Song Lyrics, again,

Song Lyrics, again, because the original post had over 100 posts.

I saw your book at a Border's in Kentucky
Under a sign that said "New and Recommended"
I stole a look at your picture on the inside sleeve and then I couldn't leave
Richard, who was with me, got uncharacteristically quiet
And he said, "All things considered, I guess you don't have to buy it"
So I smile like Mona Lisa, and I lay my Visa down

Schmuel would work till half-past ten at his tailor shop in Klimovich
Get up at dawn and start again with the hems and pins and twist
Forty-one years had come and gone at his tailor shop in Klimovich
Watching the winters soldier on, there was one thing Schmuel missed

"If I only had time," old Schmuel said
"I would build the dress that's in my head
A dress to fire
The mad desire
Of girls from here to Minsk
But I have no more hours left to sew"
Then the clock upon the wal began to glow...

And the clock said:
"Na na na na, na na na
Oh Schmuel, you'll get to be happy!
Na na na na, na na na
I give you unlimited time!
Na na na na, na na na
So Schmuel, go sew and be happy!"
But Schmuel said
"No, no, it's not my lot

I've gotta make do with the time I've got"

The Last 5 Years <3

A long long time ago

I can still remember

How the music used to make me smile.

And I know if I had the chance

I could make the people dance

And be happy for a little while.

But February made me shiver

With every paper I'd deliver.

Bad news on the doorstep.

I couldn't take one more step.

I don't remember if I cried

when I read about his widowed bride

but something touched me deep inside

the day the music died.

((Top!))

Aand continuing with the TL5Y obsession thing (and also because SRS can belt like no other)...

I will not be the girl who is stuck in the burbs

With the baby, the dog, and the garden of herbs

I will not be the girl with the sensible shoes

Pushing burgers and beer nuts and missing the clues

I will not be the girl who gets asked how it feels

To be trotting along at the genius's heels

I will not be the girl who requires a man to get by

And I...

*

and on a slightly unrelated note...

*

How did I come to this?
How did I slip and fall?
How did I throw half a lifetime away
Without any thought at all?

This should have been my time
It's over, it never began
I closed my eyes to so much for so long
and I no longer can

I try to blame it on fortune
Some kind of shift in a star
But I know the truth and it haunts me
It's flown just a little too far
I know the truth and it mocks me
I know the truth and it shocks me
It's flown just a little too far.

Why do I want him still?
Why when there's nothing there?
How to go on with the rest of my life
To pretend I don't care
This should've been my time
It's over-It never began
I closed my eyes to so much for so long
and I no longer can

I try to blame it on fortune
Some kind of twist in my fate
But I know the truth and it haunts me
I learned it a little too late

Oh I know the truth and it mocks me
I know the truth and it shocks me
I learned it a little too late

Too late

@ Reuben: Ooh, I like that song. :)

Few weeks ago I rediscovered dad's Monkees CDs, realized that I still liked their voices a lot, and also remembered that I'm A Believer is possibly one of the prettiest songs I've ever heard.

~

I thought love was only true in fairy tales
Meant for someone else but not for me
Love was out to get me
(That's the way it seemed)
Disapointment hardened on my dreams...

Then I saw your face
Now I'm a believer
Not a trace
Of doubt in my mind
I'm in love, mm, I'm a believer
I couldn't leave her if I tried...

I thought love was more or less a givin' thing
It seemed the more I gave
The less I got
What's the use in trying
All you get is pain
I needed sunshine I got rain...

Remember when the days were long

And rolled beneath the deep blue sky

Didn't have a care in the world

With Mommy and Daddy standin' by

But "happily ever after" fails

And we've been poisoned by these fairy tales

The lawyers dwell on small details

Since Daddy had to fly

But I know a place where we can go

That's still untouched by men

We'll sit and watch the clouds roll by

And the tall grass wave in the wind

You can lay your head back on the ground

And let your hair fall all around

Offer up your best defense

But this is the end

This is the end of the innocence

Oh beautiful, for spacious skies

But now those skies are threatening

They're beating plowshares into swords

For this tired old man that we elected king

Armchair warriors often fail

And we've been poisoned by these fairy tales

The lawyers clean up all details

Since Daddy had to lie

But I know a place where we can go

And wash away this sin

We'll sit and watch the clouds roll by

And the tall grass wave in the wind

Just lay your head back on the ground

And let your hair spill all around

Offer up your best defense

But this is the end

This is the end of the innocence

Who knows how long this will last

Now we've come so far, so fast

But, somewhere back there in the dust

That same small town in each of us

I need to remember this

So baby give me just one kiss

And let me take a long last look

Before we say goodbye

Just lay your head back on the ground

And let your hair fall all around

Offer up your best defense

But this is the end

This is the end of the innocence

Tghis song is like the llama song except it's about potato's, not llama's.  :D

THE TATER SONG

Here's a tater, There's a tater,

And a other little tater,

Funky tater, Funny tater,

Tater, Tater, Rock,

I was once a kitty,

I lived in a house,

But i never saw the way,

The flea got the mouse,

I was never three years dead,

I've never told tales,

And now listen little kitty,

As I send some mail,

Did yuo ever see a tater,

Kiss a tater, On the tater,

Tater's tater, Tastes like tater,

Tater, tater, Rock,

Half a tater, Twice a tater,

Not a tater, Mater, Tater,

Tater in a car, I saw a tater,

Tater, Rock,

Is this how it's told now?

Does it live in the ground?

Does it see my secret plan?

Make a bigish sound?

Now my song is getting thin,

I've run out of blocks,

Time for me to retire now,

And instead use rocks.

I hate myself today

I hate myself tomorrow

I hate myself always

I hate myself in sorrow

I wish that I hadn't done it

I wish the memory was gone

I wish that my mind was clear

And I could happily

Live under the sun

That's not gonna happen

That's not gonna be

That's not comin' true

That's not happenin' for me

The memory will stay in my mind

And keep it there forever

The memory will not go

No, not ever

The memory will forever be

Guess who that song is by, and what it's name is.  :D

Has anyone heard that Alelughlia song? (I SO spelled that wrong) You know, that one in Shrek? Well I made a Harry Potter version. I'll just write the first two verses, the third is a bit rusty:

"Even though I look all around

the horcrux is still no where to be found

Even when I look on the ground

maybe this just isn't the time

'specially when Voldemort's tryin' to penetrate my mind

and Hogwarts is fallin' all before me

Alelughlia, alelughlia, alelughlia, aleluuughliiaa

Every thing seems to fall apart

Ron breaks Hermione's heart

and more people become victims of Greyback

this doesn't seem to be my day

Dumbledore doesn't seem to be ok

and Draco is hiding something from everybody

Alelughlia, alelughlia, alelughlia, aleluuughliiiaaa"

Do you mean that Hallelujah song? Anyway, that's neat. :)

@ Brynne: AH-lay-loo-YAH. Christian word mainly... and it's spelled Alleluia. Or, alternately, hallelujah...

Yeah, I know what Alleluia/Hallelujah is, I was wondering if Hannah meant something else. Because I don't usually associate that word with Shrek...

It's played in a scene in Shrek, towards the end I think...

This one is called "London Bridge". It's the Big Audio Dynamites version.

"What's a thousand shades of grey and can only be seen by day?

Skateboards thunder by, pigeons fly, where I feel okay

London bridge is falling down, taking bids from all around, give me dollars, I don't want pounds (don't want pounds)

London bridge is falling down from the tower to the underground

Now Rome is Rome, but it ain't home

and neither is Paris *Paris pronounced like Pay-ree*

Music hall, bless 'em all, this is home to me

London bridge is falling down, taking bids from all around, give me dollars I don't want pounds (don't want pounds) London bridge is falling down, from the tower to the underground"

This is like one of my FAVORITE songs. I also like their "Dragon town" but I don't know the words to it, except "dragon town":)
