I'd like to

I'd like to do a Doctor Who RP.
Please join if interested. I want at least 3 people so that we will have
a nice variety of characters. Oh, and does anyone have any preferences
about which Doctor we do, please tell me.

Ooh! Me! MEMEMEMEME! *jumps up and down excitedly*

For preference I'd say Eleven or Ten, because I'm rubbish at Nine's characterization and don't know the old series well enough to do justice to any of the older ones. I'd prefer Eleven just because he's my favourite, but Ten's actually easier to write and I completely understand that he's arguably the most well known/popular Doctor ever, and as an added bonus I know how his storyline ends so if we do him I won't work myself into paranoid convulsions re: Eleven's fate as of season six. So if everyone else wants Ten that's fine, as long as we don't have Rose. I hate Rose. Please please please let's not have any RosexTen shipping, it's irritating. Rose is irritating. I like Martha and Donna (Donna!!! :D) though. And Amy and Rory, obviously.

*deep breath*

What do you think?

I was thinking we could make up a companion. I've done that before and it's a lot of fun. I don't agree with your opinion of Rose, though. I think that Donna is the annoying one. I don't know why, she just really annoys me. I'd be fine with Martha, Jack (he's really fun to write!), Amy, Rory and Amy, or any combination of the above. Or a new companion. I'm glad I'm not the only person who likes Doctor Who here, though!

My preference for long-term companions is sort of inversely proportional to how angry they are with the Doctor when they first meet him. Or second, with Amy, because little Amy doesn't count. So... yeah, Donna. (I recently found out that my aunt saw a play with Mark Gatiss and Catherine Tate, and nearly imploded with jealousy). Also, the less in love they are with the Doctor, the better. Because he belongs with (to?) the TARDIS and you know it. Jack, of course, doesn't count in this regard because, well, he's Jack. Also River doesn't count because she gets more and more awesome as the Moffat era progresses. Basically, my companions, including specials, go like this: 1, Donna Noble and Rory Williams; 2, Amy Pond and River Song; 3, Lady Christina; 4, Wilfred Mott and Jackie Tyler; 5, Adelaide Brooke; 6, Captain Jack Harkness; 7, Martha Jones; 8, Sarah Jane Smith; 9, Mickey the Idiot; 10, Rose Tyler.

(What is your opinion of River Song by the way? I didn't like her in Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, but as I said she's gotten increasingly more awesome now that Moffat's in control. And have you seen A Good Man Goes To War yet, because I would hate to spoil you by accident? If you haven't, go watch it immediately. It is spectacularly terrifying. [I did not see that coming. At all. Also, the wait until the next episode is going to murder me.])

Personally, I am incredibly wary of OCs when it comes to Who-fanfiction, mainly because good Who Companion OCs are even more endangered than good American Import OCs in Harry Potter fanfiction. And that is saying something. /reads to much fanfiction

So it looks like we'll be doing either season three or specials Ten or season five/early six Eleven? (And by "early" I mean "Up to and including The Doctor's Wife, but I refuse to write anything after The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People because I am very very paranoid about the River Song/Silence arc." Generally I wouldn't even want to touch six at all, except that The Doctor's Wife canonized the DoctorxTARDIS ship and was generally wonderful and must therefore be celebrated.) If we do end up doing Eleven, I'd prefer it to take place sometime after Vampires of Venice, because I adore Rory.

I love RPs and I'd like to join except that I have no idea who Doctor Who is...?

I'd be fine with Martha and Jack, or we could have Jack randomly crop up with a random Doctor. I just really REALLY like Jack. I like Rose, but since no one else seems to, Martha is fine too.

@Elizabeth: Doctor Who is a British science fiction show, in fact the longest running science fiction show ever. The Doctor (just the Doctor, regardless of the people who seem to think that his name really is "Doctor Who") is a time traveling alien who has marvelous adventures, usually accompanied by his human friends. (He, quote, talk[s] and run[s] around and bring[s] home strays, unquote.) It's... complicated.

As far as joining up goes, it would certainly be difficult for you if you haven't been exposed to the show at all (like joining a HP RP without having read the books), but as far as I'm concerned you're welcome to do so anyway. Though I'd really, really recommend reading at least the characters section of its Wikipedia entry first, so you have a basic understanding of what the heck we're on about. From a newbie perspective the show has a ludicrously convoluted mythology and Wikipedia explains it better than I do. ((If you are a TV Tropes person, read the main body of the Doctor Who article there, too, as it gives a much better picture of what the Doctor is like. Reading the tropes list is optional, and a task to be undertaken only if you are very brave and have a lot of time on your hands.))

@Afton: Martha it is then. Before or after the whole Harold Saxon/The Master arc is resolved? (or, before or after Martha joins up with UNIT?)

@TNÖ-Before, I think. She leaves as soon as the Master/Harold Saxon thing is over, so that would not make much sense. Do you want to be the Doctor, or shall someone else do it? I can if no one else wants to.

We could both do the Doctor. That way if one of us completely loses inspiration the RP won't die. You can have Jack, of course, since you like him so much. And I suppose I could do Martha. Or a villain. I like villains! (but not the Daleks. RTD overused them way, way too much and they became annoying.)
