Dear Evan Hansen

Dear Evan Hansen

So, as some of you may know, just about the only music I ever listen to anymore comes from Broadway musicals. I had an enormous obsession with Hamilton, which I still listen to sometimes even though it's been more than a year since I started. I've also loved listening to In the Heights, Wicked, School of Rock, and Matilda, among other musicals.

For a few months now, I've been listening to this new musical - Dear Evan Hansen. If you haven't listened to it before, go listen to it right now. Admins, that goes for you too :) It's incredible. I just saw it on Broadway nine days ago and now I love it even more. Ben Platt's voice is the best thing in the universe, and he is such an amazing actor. In Act II there's this one song, "Words Fail", where he is literally sobbing, so hard that his makeup came off, and his voice is still perfect. Incredible. That's the only word that describes it. Incredible.

I've been listening to DEH every day and completely obsessing over it. My brother and I did all the choreography to "Sincerely Me" twice, as well as "Waving Through a Window" and "Requiem." My friend and I constantly quote "Sincerely Me (reprise)" (it's not in the cast recording).

Ok. Whew. I've gotten this far without over-fangirling, typing in all caps, or excessive exclamation points. That's a record.

I know somebody made a thread about this a little while ago, but it died, so I'm recreating it. How many people here listen to it???

If you haven't listened to it, you should start with "Waving Through a Window," then listen to the rest of the soundtrack. But be warned, it does deal with some pretty heavy topics - the plot revolves around a teenager who comitted suicide, so if you're parents aren't ok with that you may want to check with them first. The only inapproprate song is "Sincerely Me", but it's also the funniest song by far. The show itself has a few inappropriate parts and swears, but they aren't actually in the music.

Hehe... Thanks for introducing it to me not too long ago, friend.... Some of the songs in the musical get better every time you listen to them. Ask the Riddler, I was literally hyperventilating and barely holding back tears when she showed me a performance of Waving Through A Window. I had only listened to the song a time or two before she showed me... And oh my wyrd...

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm hooked. In my opinion, this is even better than Hamilton. *sheepish shrug* No hate. Just personal opinion. I never actually thought I'd say that, to be honest.

Yes!!! I was so excited, I watched until past eleven at night! Especially because a few online sources were predicting that the Great Comet of 1812 would win, and it DIDN'T!!! HAHAHA!!! And Ben Platt and Rachel Bay Jones (Heide Hansen, Evan's mom) also totally deserved their awards they are absolutely incredible. And while I wish Mike Faist could have gotten supporting actor, he isn't onstage for long enough and is dead for most of the show, mostly coming back as a ghost/spirit. But DEH won in nearly everything it was nominated for, and three of the Hamilton cast presented awards/performed!

Eesh, I really am a Broadway nerd XD

Great Comet is an incredible show, as is Come from Away. I would have been happy if any of those three won.

I LIKE THE YOGA AND THE SHARING CIRCLES EVERY NIGHT.

The Great Comet and Come From Away did have incredible performances, and they both look very interesting. But I was rooting very hard for DEH.

"Oh and one more thing

That's worth mentioning-

That guy from our school, Jared Kleinman

Yes the insanely cool JARED KLEINMAN!!!

I think we should start,

Make him a part of this awesome friendship we have

A part of this awesome friendship we have

This adorably heartwarming friendship we have!"

... Jared is amazing.
