A series of haikus I wrote a while ago about summer:
We are the plants, in
the garden. For us, summer
is toil, long, dry.
We are the children,
let out of school. Now there are
no teachers, no work.
We are the crickets,
singing loud in the night. Our
summer opera chirps.
We are the adults
trying to do work while the
kids run around, playing.
I am the sun, shining
on this hemisphere, giving
its people summer.
The structure isn't perfect, or close to it, but haikus are kind of tricky. In some ways they're harder than trying to make things rhyme.

Here's some unrelated haikus I wrote for fun! Most of them are nonsensical but I enjoyed writing them nonetheless~
water reaches the shore
i wave at the ocean and
the ocean waves back
nightmares like an old
low budget horror movie
scares me anyway
humans are simply
angels with clipped wings and veins
shot through with poison
there's a girl who hates
writing haikus. she always
runs out of sylla-
if i could touch the
sky, i would harvest stars like
i pick blackberries
is God real? if so,
what was he thinking when he
made platypuses?

These are all brilliant. It's impossible to choose a favorite, but I especially like the third one (worded beautifully and hit hard) and the fourth one (made me laugh). But they're all great!!

My bro defends me
At the dinner table make-
Ing me more confused.
My mom says my dad
Wanted to watch a movie
I'm eating too slow.
Then I wake up and
My dream ends, or so I think
I ask my dad why
He said those things so unlike
Him, It was a dream.
Things make sense for now.
Space Station maybe?
We drive to golfing green
By my house it looks different
And he says sorry.
I say it's fine. Other stuff.
And then I wake up.
For real. Had another dream
Inside that one too.
Or maybe I had
Already woken once, a
Break between the dreams.
In this dream nothing really significant or amazing happened but just thought I'd write a buncha haikus about it bc why not and I was in the mood
