Zork Adventure

Zork Adventure

Dear Adventurous CBer,

You are invited to the land of Zork. I, the Dungeon Master, will provide no explanation. This is not a Ski Lodge. I repeat, this is not a Ski Lodge. Many strange tales have been told of the fabulous treasure, exotic creatures, and diabolical puzzles in the Great Underground Empire. As an aspiring adventurerer, you will undoubtedly want to locate these treasures and deposit them in your trophy case. You are allowed nothing but a compass and an empty backpack. Object of adventure: To get all the treasures and make it to Zork II.

Sincerely,

The Dungeon Master

You read this letter as you start to think about it. Will you come? Or will you not?

This is, obviously, not a Ski Lodge. This is part Ski Lodge, part RP, and part Chat Room. THis takes place in the land of Zork. I will be writing. You don't need a packing list. Here is the charrie sheet:

CBer Name:

Basically, you are a person in the land of Zork. Zork is actually two acres aboveground, but underneath the surface, it stretches for miles. It'll deposit you at places, you've never dreamed about and take you miles in your imagination. You'll all be competing against each other. If you become stuck in an unpenetrable place, like you're dead, you're out of the game. I, myself, have no idea how to get to Zork II. I've played the game but I never won it.

There are a few randomized characteristics in this game. Number one: The Thief. The Thief is a thief, quite obviously, and he pops up at sudden times in the game. It's different on every try. Number two: The Round Room. This room makes your compass go wacko, so you can't tell direction.

Now, for the commands. The original Zork could only understand the most simple commands. This one? Not so much. Since I "run" this version, you may do crazy things like, "kiss the thief". For direction, you have to say, "go north/south/east/west". If you go up a tree, you have to come down again before you can go somewhere. Just say "go down/up". The real Zork has some bugs you can use, like typing in a certain word. You can search them up or figure them out for yourself.

You probably know who I am, I made a thread in DtE about Zork. If you swear at the real Zork, it'll say something funny but since this is the CB, you can't. This'll go slow since you can only enter one command at a time and you have to wait for me to post the answer. You WILL interact with other players if you're in the same room, or someone makes a sound. Happy adventuring!

Sorry, I just re-read your first post, and it said you were running it. Ignore my question.

@Impunity Jane

North of House

You are facing the north side of a white house. There is no door here, and all the windows are barred.

I break the window with my fist. I realize the window is barred, but I'm going to reach through the bars and break it.

You can't see any such thing.

I can't see my fist? Okay then. I'm going to go east.

I forgot to post the intro.

Zork

Welcome to ZORK.

Release 13/Serial number 040826/Inform v6.14 Library 6/7

West of House

This is an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door.

There is a small mailbox here.

A rubber mat saying "Welcome to Zork!" lies by the door.

No idea what the Release section was about.
