Lately I've been trying to write music. It's fun but kind of frustrating, it takes a long time and its hard to remember ideas xD

Anyone else have any experience with this? Just wondering

Yeah, I got a songwriting assignment from my music teacher. I definitely agree with you. I find it helpful to write it down. (as music if you know how/have time, or just in lyrics, if your song has them, or even as lettered notes/solfage.)

I have the same problem. I'm trying to write a heart-break song (because I had one last year on February the 12th) and I have one, but it looks just... Wrong. WHY CAN'T I RHYME??????

@Em You had a heartbreak at age 11...? (or wait, would you have been 10?!) 

Anyway, I've written one song, and I think it actually turned out pretty good. It's actually a lot like writing poetry... if you guys need inspiration, you should check out the poetry thread! I think at least two people have posted song lyrics they've written on there.

I've recently tried to write a song, too, but I don't really know enough about music to know what chords to use, and I always feel like I might be unconciously stealing the tune from some other song I'd heard. It is kind of fun, though.

I totally relate about feeling like I've stolen the tune! That's why I was hesitant to start writing at first. I feel as if there's so much good music in the world that I can't possibly write anything unique xD

Mm-hm, I get it. Some I just play around or improvise with chords and keys on a piano and get something cool out of it.
