Monologues?

Monologues?

Has anyone else ever had to do a monologue at an audition? Where did you find it? I can never find any good ones. Or I guess I could try writing one myself, but I don't know what to make a one minute monologue about. Help?

Um, in this play I was in one time there was a pretty good one. It was about these kids putting on a play, and the main character (in the play they're putting on) has to sweep the stage and she gets all miffed about it. I could post it here if you want. If I can remember it.... Ok, let's see:

Me! Sweeping the stage! And why? Because they think I'm not good enough! What do they know? Nothing, the fools. This was not the life I was meant to lead! I was born to be a star, going to premieres, smiling at the camera, waving to my loyal fans. I have dignity darnit! And I will  not be brought low by small-town, small-minded bumpkins! They will be sorry! No, I'll make them sorry! They will rue the day they asked me to sweep the stage, they will RUE THE DAY I TELL YOU! ((It's a bit on the short side)) I have a couple other monologues floating around if you want to use one of those:D

Could you type them up for me? It's okay if they're short, they're supposed to be roughly a minute or less. Thanks for the help! :D

Hmm...Let's see...There's a couple to chose from... How about one from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Veruca Salt)? Um, there's one from when I was in A Little Princess (as the little princess :D) when she's talking to her doll (which is really fun to do)...There's a random monologue that I did for drama class that's about this girl who thinks she's the queen of someplace that she "found"...There's another monologue from the play listed above, more of a compassionate and less evil one, so it's not as fun...

So, pick one of those, or if none of them sound good, I can list some more. Sorry, I just didn't really want to type all of that and then some. I might bug the Admins. Speaking of which, I'm ranting now...Sorry Admins :D

Veruca Salt and the Little Princess don't sound bad... And I might have found one now, but I'm not sure, so maybe you could type those up for me? Thanks so much for your help! :D :D

Ok, these are purely from memory, so don't kill me if I can't remember a bit of one. I'll find my scripts later, but these are so you can get the basic idea of things:

(Veruca Salt): Where is my golden ticket? i want my golden ticket! Oh, there it is. My daddy worked very hard to get this ticket, you see. He's in the peanut business, and he's got hundreds of women working for him shelling peanuts. That's what they do all day, those women, sit there and shell peanuts. When I got wind of this whole chocolate factory contest, I decided that I wanted a golden ticket. So I told my father, and at once he got all those peanut women to start shelling the wrappers off of chocolate bars instead. Three days, and still nothing. Every day, my daddy would come home from work, and I would say, "Where is my golden ticket? I want my golden ticket!" and I would scream and kick on the floor for hours in the most unpleasant way. Then, on the fourth day, one of the ladies yelled, "I've got one! I've got a golden ticket!" and my father rushed it home to me, and we have a happy home once again. *smiles fakely and spoiledly*

(Little Princess): Oh, this is horrible, Emily (she's talking to her doll, by the way). Do you know how i feel? No! You don't! You're nothing but a doll! You don't even have a heart to make you feel! (That's most of what I can remember right now, so I'll find my old scripts and get back to you)

If the Veruca Salt one isn't quite right, do u think  u could type it up exactly? I need one for her, and this is the only one I could find anywhere.

Where did you find the little princess monologue

I've been looking for that one for almost a year and can't find it.

This is probably one of those things I should know but don't, but....what's a monologue?

A monologue is a speech-like thing that lasts for a minute or more (or less). It gives the director an idea of how you act, and in a play, it just one character talking for a really long time. Mono(one) and logue(talking). It makes more sense like that :D (I hope)

Don't worry, that wasn't a stupid question! But anyway, it's what Koffee said. :)

Google: The stepsister speaks out. It is a hilarious monologue, though it is pretty popular. What are you aditioning for?

I did actually end up writing one myself, kind of. I based it on a scene from the Pensieve in HP and the Deathly Hallows.
