Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

On the thirteenth day of the thirteenth month, thirteen letters were sent to thirteen people. They were written directly from somewhere . . . unknown. Why? Well, the question should rather be ‘Why not?’

The letter contained the following.

To whom it may concern,

You have been selected to come to the Golden Harbor palace. You may bring any companions you may have (Alter Egos, CAPTCHAs, pets, etc.). You luggage must fit in a single backpack (provided). Weapons are allowed, so are magically minimized items.

If you would like to come to the Golden Harbor palace, go to the golden cruise liner at Golden Harbor, on the thirteenth day of the first month. Anything you leave behind will not be transported. Weapons are provided upon request. So is popcorn.

No need to pay - it’s free. That’s why so many people want this letter. Take care of it. If you don’t have it, you’ll be left behind on the journey . . . potentially floating face-down in the water.

Happy travels. Fill out the form below if you would like to join. If you don’t, you’ll appear floating face-down anyway.

I will be accepting 13 Chatterboxers, and however many companions they bring.

Your host,

Whisperrrrr

The receiver of this strange letter flipped it over, and amazingly, a backpack appeared in front of them. It was golden, with opaque white embroidery in swirling patterns. Also, on the other side, there was the aforementioned form.

Companions:

Luggage:

Weapons:

Phobias:

The receiver was a bit - more than a bit - intimidated by the threats, and decided to fill the form out . . . and bring lots of weapons.

DDDD.....FFFFF......AAAAGGHH..

I just spent a long time typing out my sheet for this and THE INTERNET LOST IT! UGGGHHHH MY CONNECTION. I. CAN'T. IT WAS A GREAT...A GREAT SHEET...*sob*

Name: Leafpool (Leafy)

Companions: Arwen (F) Jarnen (M) Serene (F) Hazel (F CAPTCHA)

Luggage: A blank lined notebook, a sketchbook, two treasured Micron pens, a fancy ballpoint pen, a mechanical pencil, sticky notes, a small blue digital camera, bandaids, a thick, warm grey sweatshirt, makeup, many hair elastics, popcorn, (I have learned. Free popcorn never comes without consequences.) a red Sharpie, a grey jacket, and some candy bars with chocolate and caramel and nuts and stuff. And let's just pretend I'm bringing extra clothes.

Weapons: Small knives (multiple, for sharing with my Æs--they're handy, they can be strapped into boots and stuff), sharp hairpins, a rope, and I may be requesting a bow and arrows upon my arrival.

Phobias: Spiders, enclosed spaces, needles, very deep water, heights, complete darkness, partial darkness, and I should stop talking now because I'm just going to keep making the situation worse for myself.

---

Should I be better equipped for this cool ski lodge? Yes. Should I have my possessions be in better order and better organized than they are? Yes. Should I have brought more stuff that made sense (including cool gadgets and OP defense items)? Probably. But I was just tossing stuff into a backpack, in a panic that I had to leave in about 5 minutes, and trying to pack stuff that could help me. Also, when I was finished packing SOMEONE dumped out my backpack and I had to start from scratch again, because I couldn't remember all that I had initially packed. But I'll just use what I've got and do the best I can.

Do the Æs not get weapons or phobias though?

Yeah, are you trying to make us unprepared? Dude, not cool

I've got a bad feeling about this already....

Hah, it'll be fun. I haven't done a ski lodge in a long time. I can't wait.

On my LAST post, Hazel said hmmr, which either meant we were riding to the harbor in a Hummer or she was just saying "hmm" because she was nervous about the ski lodge. *Pats small CAPTCHA's head*

WAIT.

Is this a cruise? It's not a cruise, is it? I took the "palace" part to mean that it was a building, but harbor? Do we take a boat to get there? I don't want to go on a cruise....Umm....

*instantly regrets CB choices*

Hazel said vair, and now she says dwww. Huh.

Day 1

Agent Winter and Night Vision stood at the dock of the Golden Harbor. It was a cloudy and overcast day, with a strong headwind. It didn’t help to relieve Agent Winter’s mood - being persuaded to come on a vacation by death threats wasn’t his cup of tea.

“When is the boat going to open?” Night Vision asked, fiddling with her phone.

The golden cruise liner mentioned in the letter was at the dock, but there was a locked gate at the entrance to the dock, and unless Agent Winter wanted to swim, there was no way to get to the boat. “I think there’s a sign, check or something,” Agent Winter said.

He was plucking out chords on his ukulele, listening to the strange, lilting sounds of it, among the wind and waves. And there was something else. “Hey, Night Vision, what were you asking . . .”

Agent Winter’s voice died, as he looked at the gate. It was gone. Gone. No posts, no signs, no iron-cast locks. Just a clear path from him to the boat on the dock. “Night Vision! The gates gone, we can go,” Agent Winter said.

He felt slightly uneasy, but kept his calm, and shouldered his backpack. Agent and Night Vision walked toward the boat, and boarded it. The boat was unnaturally still. While all the other rowboats and ships rocked with the sea, the golden liner was as still as a fence post.

It was luxurious, with clean white marble flooring, and golden trim. Agent Winter didn’t hear anything until he stepped into the interior, off the deck. The place was brightly lit, with modern lamps. And there were people everywhere. Agent Winter had a brief moment of claustrophobia, when he bumped his head on the doorframe, but he was quickly engulfed by the other chatterboxers.

“Hi Agent Winter!” someone chirped.

He looked around, and found the familiar face of Leeli. “Oh, hi Leeli! Are you going too?” he asked.

“Yep!” Leeli said, “This place is really cool! They have a mini-kitchen, and lots of random patches of water. It’s a little strange, because there’s so much water and no food.”

Agent Winter had a thought, but he pushed it away. “So, this is a cruise. I guess it’ll be fun. Where are the rooms?”

Leeli had been taking a breath, and continued. “That’s what I was going to tell you. There aren’t any rooms, or restrooms, or other conveniences.”

Agent Winter’s unease was growing, until he heard Night Vision calling him to join a game of Uno. Just as he started heading there, the whole floor shifted under his feet. “Whoa, are we moving?” Darkking said, from a corner.

And then the room started filling with water. “I don’t think so. We’re sinking!” Izzy shrieked from beside Darkking.

“What?”

“Ack!”

“Ah god!”

There were multiple curses from multiple people, trying to keep afloat in the water. But the water was rapidly rising, Agent Winter was panicking, and all of a sudden, the whole room was filled with water.

Strangely enough, he could still breath. The water wasn’t impairing his vision or breath or movement. He could swim easily!

“Oooh, cool. Aquz like this.”

“Oh my gosh, I’m not dead!”

Agent felt a presence behind him. He turned, and found a person next to him. They didn’t really have any gender-defining characteristics - they looked female at first, then all of a sudden, vertigo took hold, and they were a male - then back to female. Their hair was a silky golden, in a unisex style, and they wore a Japanese robe that could have been for a male or female, that was a pearly white.

“Hello everyone. I am Whisperrrrr, your host.”

Well nevermind about taking a long time for the update!
