Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Welcome to the Treehouse Maut! It is a wonderful place where CBers and AEs can relax together, have pie wars, and all the CB classics! To go here, please take this note and put it high in the branches of a nearby mango tree. Password is mangrove. A mystical bird will then swoop in, take the letter, and take you to a castle in the sky.* This 14 day vacation will be an awesome respite from the usual craziness of the CB, and if you like the craziness, there is a great place for yelling maniacally, pizza, and murders**.  Come to the Treehouse Maut today!

*Not actually a castle. And no, I have not just finished reading Howl’s Moving Castle. I don’t even like it! It was House of Many Ways. So there.

**Not that I’m suggesting anything!

Sincerely, Chaan Aakash.

You look up from the note. It’s the season of fall turning into winter, where everything is gray and rainy.  A break would be nice- no. No. What are you thinking? It’s obviously a ski lodge. You are going to get murdered so fast, it won’t even be fun. A raindrop falls on your head. You sigh and stand up to go inside, where you find the CAPTCHAs have stolen all your chocolate. “Really?” you groan. The letter is in your pocket. Now you have to make a choice.

You walk up to an old mango tree and clamber up, placing your note inside. But perhaps you would not have done it if you had known the meaning of the word maut.

You probably can tell by now this is a Ski Lodge. Fill out this form here to join!

Right, sorry. Wasn't really sure what you were trying to say with the last post.

Hotairballoon, have you played Mafia? In some versions there is a detective, and alibis. Marigold is the Detective, so she'll have to accuse someone out-of-lodge. That person will comment an alibi (the way I play, the longer and more rediculous the better), and we all vote on whether or not we think that person is the mafia. If we choose to accuse them, they die.

Chaan, this is how we are playing, right? Also, I have a very good reason to suspect that yoou are Blue Moon. Admins, please let me post this.

I have never played the actual game, but I'm familiar with the concept. I used to play an online game that I'm probably not allowed to mention, it was similar but more... pilgrim-y.

Ha! I don't need an alibi, because Mr. Spooky Hindi Guy(?) already said I wasn't the murderer. This means I can avoid contributing for the rest of the story until I get inevitably culled off, right?

Chatterbox and Cricket is not promoting any videogame. There are other kinds of games with this same title.

Huh. So it really isn't LilyPad.

Nymph~

LilyPad is dead.

Just past midnight. Third floor, knife wounds. I almost saw it. LilyPad's body blocked my view, but I heard it; LilyPad came running up yelling "Kala" over and over, and then there were more footsteps and a meaty sound that was probably the knife, and LilyPad had been standing still over my vantage point and now she fell just wrong. I couldn't see who had killed her. She bled out pretty quickly, almost before the second pair of footsteps faded away.

I ran upstairs to see if I could find them, of course, turning into a cat for padded steps and low-light vision, but it was all empty besides a little movement on the second floor, so I flew back in as a mosquito to not draw attention and woke Shy Peacock up. She might not believe that I woke up from the shouts, might think I killed Lily myself, but it's true. I'm going to make a suspect list.

Catsclaw, Kate-the-Great, Poison, Shy Peacock, Marigold, hotairballoon, Spyro, and Chaan are still alive. No one brought a knife except for Viola?, and that's... hold on.

~Is my knife gone? Is there any flash of hair, limb, clothing Nymph saw around LilyPad's edges, any specific tone to the footsteps? Any remarkable thing about the movement, even whether or not it could have been imagined?

A lot of these diary entries will probably seem weird if Nymph does turn out to be the murderer. I think I've unintentionally erased the possibility of their being canon in that scenario by now.

I did ask for diary entries, so I'm prepared to come up with ways it would be plausible. The diary entries also should not be seen as complete canon- I am using them for ideas, but mostly so I can write well in your voices (you've probably noticed all the pov changes I've done, and I actually have a running list of who I have and have not done. I will do everyone eventually). Nymph is not very likely to be the mirderer, anyway.

Well, that's good. I'd still like a few answers, but I guess I could do without.

Aaah! Admins, I accidentally commented with my real (CB) name. Can you change it back to Chaan Aakash(my SL pseudonym) please?

I have no way of telling which comment on the thread to which this comment leads me that you want changed. You need to be specific describing the beginning words of the comment and tell me what name you want changed.

Day 2, Part 3: Gray

Marigold was worried. She’d been looking for something that would help solve the problem in the huge box of gadgetry and weapons that Chaan had given Marigold. The buttons, the chainsaws, the acid-spitting poodles... Marigold wanted none of it. Now, it might help. But instead of finding the arsenal that had been hidden under her bed, she found... nothing. Every single piece of weaponry was gone. The real murderer must’ve stolen it. But who was the real murderer? Chaan didn’t know, so how could she figure it out? Well, she hadn’t been following everyone around for nothing.

Mari turned away for a second, and when she turned back a glowing gray orb, plus a top hat and monacle were in the place where her weapons had been. “What the...” she said aloud. “Well, I guess weird things are normal on the CB.”

There was a note tucked inside the hat. Marigold blinked at it. It was written in Hindi, but the words seemed to change before her eyes. Dhusar(that’s you), I don’t know who you are, but you’re our detective, and accusations are open. Say a name, any name, into the orb.

Marigold had played Mafia before, and she assumed that would be who she accused. What if I accuse someone innocent, though? Well, their alibi had better be good. Marigold wasn’t ruthless, but sometimes she thought the murderer must have rubbed off on her. So she pulled the orb to her and whispered a name.

“Kate-the-Great.”

Let’s see your alibi.

You accuse me of being the murderer? *laughs*. What my motive be? I mean sure, I love murder mysteries, but I like being the detective. How would I solve my own crime? Anywayzers, you want an alibi. Let's see... At the time of Viola?'s death I was climbing a huge banyan tree I found. Yes, yes, I know I can't prove it. But I was the one of the ones who found the body! I wouldn't have to find it if I was the murderer. I would have known where it was. Ah oh well, let's move on to the second murder-Lilypad. At the time of Lilypad's death, I was searching for clues elsewhere in the Treehouse. I didn't tell anyone where I was because I didn't want the murderer to target me. I want to solve this heinous crime and bring justice to the murderer. I know there are other people trying to solve the mystery, but I say two heads are better than one.

(Is this what you were looking for? Sorry if it's not.) (Hehe I'm kinda hoping I'm the murderer XD.)
