Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

So, I know

So, I know this subject has pretty much been discussed to death, but I am finally reading the Lord of the Rings! My mom is a huge fan (seriously--we have all the books, movies, "lost works" etc.), and she said that when I was done with each book, she would rewatch the movies with me, since she has been meaning to do that for a while. We own the three books in one volume, and I just finished reading the illustrated version of The Hobbit we have (2nd time) while my sister read the non-illustrated one, because I seemed to be liking it so much.

So, thoughts on the subject?

Yay Brynne! I love The Hobbit & all of LotR. I don't really like the "Lost Works", but I do like some other stuff by Tolkien. Random fun fact: Tolkien's birthday is just 3 days away from mine, and his death day is 2 days away from my mom's birthday!

Hmmm i've never read the books, but the movies are amazing. The music is unbelievable. (spelling?)

I've seen all the movies. I liked the first one the best. I read the first book, and, ahem, I didn't like it. I couldn't understand it. I tried to read the second one thinking it might be easier, but alas! No, it was not. I didn't even finish it.

They're not as hard to read as I'd expected them to be--while they're definitely not "easy reading", they're fairly easy for me to understand.

But you are entitled to your own opinion! I'm not trying to make you like them, don't worry. How old where you when you read it?

Okay. Apparently it has been a little too over-discussed...

Yes, I'm reading the Lord of the Rings again.  Though, last year, I only got to Treebard and then lost the book.  So now I'm reading the WHOLE thing.

P.S. When I think of Lord of the Rings I think of my friend Elijah, he's reading the Lord of the Rings right now.  Well, he's not, he hasn't learned how to read yet, but his mom and dad are reading the books to him.
