Last train to Windgrasp

You are in a train station, the Aroura
Terminal. You can see the snow blanketing the outside of the high glass
ceiling. As you squeeze through the enormous bustle of people, you hear the
train conductor shout “Central Blizzard Route! Last call for the train to
Windgrasp!” “Wait!” you shout. “I can’t miss this train! I need to go there!” Trampling
over people a bit, you rush to the train door. The Conductor slides the door
closed immediately after you board the train. She tells you where your sleeping
car is. You follow her directions and plop down your luggage. The sleeping car
is fairly small, with a table in between two beds. “I wonder if I’ll have a
roommate,” you muse. On the table there is two plastic cups, a menu for the dining
car, a pen, and what looks like some kind of form. When you look closer you see
that it reads:

            To
the CBer or AE on this train,

Pease fill out the following
form and leave it on the table in your room. We will collect all the forms later during
supper.

The Form:

Name:

CBer or AE:

Gender/pronouns:

Personality:

Appearance:

Luggage:

Why are you traveling to
Windgrasp?:

The Conductor and her staff
are not responsible for any lost luggage, property damage, minor injuries, or
death.

After filling out the form, you
head for the dining car to meet the other passengers.

This is my first ski lodge,
I hope I don’t mess it up. There are eight slots. I will start when they are
full or on December 1st, whichever comes first. Also, you can guess
who I am. My pronouns are she/her.

~ The Conductor

P.S. sorry if this is spaced out weird- I copied it from microsoft word and that may have messed it up.

Part Four

Once again everyone was in their sleeping cars, and the Conductor’s voice came through the speakers in the ceiling. “Attention, please, passengers on the Central Blizzard Route. The snow storm is getting stronger and my staff and I feel it would be better if everyone came to one car so we can turn off the heat in the rest of the train for a while, and instead use the electricity and fuel in other ways. Please report to the dining car immediately. Soup and bread will be provided for lunch. We will be turning off the heating in all of the sleeping cars. Thank you for your cooperation.”

“My goodness, I wish they would just make up their mind on where they want us to be,” Moonlight sighed.

Alizarine grabbed one of her Capri Suns and stood up toward the door. ”Well, whatever. There’s not really anything we can do about it.”

“Yeah, I guess,” Moonlight replied.

Back in the dining car again, the remaining six passengers were enjoying warm soup and everyone was thinking over the previous two deaths.

“My, my,” Princess Juniper said excitedly. “Two people on this train have died within the past twenty-four hours!”

“Umm, that’s not a good thing,” Cynthia Maple said, confused.

“Of course it isn’t! Death is bad, in my opinion,” Rainbow Riot stated.

“I think so too,” Silver Crystal agreed.

“I think most people would say death is bad,” Moonlight said.

“Why are you talking about whether or not death is bad? That’s the wrong question,” Alizarine interjected.

“Alizarine is right. We need to figure out who on this train is the murderer,” Silver Crystal decided. “and quickly, before they strike again.”

It was that moment when Cynthia Maple fell over out of her chair. She had died of food poisoning.

Okay... I think I'm the murderer. It would make sense. I don't know... we'll have to see. Keep up the work!

$Hey. Guess what? I read the other thing.

Worst of all, I saw an 'A' at the beginning. I fear the murderer is Alizarine. And the space is large enough to hold her name. It cant be Silver Crystal or Princess Juniper, the space is too small. $

Chapter Five

Although it was only 2:00 in the afternoon, it appeared darker than usual at that time of day due to the enormous blizzard. Everyone had finished eating lunch and was sitting around a space heater in the middle of the dining car.

“Ok, so we started with eight passengers on the train and now there’s only five of us!” Rainbow Riot said nervously. “This is really bad. By the looks of it, we’ll all be dead before we get to Windgrasp.”

“Yeah, this isn’t going well,” Silver Crystal agreed.

The daylight outside was disappearing even more, the storm getting worse by the hour. And as if things couldn’t get any worse, the train lost electricity, leaving the five in the dark.

“Are you serious?” Alizarine sighed as she lit a candle.

“Hmm, well now what are we going to do?” Moonlight asked no one in particular.

“We can still use candles, flashlights, and such,” Princess Juniper replied.

There was a sudden draft, putting the candle out. But before anyone could re-light it, the murderer grabbed Rainbow Riot by the wrist, pulled her out of the dining car, and stabbed her.

Then there was only four remaining.

It could be anyone!! I don't know... I guess we'll see soon, but I still think it might be me. Either that, or I'll get murdered next. Keep it up!

Chapter Six

After several uneventful hours had passed, the Conductor came into the dining car to announce that although the current blizzard was slowing down considerably, her and her staff decided that everyone should sleep in the dining car for the night.

“We are still trying to preserve electricity, so we aren’t currently heating the sleeping cars. You may all go to your sleeping cars to get whatever you want for the night, but please return here afterward,” the Conductor ordered.

“Ooh, how exciting!” Princess Juniper said enthusiastically. “Sleeping in the dining car!”

The four shivered in the cold, drafty corridors as they returned to their sleeping cars to collect their belongings. Since the electricity was turned off, their only light sources were a few candles and flashlights.

“Look!” Silver Crystal exclaimed, pointing to a nearby window.

“Why is that window open?” Moonlight asked. “No wonder it’s so drafty in here.”

As Princess Juniper went to close it, a bird abruptly bolted in, crashing into the wall.

“Oh!” the four yelped. They crowded around the injured bird, shining flashlights at its broken-looking wing. Unsure what to do, they simply stared at the bird for a while.

“Anybody here know about birds?” Alizarine inquired.

“I know a bit about wildlife, but not not a lot about birds specifically,” Silver Crystal replied. “I wouldn’t be able to help its wing at all.”

Eventually, Princess Juniper once again went to close the window, but as she did the murderer approached behind her, and quickly shoved Juniper right out of the open window. Her scream was quickly swallowed up by the whirling wind and the sound of the train on its tracks. The murderer swiftly returned to the injured bird with the others.

More than half the passengers were gone.
