Vi's Embroidery Threa

Vi's Embroidery Thread! (pun unintended)

I've been looking for a place to post my embroidery for a while now and remembered the CB, so here I am :D I started stitching when I was 10-11, took a break for a couple of years, and only just started back up again in January. My mom introduced me to the art, but mostly she just got the ball rolling-- almost all of what I know now is self-taught (with ample help from the internet, of course). My favorite stitches are French knots and split stitch, and I usually use three- or six-strand floss.

That's all I can think of to say for now! I'm planning to finish a piece tomorrow, which I'll probably post soon, but if this thread is up before then I might send in an older piece first :)

Oh yay, here we are! These are just some little florals I stitched on my sweater. It's one of the first things I did when I started up embroidery again so the quality isn't ideal, but it isn't like people are coming up to me and scrutinizing my pocket lol (except for whoever's looking at this, I suppose). Ignore the odd lighting and angle.

Stitches used: granitos stitch, backstitch, split stitch, satin stitch, woven wheel, French knot, chain stitch/lazy daisy

ooh so pretty! I kind of embroider (as in I embroider but not super often because i'm always losing the hoops) but i've given away most of the things i've done. i am working on something on black fabric with stars, maybe a moth or a bat or something but i've only done a few stars XD i actually kind of want to work on that again now... so perhaps i shall go find that

also welcome! do you prefer she/her, they/them, alternating, or something else? If you don't care you don't have to answer :D

I don’t really mind, use whichever you'd like :) Thank you for asking, though! And I'd love to see your embroidery work, if you’re willing to post it :0

Thank you all so much for your support so far, it means so much to me! As promised, here is Wednesday's piece of a chimera. I don’t usually keep a stitch count, but as this was a submission to a contest at my state's Latin convention, I thought it would be fun to do so for once! Convention was yesterday and we haven't gotten individual contest results back yet; based on the other entries though I’m guessing I'll get third or fourth-- I’ll keep you all posted :D I'm also planning to enter this at the national convention in July (unless I decide to make a new piece since there are definitely some aspects I dislike) so I’ll be back with updates then.

Working on this was pretty awful since the hoop didn't have a way to adjust how tightly it was closed, meaning that there was almost no tension in the fabric. Even though it was a ton of fun to make, I’m still very very glad to be finished lol.

Stitches used: backstitch (275), long and short (625), rice (112), satin (1137), split (836), woven wheel (18, including the "spokes"), French knot (16). 3019 total stitches.

THAT'S SO COOL WHAT I can't imagine how long that took, it's so detailed and neat! The scales on the snake part look especially cool. Did you use a template/pattern?

My CAPTCHA says "wbaad." Lies. Not at all bad. Very good.

Thanks! I drew the pattern myself with lots of references. Here's the original version which I simplified tons haha.

We just got individual results back today-- my embroidery placed third in the cloth category, which I'm really happy with since my friend got second!! (and we both knew we never had a chance against the entry that won first haha.) I also placed sixth in overall graphic arts since I had three other entries, two that won first place and another that won third.

Now it's time to stop procrastinating by looking at contest results and pictures/videos from convention lol
