Aw man, my ice cream was the end of me...

No! Kestrel why must you be so obsessed with ice cream?

Because it's delicious.

What's it like being dead? Can you go through walls?

Hmm... It's fairly pleasant, actually. But... I CAN'T HAVE ICE CREAMMM!!!

Eh, it's a small price to pay. Now you can haunt us, should you wish to.

Hmmm, hmm. Who could've been around to kill Kestrel? Who could've poisoned the food....? Could Puck's smoke bomb concealed something more than a simple prank, I wonder?

Day 2

Word of the Day

canard

kuh-NAHRD
noun

1a false or baseless, usually derogatory story, report, or rumor.

After some late-night battle tactics lessons from partially the AES and partially some old books,  Day 2 of the tour dawned bright and shiny. The CBers, much less perky than on Day 1, decided to roam the Historical Fiction section.

During their time reading, a group of absolutely adorable baby Mglup came wandering in with a zookeeper.

The CBers, AEs, and CAPTCHAS swarmed around, them cooing and making baby noises at the adorable balls of fluff toddling slowly around the room.

Cockleburr scooped up a tiny pink Mglup in her arms and it batted her nose playfully.

"Watch out," the zookeeper said, "they-"

"I know. A neurotoxin, right? Keep away from the face..."

The zookeeper looked baffled.

Eventually, the Cbers all settled down with a book and a Mglup. The AEs and CAPTCHAS were on a walking tour of the zoo when Tome stopped by a tall door.

"Sorry about this, but it was on the AEs Read sheet we gave you all. Mandatory species and subspecies test are required to be taken by all nonhumans."

"Fine" groaned all the AEs.

"Don't worry, it's totally painless and only takes a minute."

A robotic voice droned out of nowhere "PROTOCOL OVERRIDE{employee}[sublibrarian{TOME}]"

All the AEs jumped.

"That's just Larry. Nothing to worry about."

"Larry?" asked Puck, sounding surprised.

"Yeah. He's the Library's computer system. Some teenage prankster with a basic knowledge of quadriary programming and an experimental chip gave him a bit of a personality. H's ok though."

"New guests, Tome?" said the voice, sounding much less scary.

"Yeah. Just do the usual species one, right?

"All right Tome. Running {speciestest23wingnutloveshalliasubspeciestest4} now.

The room was suddenly filled with a network of lights, running over the AEs and CAPTCHAS from every angle.

"{speciestest23wingnutloveshalliasubspeciestest4} complete.

A string of numbers followed this statement, which Tome promptly wrote down on a small pad.

She then turned around and said to the group "Who here is the tallest? Actually, can you line up in a straight line from tallest to shortest?"

For once in a lifetime, the AEs did as told. That computer was... scary.

Tome then showed them Larry's results. Each nodded or shrugged, some not knowing what species they actually were.

"Puck, we actually have a couple of your relatives on staff at the Library. You too, Alfred. I bet Librarian Wheenble would be pleased to meet one of her own species. Wait... is someone missing?"

The group returned to the Historical Fiction section, which they found in utter and total chaos.

Several CBers were inspecting a giant hairy creature, topped on the floor, unconscious.

"A cuaradon! Who could've- they- how?!"

Brooklyn Newsie came over and whispered "We don't really know, either. But it seemed to come out of nowhere and- we tried to stop it, making shelf blockades and stuff, and then someone just- darted out and tapped it on the knee! It toppled! No one's owning up, either. If it was someone from our group, we couldn't tell."

[Asassin- 1 Murderer- 1]

The Cbers finally rounded up the fluffballs, and Tome led them through a gallery of art.

"Here, you are free to explore. Go in threes, though, and keep your wits about you."

The CBers roamed through the gallery, appreciating the art yet on guard for another occurrence...
