Dance. Does anyone

Dance. Does anyone

Dance. Does anyone else dance ballet? Or any other type of dance? I'm going to take lessons soon, but I can't decide between jazz and ballet. I have troubles with my knees, and ballet would be better for them, but I"m really unflexible, and have insane laughing fits when I hold poses longer than I think I should :D:D:D. Then again, jazz is worse for my knees, but I would know more people if I took that....agh! Help! Please?...

I take jazz, tap, prepointe, and ballet. I'm having problems with my knee, too. I recently strained a muscle, and while I was recovering,I hurt it somehow, again. Anyway,I'm not sure what you should choose. Can you take both?????????????

No, I have to choose just one....*attempts to hold in tears* because I can't run for a year *fails to hold them in* I have Patella Femoral Knee Pain Syndrome and Osgood Schlatter disease, which basically translates to my tendon is overused and has micro-tears, and my kneecap is out of place and rubs on my femur. *cries a bit more* I've been really depressed because my life revolves around soccer, basketball, and track. So, to cheer me up, my  Mom agreed that I could take dance lessons when soccer season starts again, as long as I keep doing the stretches that the physical therapist gave me.... Anyhoo, you all dont' want to hear my sob story, so I'll just shut up. I'll probably take ballet, because I've always wanted to be a ballerina, though I will fall over at the first hint of a spin that involves standing on my toes :D:D:D Oh, well. I'm rambling again. Shut up Koffee.

Do you like swimming, Koffee? Would swimming be OK for your knees?

Well, I do swimming! It's fun! For dance I do Irish dance, er, probably not the best for your knees because you only use your legs, nothing really with your arms. I also do volleyball, but you run a lot there too. Umm... skiing...maybe? probably not! Hmm.... you could do new activities after school, such as take different language classes, art classes, music (piano? Flute?) or other things like that! Or, you could having swimming lessons to get better at swimming then join swim team. Hang out with friends more often! LOTS OF STUFF!

Yeah, you have a point. It's just that when I hang out with my friends, it's usually at sports practices and stuff :( Oh, well. The prospect of taking dance with my friend Melissa has really cheered me up! :D

I take ballet, have done so since kindergarten, but have lost interest and am considering quitting eventually. But I like it, don't get me wrong, it's just that I can't fit 3-5 days of ballet class in with piano and clarinet lessons and practices, esp. when me mum have to drive 30-45 minutes to get to the dance studio and the piano studio..................

I might be quitting soon, because I do ballet 24/7, even more during performance season, and I also have had to quit soccer, violin, but i'm squishing in horseback riding and figure skating.

I took ballet in kindergarten through 2nd grade, but then stopped 'cause the dance studio was WAY out of the way. I really liked it when I did it though! Maybe someday I'll start up again. Hm. Let me go ask my mom...

I tryed Hip Hop for the first time today. My friend talked me into taking it with her. So far i am enjoying it. Hmmmm i've done Ballet when i was like 5 and Jazz when i was maybe 8 or 9? Ahhhhhhh choices, i'd die if i were you... Hmmmm if you want to start soccer and track and such asap perhaps ballet? I have knee problems as well so i know what it's like not to run. Annoying right?? But i didn't have to stop running for a year, poor you! Ballet might be better for your knee, but you'll want to have fun. So do whatever you enjoy.

Yeah i know, not helpfull.

I have been taking ballet for eight, going on nine, years. I think that you should do both ballet and jazz, and if possible, tap. I do all three, and now I have our head teacher for my ballet teacher.

Um, that's nice, but with my knees, I will be lucky if I can live through one dance class without fainting from the pain....so, yeah. You can see how it complicates things...
