Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Poetry Contest

Poetry Contest

Well, we haven't had one of these in a while, have we? Time for a new one, I say! Welcome, resident poets!

The rules are pretty simple. I am the first judge. I will give you a theme, and you must write a poem relating to the theme. Be creative with your interpretations! I will then judge the entries by a set date, and the winner will then be the next judge, and set the next theme. And so on, and so forth.

The first theme will be... *dramatic drumroll*

Stars! Whether you chose to write about the kind of stars you wish on, or the kind that take the stage, I will be eagerly awaiting your sparkly, shiny, beautiful poems. Have them in by... Saturday, March 18. Two weeks. Sound fair?

I hope to see your poems soon!

Congrats Amethyst! And your poem is BEAUTIFUL, it kinda reminds me of Illusions/Reality in The Phantom Tollbooth in a way! Also, yay, thank you for third place Pangolin! And... hope...

I hope

That I can be better

That I can be more

Than who I am right now.

I hope that I can find it in myself, someday, preferably sooner,

To take that first leap

Into oblivion.

To help others when they need it,

No matter what the situation, no matter who.

I hope I will be able to forgive.

I hope I will be able to create.

I hope I will be able to handle with grace whatever comes my way.

But for now,

Hope is enough.

Hoping

Is enough.

I hope.

Wow, thank you, that was rly inspiring!! Also, has anyone read the Book of Hopes? It's pretty cool!!

Congrats, Amethyst! Your poem was amazing!

Storm

That time was

The calm before the storm

It rumbled gently

Beneath my feet

And stayed still

Until

It all exploded

The storm erupted

Thunder roared in my ears

Lightning flashed before my eyes

Raindrops pounded against me

And no way to escape

The only way was to

Hope

For

A rainbow

Ok, here is my poem!!

Hope is the Stars,

The twinkling lights of Eternity.

Hope is the Trees,

Branches reaching out forevermore.

Hope is the Sun and Moon,

Watching over us and making us feel better.

Hope is the Flowers,

Petals blooming and singing their sweet Melody.

And Hope, my friend,

Is you.

Hope

Never thought I would say this.

Never thought it could end.

But we've grown up,

and I still love you,

but here we part ways.

There is no hope in tomorrow.

No more light in your eyes.

Why should I stay here,

if you are down there,

with demons today?

Hope can spark from a tiny light,

but it always leave with,

you not here by my side.

So hope is gone with you my love,

but it loses it's meaning.

Never thought I would be here,

cleaning my heart from your evil.

So hope left.

Not a drop.

Not a sliver.

Hope was the reason I thought we would start over.

Hope comes in many different shapes

Colors

Sizes

Hope is a seed planted

In a barren waste land

And then sprouting a forest

Hope is the sun shining

After a ferocious storm

Lighting up the world with new light

Hope is a single flame

In the darkness

Illuminating all

Hope is a hug from a friend

Gently comforting you

Telling you that it will be fine

Hope is what keeps us going through life

Hope is what we give to each other.

i haven't feeling very inspired to write lately, but i wanted to submit something. it's not my best but it's alright :)

hope is a survivor

hope is not

a delicate thing—

fragile old china plates collecting dust,

never used;

a broken-winged dove cupped in a

gentle hand;

a ivory flower petal

crushed underfoot;

a promise, so easily

broken.

no, hope is a

fighter, a thing that refused to

die

(or perhaps,

refused to stay dead)—

it’s the blood-soaked knight

in rusted

armor;

the hands clawing out

from beneath dark

gravedirt;

the flame flickering despite the

rain;

the stray dog who didn’t

understand

he wasn't supposed

to make it.

it’s every drop of sweat, every

tear,

every bloodied knuckle, every

defiant stare.

it’s the effort required to

push yourself up from the

mud

when the whole world is

standing

on your back, determined

to keep you down—

yes, hope is a survivor.

just like you.

aw, thanks! that means a lot <33

I really like your poem too!! It's so candid, and when I first read it, it reminded me kind of like a prayer or an oath or something, if that makes sense. It has a really nice flow to it. :)

she looks up at me with her tiny blue eyes

she watches me smile and she starts to cry,

diamond tears run down rosy cheeks

i brush them away and i rock her to sleep

the world is so wide and my baby's so small

and i hold her and hold her and feel us both fall

take pictures of her chubby hands clutching mine

my tears fall with hers but someday we'll be fine

i look up at the stars and down at dry, cracking dirt

the world is poison, everything hurts

but i'll keep going for her, and i'll keep going for me

i'll find us a place where we both can be free

and i hope and i hope and i hope that i'm right

that the world will not put out my baby girl's light

I'm not totally sure why I started writing about a mother, but I really like how it turned out.
