I was almost crying at the end of Bridge to Terebithia. It remains the only movie I have so far seen that did the book it was based on justice.

I have Charlie and the Chocolate Factory out from the library right now, actually, but I have not seen it yet.

Just gotta say I love The Lion King (I do like most of the others, too)!  At my youth group, we watched that scene where Simba and Rafiki were talking, and Simba was being all corny and dramatic and yelled at the sky, "YOU SAID YOU'D ALWAYS BE THERE FOR ME! ...But you're not...".  Okay, so you get which scene I'm talking about?  So anyway, my friend and I started laughing hysterically when Rafiki hit Simba on the head with his walking stick thingy and they have that whole long talk.  HAHAHAHA BEST SCENE EVER! :D We always hit each other on the head and do the whole long scene.  Asante sana squash banana!!  Haha, I'm gonna go watch that movie now...  Peace...

Haha love The Lion King. When my sister and I were little we pretty much watched it every day. We had lion pajamas and chairs and toys. Have you seen the second one? Not nearly as good as the first, but okay. The romance was odd, considering they were lions and all, but I liked it a lot.

Ella Enchanted. Hated it. A lot. I mean, Hathaway did a good job, its just, the writers didn't. Singing, Dancing? What was with those scenes when they broke out in song? Pretty corny if you ask me.

Harry Potter Movies. Love them all, except how they burned down the burrow in the sixth. That messes a lot of things up and just doesn't flow with the rest of Rowling's genious.

Thomas and the Magic Railroad. Is that like, Thomas the Train or something?

@Kaite- Yeah, it's Thomas as in Thomas the Tank Engine. But it involves live people and an actual plot. Plus, the funny moments galore... And while it takes place in the world of Thomas the Tank Engine, the trains come in very little.

@TNÖ-You found the book Bridge to Terabithia boring and pointless? How old were you when you read it? And of course, movies are always better when they involve reasonable special effects and your current favorite actress (AnnaSophia Robb). And Nim's Island was slightly over dramatized, but the excellent scenery, the author's fight with the invisible guy, and the lizard-launching scene made up for most of that. Although, Abigail Breslin is a bit over dramatized herself, IMO.

Yes, GoF was a bad movie, we've established that, but until I see it again and can form some educated reasons as to why I personally don't like it, it stays.

Keep in mind that I like the movies Ella Enchanted, Eragon, and Prince Caspian as movies. I know they were terrible failures based on the books, but I've developed this cool skill where I can shut off my brain from anything having to do with the book a movie is based on and judge it just on its movie aspects.

Now, I wish Mary Liz would come see and evaluate this too...

Re: Bridge to Terabithia: I was 11 or 12, I think, and I consider my literary tastes to be more or less developed by that point. At any rate, I read and enjoyed Dracula for the first time during that period too.

I found that the story didn't really go anywhere and the main characters were annoying and I couldn't see the point. I mean, she dies. So what? My reaction was essentially, "Meh. Whatever. That's three hours of my life I'm never getting back."

And maybe I missed some great Fridge Brilliance point that would have made it worthwhile and/or enjoyable. It's possible. *shrug* But at the moment digging up the book from the wasteland that is Quinn's Room is not exactly at the top of my list. I have to finish Small Gods, Nation, Stageplay!Nation, Lords and Ladies, Maskerade, The Fifth Elephant, Good Omens, [Faust] Eric, The Last Hero, and Pirate Latitudes first before I even *think* about reading anything else.
