Shakespeare, anyone? In

Shakespeare, anyone? In my English class we're reading A Midsummer Night's Dream. We're getting assigned characters and it's really fun! So, anyone else like Shakespeare?

I was'nt sure if this was should have gone onto BaB because most of his plays are books, but they were plays before books. So, here it is on PP.

I have a BIG book of Shakespeare's plays in my room. I have tried to read them, but the plots and words are too confusing. I'm planning to read it when I get into high school, though.

I was Lady Macbeth's Gentlewoman in... The Scottish Play.  That's all I'll call it because a lot of us accidentally sliped and said the real name, and a table broke on us.

Ooh, Shakespeare! Yes, I like it! I've read the original Romeo and Juliet (which was a little far-fetched, if you ask me...) and Twelfth Night, but not A Midsummer Night's Dream yet. I know the story though. It's a funny one.

What character are you, ZB?

Oh, I'm Lysander, Titania the fairy queen, and Snug the joiner. Really, a table broke on you?! That's crazy! Though my English teacher told us that, in a theater, if someone says Macbeth *shhhhhh!!!!!*, then he/she has to exit the theater, spit on their hands, and spin around three times yelling "MACBETH! MACBETH! MACBETH!"

I've only read RaJ, but I love it! I plan to read more of his books soon. I've also read The Boy Who Would Be Shakespeare: A Tale Of Forgery And Folly about someone in the 19th century who forged what he claimed were lost things by Shakespeare; it was really, really fascinating!

I haven't read any of his books/plays yet, but I'm planning to, once I find them in the attic.  I'm going to read Hamlet, since there's something called Odyssey of the Mind that I'm in and there's many different 'problems' you can choose from to work on in a team.  There's one called, "To be or not to be" and it is supposed to be a musical that has an original character from Hamlet and...  I'll just copy and paste the synopsis, because I'm lazy.  xD  "In this Classics problem, teams will put a musical theatre spin on one
of William Shakespeare's most famous lines: "To Be Or Not To Be."
Hamlet,
the title character, ponders this question and realizes that the easy
way out is not always the correct choice. An original "Hamlet" character
will face a team-created dilemma. Unlike Shakespeare's Hamlet, the
team's character will take the easy way out only to discover that
it was the wrong choice. Teams will also incorporate a character that
portrays Hamlet's conscience, a creative scene change, a creative
costume change, and use of a "trap door." A portion of the performance
will include musical theatre elements."

So...  that's one of the reasons why I plan to read Hamlet.  :)

Awhile ago I was in a homeschool production of Pinocchio. There was this girl who played the Fox and did the "To be of not to be" speech, and she memorized the whole thing between Tuesday and Thursday. I was amazed.

Just putting that out there.

Okay, this Friday 13 (dundundun), we're having the Shakespeare festivle!! EEEPP!! This Wednesday, all us 6th graders are reciting the monologue we had to momorize and the top three or four will recite theirs infront of four surprise judges on Friday!! EEEPPP! I have the Titania monologue, "I pray thee, gentle mortal, sing again," monologue from A Midsummer Night's Dream, Act III Scene I, and I memorized from Tuesday night to Thursday morning. Yeah, it was really hard, but I wrote it down a bunch of times, typed it, said it, (which greatly annoyed my brother ;) I took a video recording of me saying it, then I listened to it again and figured out where I did wrong. It was really fun! I love memorizing, now I can say  it all like breathing :D
