The trailer is out...a whole year before the movie comes out. :) It looks awesome and is directed by Peter Jackson. It's going to be a two part movie (like all movies, nowadays). Cate Blanchett is in it, though she isn't in the book, but she's amazing so they shoved her into the movie anyway. :) Elijah Wood is also in the movie.

I can't wait!

I know. Some of the movie takes place before Frodo goes off to destroy the ring. I have no idea why.

Apparently he's... reprising the role? As he hadn't been born at the time of The Hobbit, I'm assuming there'll be some sort of framing device. Which could be really cool, except that Bilbo didn't tell anyone the true story; the one that he told Gandalf and wrote down in the Red Book of Westmarch was different from the one he told his friends and, presumably, Frodo. Frodo found out later.

Regardless, I cannot wait.

No, scratch that, he told Frodo the truth after Frodo moved in to Bag End.

This has the potential to be awesome.

Apparently they went through a lot of trouble just to get the filming started.  I guess they'll have to digitally erase some years from Elijah Wood, if he's playing a younger Frodo.  It's been what...ten years?

 

Whoah...I just watched the trailer.  Epic.  I can't wait :)

I'm confused... was Frodo even in The Hobbit? I thought it was just Bilbo.

I LOVED the book. I especially loved Bilbo, who I imagined as being more like a gnomish Pooh Bear then anything else. I'm suuuuper excited for the movie. I didn't know there was a trailer.

OMG!!!! So excited.  I am squee'ing all over the place about this.  And no I haven't seen the trailer, but I am going to go watch it right now.  And has anybuggy seen the production videos- they're so cool.
