Arthur Laurents

I was just reading the newspaper this morning, when I saw an obituary for Arthur Laurents.  He passed away on Thursday at the age of 93.  He wrote the books for such amazing musicals Gypsy, West Side Story, and Anyone Can Whistle (I know it was a flop, but it was very good, so I'm including it).  He won three Tonys for his work on Hallelujah, Baby!Gypsy, and La Cage aux Folles.  He also worked on movies such as Alfred Hitchcock's Rope.  He was really a character, according to the obituary I read in the LA Times, with a rather large ego and a tendency to tell people off when he didn't like what they were doing.  However, even though he has passed, his legacy lives on.  He has left us masterpieces and deserves much credit and recognition.

I agree, Leaf. Thanks for starting this thread.
