kill you people off!] The murderer decided to kill off Somebody's remaining connection in the Resort de Prismarine. Its next target would be Shifting Sands. It wondered how hard it would be to find and kill Shifting, but was positive that nothing and no one could get in the way of a deranged psycho killer pursuing its next victim. There was no set activity for the day, so everyone was just wandering around the hotel trying not to starve or get too immeasurably lost. The murderer went on a long trip through the undersea resort to find Shifting, but it never grew weary or hungry, for it was motivated. The murderer's search was so long that it made some sort of poem about it.
•••••••
I am searching for Shifting
I will need to run
If I stop then my target
May leave to have fun

I'm chasing
And pacing
And plotting her course
I'm striding
And.....
•••••••
I promise I'll finish tomorrow!

Day 15 continued.

The murderer gave up on its song, focusing all its energy on its sole task: finding Shifting. This was hard, because Shifting never stayed in one place for a long time. Or a short time, for that matter. The murderer was beginning to feel exhausted and had a stitch in its side. It was about ready to keel over and fall asleep when it saw Shifting. Strength renewed, it carefully, soundlessly tiptoed as close to Shifting as it dared. When it thought it was close enough, it drew a small SoundClap from its pocket. It lined up its aim to where it predicted Shifting would be standing, and sharply tossed the SoundClap. Shifting jumped as it hit home, an explosion of sound echoing through the hall. Shifting gazed around warily. "Who was that?" She turned to face the murderer. Heart pounding, the murderer took a ThunderFlash from its pocket and hurriedly threw it straight at Shifting's face. The Flash hit her square on, burying itself in her skin and exploding on a brilliant ring of white light, then its ashes glittering beautifully as they shimmered to the ground. Shifting was no more.
