So, I'm going to audition at this one theater, and I don't know if I should audition for Cinderella or Tom Sawyer. I'm leaning towards Tom Sawyer but what do the rest of you think?

Which play would you be more likely to get a part in? How many parts for girls in each one? I'd guess Cinderella has more for women.

That's a tough one!!!!!!!! I'd say Tom Sawyer, not just because you're leaning toward it, but because I've read it and that would be a great play!!Smile

Well, I kind of have an equal chance of getting into both, because the theater rarely turns down anyone. I wouldn't mind playing a boy in Tom Sawyer, and in Drama class I played Becky for a segment of it. Cinderella, on the other hand is a classic. I love both the stories, and they're both musicals. (I don't know how they're going to make Tom Sawyer into a musical, but that's their problem.)

Pudding, you asked which one I'd be more likely to get a good role in. While Cinderella has more women's roles, their are also grownup roles, so I'd probably be a maid or something along those lines. Tom Sawyer is 100% kids.

I saw a musical version of The Diary of Anne Frank. It was called Yours, Anne and it was wonderful! Very sad, of course, but beautiful. If that can be presented as a musical, then certainly Tom Sawyer will work well!

For my audition song I'm either going to sing Colors of the Wind from Pocahontis, or Candle on the Water from Pete's Dragon. What do you guys think?

I love both those songs!

Well they both sound like they would be really fun! I suggest Tom Sawyer because you said you seemed to be leaning towards it! I read Tom Sawyer. It was a wonderful book, so it will probably make a great play!Cool

I think taht you should try out to be in Tom Sawyer.  Speaking of auditions, I want to audition for the musical Annie.  I probably wouldn't be Annie.  I'm going to try out for pepper, but if Liz see's anyone she thinks would do beter as pepper then me then I'll be anybody.  THE AUDITIONS ARE TOMARROW!!!!!  And the 20th and 21st.  I'm nervous.  I'm going to sing The one feather tail of miss Gertrude mkfuzz from Seussical to try out.  I was in teh musical, seussical, and right now, I'm wearing the bright yellow T-shirt that has "Alton little theater presents SEUSSICAL the musical July 17 - 20 the 24 - 27, 2008".  that was a long sentence.  Or, mabe I'll sing Tomarrow.  But I don't have the voice for it, My voice is to low.  Hopefully i'll get into Annie

Good for you, (insert whoever started this thread here)! Try out for Tom Sawyer, the story line is more complicated and the story is probably longer.

I am trying out for Jack and the Beanstalk in July. It is open auditions, so you don't really try out for anything specific. I am just getting into theatre and want to do it professionally when I grow up! I am doing choir next year in school, taking drama camps this summer, memorizing monologues, and taking dance classes next year. I should be good! (I hope!)

@ Meadow: I was in Annie and was understudy for Annie as well as an orphan, Tessie, which was fun because I got to faint.

@ Koffee: Tom Sawyer, definitely!

Heehee. *gets a slightly manical gleam in eye* *wanders off into the sunset singing: I am a cabbage-cabbage, you are a cabbage-cabbage, we are all cabbage(voice cracks)s* *eats a cabbage that happens to wander into path* *resumes singing, adding in a part about that cabbage being a cabbage as well* :D:D:D
