Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Poetry Contest

Poetry Contest

Well, we haven't had one of these in a while, have we? Time for a new one, I say! Welcome, resident poets!

The rules are pretty simple. I am the first judge. I will give you a theme, and you must write a poem relating to the theme. Be creative with your interpretations! I will then judge the entries by a set date, and the winner will then be the next judge, and set the next theme. And so on, and so forth.

The first theme will be... *dramatic drumroll*

Stars! Whether you chose to write about the kind of stars you wish on, or the kind that take the stage, I will be eagerly awaiting your sparkly, shiny, beautiful poems. Have them in by... Saturday, March 18. Two weeks. Sound fair?

I hope to see your poems soon!

Of course, Mei! Also, lovely quote! I might - no, I will - add that for my blog's Daily Quote!

Thank you so much, Leafpool! I actually didn't think I'd get that one, I really appreciate it. And congratulations to the rest of you all, I loved reading those poems!

The new theme is: Dreams. Following your dreams, daydreams, night dreams, anything. You don't have to include the word, but as long as we know it is about dreams.

The poems will be due the 20th, so two weeks from now. I cannot wait to see all your fabulous work, so let the dreams begin!

@Confused

Oh, did I? I'm sorry! I thought I was judging on the 5th but I guess I got myself all mixed up, didn't I?

Are prose pieces allowed, or just strictly poetry?

I meant it as just poetry when I made the contest, since it's hard to judge between the two. I guess I could leave it up to the judge, but I prefer to speak to poetry. Sorry!

Well, if Booksy leaves it up to me... (oh boy, choices!) I don't really know what prose is, and so if Booksy suggests it could be difficult to judge between the two, can we stick with just poetry? Sorry about that, but thanks!

Prose is non-poetic form. Anything that's fictional and isn't poetry counts as prose.

I've rarely seen non-fiction poems, hmm. Maybe we could do that for a theme once.

I meant stick to, not speak to! Silly autocorrect!
