Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

You're inside, sittin

You're inside, sitting on the couch, trying to find something to do- anything. Five days into summer vacation and you remember why you started being a little bit excited about school in the first place. You sigh.

You turn on the television, and begin flicking through channels. There's nothing good on. You turn it off as a commercial comes on saying something about popsicles.

Yes, you think, a popsicle would be nice. You walk over to the freezer, looking for a popsicle. There's only one left, so you take out the box and begin to fold it up. Something catches your eye and you stop. In tiny print under the ingredients list reads;

Dearest Chatterboxer,

I am very glad you enjoy our brand of popsicles. But more importantly, you are invited to Woodlock Mansion and Summer Excursion Hotel. Our Mansion has seven floors, several pools and lovely outside balconies, one movie theater and an arcade, along with owning seven acres of land and with a stretch of river.

AEs and Captchas are allowed. Please bring them and all your things to your mailbox. If you don't have a mailbox, a toaster will do. (Please make sure there are no letters or toast in the toaster/mailbox.) Transportation and stay are all free. We look forward to seeing you there.

In even smaller print in the bottom, there was a note;

*We are not responsible for any deaths, pain, terrible pain, backaches, loss of limbs, unusual diseases, injuries, or delicious popsicles.

***

Please specify any AE's or Captcha's genders, as I know most of them but not all of them. Guessing is allowed. I have made one other ski lodge before, and this is in no way related to it.

(Also, the computer that I am writing on has sticky keys, so there will be typos.)

My friend helped me with my drive, so I got all of my writing back! Yay!

Day 5, Part 2

Key was lying in a pool of blood with Silverwaxwing and Lock right next to her.

“W-what happened?” She asked Storra.

“Not what happened. What’s happening- she’s still dying.” Storra sadly told her.

“Her leg just split open. She’s bleeding to death. The Hotel Manager and Ms. Tobin tried their best, but-” Lisbeth hesitated. “-she just wouldn’t stop bleeding.”

Serene watched as Key took her last breaths. She whispered something into Silverwaxwing’s ear and then closed her eyes for the last time.

The Hotel Manager walked over and felt for a heartbeat. Silverwaxwing looked at her hopefully, pleading for Key to be somehow alive, but the Hotel Manager shook her head sadly. Rae and Balletandbow walked over to Silverwaxing and helped her up. PSXtreme and Anna did the same for Lock.

“You should probably change your clothes and take a shower.” Rae told the crying Silverwaxwing, as she led her back to the Chrysanthemum Room. “It’ll make you feel better.”

Balletandbow produced a pack of tissues. “I always carry some with me, just in case.” She said, offering one to Silverwaxwing.

“Thanks.” Silverwaxwing sniffled.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“We are gathered here today to mourn the passing of two of our beloved friends, Key and Joy. Although their stay here has been short, they will live long in our memories. Would any of the family members or friends of the deceased like to say something?” The Hote Manager said.
Silverwaxwing stood. “Key was brave, funny, cheerful, kind and spunky. I will miss her always.”
Lock stood as Silverwaxwing sat down. “She was an amazing sister.”
Kitten stood. “Joy was brave, loyal and true. Sometimes she was surly or rude, but I forgive her. She was the best AE, and I will miss her so much.”
“Remember how she won the fast eating contest?” BABTMP asked. “She was truly a skilled eater.”
“And Key was so smart!” Scarlet added.
“I now pronounce you- uh, wrong thingy. I mean, thank you for contributing your memories.” The Hotel Manager said.
And one by one, the visitors trooped back to the mansion.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Hotel Manager checked her watch. “Oh, hey! It’s lunchtime! Would you guys like to have a picnic?”

The CBers looked a bit uneasy, but they decided that it would lift their spirits. The AEs, however, settled for making their own pizzas for themselves and the captchas.

“We could climb up the cliff, and have a picnic near the river.” Rae suggested.

“Is that possible? I mean, the climbing up the cliff part.” Lucy asked.

“Yeah, sure. There is a rockwall, right? And a zipline?” Rae asked.

“I’m in if there’s a zipline!” General Waffleson said.

“Me too!” Balletandbow added.

“I’ll go if Balletandbow does!” Leafpool chimed.

“Since everybody else is agreeing to go,  I will too!” Epic Fangirl said.

“As will I!” Fireburst added.

“Same here!” Icy said.

“Why not?” Lucy said.

Elementgirl, Silverwaxwing and Kitten all nodded their approval.

“Great! Let’s go!” Rae said, leading the way.

It took a bit for the CBers to figure out the harnesses and helmets and all that, but soon they were well on their way up the cliff. Once they reached the top, they were rewarded with a beautiful view of the treetops, the ocean, and the mansion, of course.

“Wow…” Lucy breathed. “That climb was totally worth it. Look at the view!”

“Honestly, right now, I’d rather look at my lunch,” said Icy, opening her picnic basket. “Ooh, one boiled egg, a turkey sandwich, potato chips, and a slice of pie!”

“I’ve got the same thing. Except my sandwich is tuna.” Kitten remarked.

While the CBers were enjoying the view and their lunches, the AEs were outside, making their pizzas. The Captchas shouted out their requests and helped fetch ingredients.

“Ssge!”

“Charles, could you get me some mozzarella?”

“Darkfeather, I need pineapple!”

“Um,” Scarlet asked Stan. “Is the pizza dough supposed to be this thin?”

Stan burst out laughing. “No, you’ve rolled it out a bit to thin. It’ll still work, though.”

Rosalyn scowled at Torstyn. “You got tomato sauce in my hair. Watch what you’re doing.”

“Oh yeah? Why don’t you put your hair back?” Torstyn retorted. “It got in my way.”

“Yeah? Well, why don’t you shut up?”

“Because you’re not the boss of me.”

“Hey, bud, I’m the one who’s got the rolling pin here.”

“I’ve got the tomato sauce.”

“Rolling pins are more sophisticated.

“Yeah. For a caveman.”

“Excuse me?”

“Oh, hush, Rosalyn, and help me finish this pizza!” Arwen told her enraged sister.

“You too, Torstyn.” BABTMP told him. Rosalyn shot one last glare at Torstyn, who stuck his tongue out in return.

After ten more minutes of hard work, the pizzas were ready. For putting in the oven.

Hello. School starts tomorrow, I'm going to be starting my dreaded violin lessons again, I'll need to practice french horn more, I have Cross Country practice (or meets, which take up even more time) every day except Sunday, and I've promised to walk my adorable puppy after practice. Plus, on top of all of that, I have writer's block. (As I write this, I cringe at all the responsibility this stuff will take.) There may not be a new part for a couple of days or even a week. And once school really starts up, I'm afraid I'm not going to have a lot of time to write, so it may be a week between new parts.

Please help me keep this topped. Terribly sorry about the delay.

Day 5, Part 3

Anna kicked at a stone annoyedly. “How long will it take for the stupid pizzas to cook?”

“Um, Anna,” Lisbeth told her sister shyly. “It’ll take at least another half hour.”

“DARN IT!!!” Anna yelled so loudly that the CBers could hear her on top of the cliff.

“Uh-oh.” Elementgirl said. “She gets like that when she needs food.”

“Mmmm.” Lucy replied. “Scarlet does sometimes. Then Sketch punches her. Usually she shuts up.”

“That works?”

“Yep!” Lucy replied, then took a big bite of her sandwich.

Epic Fangirl, who had already devoured her lunch, asked, “So… where does the zipline end?”

Icy ate her egg in one bite, and replied, “I dunno. We may have to do quite a bit of walking.”

“Okay. Well, here goes!” Leafpool said, stuffing a couple of ziploc bags into her basket. She put on her harness and her helmet, then clipped her harness to the zipline. Then she jumped.

The other CBers watched her whoop with delight, getting farther and farther away.

Lucy shoved the last of her sandwich into her mouth and began getting ready. The other CBers did the same.

After about two minutes, Lucy said, “I think it should be safe to go now. Well, I’m off!” She clipped her harness, paused, then jumped into midair. “THIS IS TOTALLY AWESOME!” She yelled, moving away quickly. The other CBers faded from view after a minute. But still, the end was nowhere in sight. “Leafpool?” She called. “LEAFPOOL?!”

From far away she thought she heard someone yelling “Lucy!”, but perhaps it was her imagination.

After about five minutes, she thought she saw something in the distance that looked like an end. As she got nearer, the idea of her accidentally splatting against a tree didn’t seem so ridiculous. She drew nearer too quickly, far too quickly. Then she saw a platform stuck high in the tree with a handle to grab on to. The line slowly went upward, slowing her down. She grabbed on to a handle, then clipped herself to the tree, unclipping herself from the zipline. She looked down. It was a long, long way to the ground.

She looked down. “Leafpool?!”

“I’m down here! Climb down on the rope!”

Lucy looked around until she found the rope, the began climbing down the knots in it. When she was on the forest floor, she gasped.

“Holy Tolito.”

Fireburst was the last to go on the zipline. She clipped herself on. Then she hesitated. She’d never been on a zipline! What if it was totally scary? What if she hated it? What was on the other end?

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Then she jumped, and for a second it seemed like she was falling. Then she started moving, the zipline whirring as she went faster and faster. She let out a whoop of joy.

Then there was a loud noise. She looked around. The earth trembled and shook. The zipline’s line began to shake, too.

“Oh no. Earthquake.” She muttered, doing her best to stay calm. It had been about four minutes. She had to be getting close, right?

Suddenly, the line jerked downward, pulling a screaming Fireburst quickly toward the fallen tree that the other end of the zipline had been attached to.

“Oh no,” Icy muttered. “Oh no oh no oh no oh no.”

Fireburst’s stomach had left on vacation, as had her voice and possibly her lungs as she went down.

The other CBers watched as she slammed into the ground, hurrying over.

“Is she alive?” Balletandbow asked quietly. “Oh, please let her be alive, please.”

Elementgirl worked quickly, checking for a pulse.

“Um- maybe- YES! She’s alive!” Elementgirl exclaimed.

“Yes, alive, but I think she broke her leg in at least three different places. That’s gotta hurt.” General Waffleson said.

“How will we get her back? It was like a jungle in here before the earthquake, and I don’t think the earthquake improved matters!” Lucy slammed her fists into the ground, which hurt her hands.

“Stretcher?” Rae supplied. “I really don’t know.”

“Yeah, a stretcher!” Icy said. “Now, we’ll just have to find the materials.”

It took the CBers about two hours to build the stretcher and get back to the mansion.

When they finally got back, covered in twigs and leaves and dirt, some of the AEs ran to greet them.

“The earthquake messed up our pizzas!” Anna said.

“That’s not the only thing it messed up.” Bryann said. “Look.” He pointed in the direction of the mansion.

***

And, yep! More tragedy! What a wonderful day this is for all the visitors at the mansion! And it'll only get worse.... *Cackles evilly*

Thank you to all of you reading this!
