ART POSTING

(Subject not going through....Third time's the charm...??)

Art stuff thread starting...NOW!  If you draw stuff, you can post it here! I draw in a sort of anime/manga/toon style, but if you don't, don't let that stop you from posting your stuff!  I would love to see other people's art so post away!  They can be OCs, fan art, or just random stuff.  You can use any media, including digital, like I do!  Just to let you chatterboxers know, I started this thread so we can share our tricks of the trade with each other.  Feel free to: ask questions about how to draw certain things, post techniques, share art, and mostly HAVE FUN!  If you draw your OCs, feel free to share information about them such as their names and that sort of thing.  Same goes for fan art since not all of us know where these characters are from.  You don't have to be polished with your art.  I myself am just a beginner at anime/manga/toon.  I'm not good at hands so if any of my hands looks particularly cruddy, you know why.  I also struggle sometimes with feet so same goes for that.  If any of you know how to draw a particularly good hand or foot, feel free to share your trick for it.

Going to post a picture of my OC, Tuxedo, if this post goes through okay.

I'm still in an art rut, but I did this digital sketch today based on one of those character creation posts on Pinterest (add bangs if you have pets, short hair if you're 5'5" or above, etc). I used the base provided, so it's not really my style, but it was fun to just be able to add the details and color it without worrying about anatomy or making everything perfect.

I've never heard of that challenge before. It sounds cool! Maybe we should make a thread for it.

Here's some "Draw This In Your Style"s that I did. (@Admins, is it okay to have the usernames in there? They are not myself nor anyone I know. I just want to give proper credit to the original artists. If having the usernames in there is a problem, I can take them out. I don't want to break any CB guidelines and I'm unsure where usernames that are not my own fit into those guidelines.) So I think I've mentioned this before, but recently all my art stuff has broken/run out-- my digital art app, my digital art stylus, my inking pens, and my sketchbook, to name a few. Over the last few weeks I've been replacing those, and last night my pens finally came! I did this DTIYS to test out how they worked. They're STA Pigment Liner lens, about $10 for a pack of 10 on Amazon if I remember correctly. They're... I'm not sure, actually. I used the brush pen for the DTIYS and it was really smeary. It smeared when I erased my sketch and when I applied the alcohol marker. And it wasn't just little smears, either-- the whole thing was sort of greyish, like when you have graphite on your pinkie and then you smear it as you sketch, except it was permanent ink. Luckily, the marker covered it up and you can't really tell. I was really disappointed, because I absolutely love the look of the brush pen and how it varies my line width, but then my friend gave me some tips to help the smearing and it worked! So I'm very hopeful. I'm working on picturings for the Ultimate Picturings thread right now, so hopefully I should have those up soon. Later, gators!

It's not OK for you to submit something drawn by someone other than yourself.

@Admins, it is drawn by me. It's an online challenge in which people post their work with the title "draw this in your style", and then other people post their drawings based on the first person's drawing. It's like drawing fan art, I guess. We actually have a challenge like this on the CB at the moment, too. What I want to post is my version of other people's draw this in your style challenges. I just don't know if including the original creator of the DTIYS's username is okay for the CB and its guidelines. I want to give credit for the character to the right people, but the art I'm posting is completely made by me.

Thank you for the explanation. Now I understand. Please resubmit the art you drew without the usernames of others. You can just say something like: this is my drawing in my style of an image I found online.

Alright, here we go! This is the Draw This In Your Style. Original characters not created by me, BUT all the art is my own. Usernames have been removed.

I think the brush pen lineart looks really cool! I like looking at DTIYS's online but I've never seen any of those specifically, I don't think.

Here's an ink drawing I did. I used a reference for this one and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out

@Starseeker, I love those! The colors are really cool and I like the brush pen look.

@Hawthorne, that's really good, I've been practicing profiles too recently.

@Hawthorne, I love that side profile! I struggle so much with face angles and also with drawing dreadlocks. You did both of those things so well!

@DG, that's so cool! I love the combination of the watercolor with the acrylic, as well as the subject matter of the girl with the kite. I'm actually also posting a watercolor piece!

This is something I did last night at about midnight, while talking to my oldest childhood friend. I used a reference photo and then turned it into this! I'm not sure what I think about it. I haven't worked in full shades of monochrome gray since like 2018, and it wasn't exactly planned on this, so some of it is kind of rough. But anyway! I like how it turned out! The grey is alcohol marker and the yellow-orange is watercolor. I also used a white gel pen for the highlights and my new ink pens for the outlines.

Thanks, Hawthorne and Star! Compliments always make me happy.

@Star, I love the shading and composition in that (how did she even get up there, though?)
