Buffy the Vampire

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Buffy the Vampire

Buffy the Vampire Slayer!

I don't usually watch tv *fails at being a preteen* but I make an exception for BtVS because it is *so* *awesome*.

I looked it up a few weeks ago because I had heard many good things about it, and then I got more or less addicted. I'm in the middle of Season 2 now.

Fangirling...

SPIKE AND DRUSILLA SQUEE! <3333 I LUFFS THEIR ACCENTS SO MUCH! And their personalities! And their backstories! And I love Xander! And Willow! And Giles! And Jenny Calendar!

I have more things to mindlessly squeal about, but my brother wants to use the computer. Any other fans?

I can't have anything to do with vampires because my mom doesn't aprove of vampires!

Accept for a baby chapter book I read called "Vampires don't wear polka dots"!

Have you ever told her, "know the enemy"?

Oh, but smeyerpires aren't the only vampires out there! There are really cool vampires too. Read Dracula--- Drac and Lucy, especialy Drac, are very well-written characters. Think of Sally and Otto from Discworld*. And of course where Buffy's concerned, Spike and Dru. Even Harmony to a certain extent. And vampire!Willow, in a few episodes. If you explore the rest of vampire fiction, you'll find that Smeyer's vampires are really some of the worst of the lot.

*I've started reading it.

One of my English professors is one of the foremost vampire scholar in the country. My best friend lived next door to him and could see him watching Buffy every night. You can make a living off those pointy-toothed beasts! -Admin

I didn't like vamps much until I read Discworld. Sally and Otto both rule. :D

All Discworld vampires do, as a general rule. Even the evil ones like the Magpyrs.

And don't forget Lady Margolotta, who founded the Temperance League and is an old friend of Lord Vetinari. (heck, Vetinari has enough vampiric qualities and is mistaken for one often enough that he could probably count too)

Also, OTTO!!! SQUEE!

He is so awesome.

Have you read The Truth, or just Thud!? Because if you haven't, you really should read it. It's by far one of the best, even though it is only a stand alone.

...Getting off topic, sorry.

I do love Buffy. Joss Whedon's dialogue and characters = love.

Just Thud! I'm almost done. I am pretty impressed.

Joss Whedon can do anything.

I have never heard of Discworld and my mom and dad probably won't let me read a vampire book!!! But I'll try to get Dracula if it's not too adult!! I am only 10.5 ya know~~~~!!!!

READ DISCWORLD. NOW. *sends out mind control ray to hit Vida* It's not all vamps, anyway.

Ditto.

As to Drac, it gets very intense. I was eleven when I read it, but I'm not usually scared by stuff like that. Anyway, the whole theme of the book is vampires and fighting vampires, so your parents would probably be averse to it. It's very much worth reading, though. <3

I found Dracula a bit difficult to focus on, and I read it when I was 19. But I read it for a history class. Boring. I'm impressed that you read it at 11, Mary. (I should stop being impressed, because all of you are such good readers - but I can't help it!) -Admin

Yeah, the only one that really focuses on vampires at all is Carpe Jugulum.
