Leaves swirl around your feet as you head out to the
backyard to get a pumpkin. You kick angrily at them before yanking the biggest
pumpkin off its vine. This year for Halloween your parents are going to send
you to Aunt Rachel and Uncle Richard’s house. Aunt Rachel always serves bland
porridge for breakfast and even blander spaghetti for dinner. There’s never any
lunch. Never any snacks. Never anything but water. No TV. No internet. No cell
service. No books. It’s surprising they even have electricity and running
water! You set the pumpkin on the porch and stomp into the kitchen for a knife.
Oddly, there’s a wicked-looking black one with a white handle on the counter.
You shrug and grab it. Back on the porch, you cut into the top of the pumpkin. “I’m
going to win the Jack ‘O Lantern contest no matter what!”, you exclaim, then
add bitterly, “Since it’s the only thing I’ll get to do for Halloween anyways.”
You take off the top of your pumpkin and reach inside to grab a handful of
seeds, but feel... Nothing... You pull out your arm and peer inside the hole.
There is something long and brownish in there. You stick your hand in again and
pull it out. It’s a tootsie-roll! “How could that have gotten in there?” you
ask out loud. You un-wrap it, and instead of finding chocolate, you find a
tightly rolled note. You take it out. It reads:

Dear VPT (Victim of
Parental Torture),

I’d like to offer you
an escape from the horribleness of bland porridge and spaghetti. I’m hosting an
overnight stay for as long as need be at my mansion. All Hallows Eve Manor (AHEM)
will open its doors to any CBer who wishes to come and stay for the duration of
time that they wish. AHEM offers: The Candy Suite, The Haunted Library, The Bat
House, The Dungeons, The Ghost Wing, Ibrahimbimmy’s Awesome Exclusive Deluxe
Renowned Restaurant, The Theater, The Costume Palace, The Wish Room, The Locked
Door, and much, much more. So much, in fact, that you might never want to
leave!

See you soon,

Candy

P.S. Bring your own
trick-or-treat bags.

P.P.S. If you
misbehave, Panthera will escort you away to an isolation cottage in the Veiled
Woods. Try not to go insane, please. I hate calling asylums.

P.P.P.S. Please don’t
kill each other with light sabers. The light hurts my eyes. Dueling is only
allowed if the participants use normal swords, and the audience buys their own
popcorn.

P.P.P.P.S. I will pick
you up at 11:30 pm in three days. Just wait on your roof.

“Awesome!” you think, “A Halloween sleep over party at a
spooky mansion for as long as I want with no porridge or spaghetti? I’m coming
for sure!” You run up to your room to pack your bags, totally forgetting about
the pumpkin.

 So! Halloween in a
spooky mansion, held by a mysterious person named Candy. Who’s up for it? Just
tell me what you and your AEs’ and CAPTCHAs’ Halloween costumes are and you’re
in! You have three days to sign up, but I might
accept late arrivals depending on how much Halloween candy they give me. Also,
feel free to guess who I am!

Sorry I haven't comented on this! I forgot I was in this. This is great so far!

Knights are better! You should know this, Sir Galahad.

Ew, gross, Luna, you hurled on the floor. *burns it all*

*That wasn't a good idea.*

*sighs* knights, AEs, the whole lot of them. Just a bunch of sheep.

Wow, you're good at maps, Candy! Are you Esthelle or Scylla?

Nope! Sorry, it's a little fuzzy and my handwriting is bad. Just ask if you can't read a word and I'll tell you what it says

Sorry, I STILL didn't finish, but here's part 2:

***

The CBers climbed off the zebra-bus dizzily, clutching their belongings. Chester squeezed his rubber chicken tighter, as Luna hurled on the driveway. It was instantly absorbed. She stared, fascinated at the once-wet spot on the driveway. Then she noticed that the gravel of the driveway was a weird color. It was white, instead of gray. "Why's the gravel white?" she asked Candy. Candy looked proudly at the ground and answered "It's special absorbent gravel. I had it installed after the 77th time someone hurled on my driveway. Do you like it?" "It's amazing!" Luna answered, "What's it made out of?" "Come on! You guys must be exhausted. I'll show you to your rooms," Candy quickly changed the subject. She led the rumpled CBers up the driveway. "Oh! Sorry, I forgot. Diovald and Ariel, could you two bring Fia and Alexandra up to the morgue? There's a map in the entrance hall." "What! Can't we have some help?" Diovald asked, "Dead bodies are heavy!" "OK, fine. Ummm... Saphira! Can you help them because they're such wimps?" "Sure!" Saphira marched on ahead, dragged the two bodies down from the third floor herself, turned into a dragon, grabbed one in each clawed hand, and took off towards the mansion. "Oh well!" said Ariel, "Come on!" The two AEs began jogging back to the group of CBers plodding methodically up the driveway.

***
It was a very long way to the mansion, and Joan and September, who had been carrying her on a stretcher, were very glad when Kestrel woke up. She sat up, shook her head a few times, jumped off the stretcher, and started walking next to Daisy and Moonlight, who were having a whispered discussion as to whether they should trust Candy or not. When the CBers rounded a bend in the driveway and saw the mansion, all conversations and tuneless Hamilton humming fell silent. They looked up at the mansion, and up, and up, and up. Its tallest towers were obscured by the clouds! "That's not a mansion," Autumn Leaves whispered in awe, "That's a castle!" "I know!" Queenie squealed, "and I'll rule over the whole thing!" "Ummm... That's my mansion," Candy said. "Oh," Queenie replied, disappointed. "Come on!" Candy led the group past a bubbling fountain, and up to the front doors of All Hallows' Eve Manor. The doors opened soundlessly, seeming to all on their own The CBers stepped inside. They had arrived in an entrance hall. Echosong gasped. It was huge!

Pillars lined the walls, holding up the ceiling. The ceiling. On it, painted in bright colors, was a picture of a knight and a ninja dueling. Tendrils of dense purple smoke curled around their feet, and the ground was littered with broken glass. Kestrel gasped and fainted. Joan and September were just in time to catch her with the stretcher. Candy took off her mask and shook out her long, red hair. Her green eyes sparkled as she led the group to another set of giant oak double doors and pointed down the hall. "Pumpkin common room and sleeping room are that way, past the maze." "Pumpkin?" Beth asked. "Maze?" Bombett asked after her. Candy smacked her forehead, "Oh! Sorry, I forgot to give out the room assignments! OK, here they are." She passed out a sheet of paper with a border of black sparkles and cheesy jack 'o lanterns. "Sorry about the cheesy jack 'o lanterns," Candy apologized, "I couldn't help it." She grinned sheepishly. This is what the paper said:
Dorm Rooms:

Bat Room:
Diovald
Saphira
Sir Richard
Pumpkin Room:
Moonlight
Daisy
Joan
Witch Room:
Autumn Leaves
September
Kestrel
Ghost Room:
Beth
Echosong
Luna
Queenie
Trick Room:
Puck
Cortana
Bolton
Treat Room:
Chester
Muriel
Bombett
Vampire Room:
Burt
Ariel
Anna
Sir Galahad

"Awesome!" Sir Galahad exclaimed, "I'm in the Vampire room!" Muriel shivered, "Vampires are creepy!" "No they're not!" Burt countered, "They're really cool!" "Yeah, you're just a sissy," Ariel agreed. "Am not!" Beth retorted. "Stop it, you guys. Let's concentrate on finding Bolton and stuffing him into the lava pit in the dungeons," Anna said. She scowled at Bolton as he edged farther away from her, his face white. "Wait a minute... How do you know that their's a lava pit in the dungeons? How do you even know there are dungeons?" Moonlight asked, her eyes narrowing. "There's a map of the mansion on the floor," Anna rolled her eyes. Everyone looked at the floor. Anna sprang at Bolton triumphantly. "Anna! Stop strangling Bolton!" Candy scolded. Suddenly, Anna realized that she couldn't move a muscle. She tried to pry open her jaw to protest, but it wouldn't move. Bolton slipped out of her grasp and ran away to cower behind a a stone pillar. Anna stayed stuck in her position as the rest of the CBers filed up a spiral staircase, eyeing her. The murderer slipped out of line undetected and crept down the stairs. The CBers milled around like sheep in the room above. Then, they heard a loud bang. They rushed down the stairs as one, to discover...
Sir Galahad slumped against a pillar, a bullet wound in his chest. Daisy looked at the mural on the ceiling, and noticed that something had been added to the picture. A pistol, propped up in a corner behind the knight's legs. She shivered. It had nothing to do with coldness.
