Sherlock

Does anyone watch it? The BBC drama by Stephen Moffat and Mark Gatiss, I mean. It is absolutely one of the best television shows ever made. It's brilliant.

For those who don't, it's an adaption of Sherlock Holmes set in modern day London, done in a style highly reminiscent of Jekyll or Moffat-era Doctor Who. The writing is fantastic, with tons of little references and call-backs to the original ACD stories and delightfully intelligent plots (no Viewers are Morons to be found here, nosiree). And the acting is unbelievable. Although it is entirely possible that Benedict Cumberbatch doesn't need to breath (first Matt Smith and now this, honestly, how does Moffat find these people?!).

It just closed out its second season, with a third season confirmed to be in the works. There's only six movie-length episodes, sadly (A Study in Pink, The Blind Banker, The Great Game for season one, and A Scandal in Belgravia, The Hound of Baskerville, and The Reichenbach Fall for season two), and actually the second series doesn't air in the US until May (but that's what the Internet is for, right?).

So yeah... anyone else watch this?

I love Sherlock!  I've only seen the first season, but I absolutely love it.  The transition to the 21st century is seamless and works perfectly.  They have the characters down pat and the actors are just phenomenal.  I admit I couldn't sleep after the first episode, just because I was afraid some cabbie would come and get me, but I was afraid a trash can would eat me after watching the first episode of Doctor Who... yeah, you could say I get scared easily.

Ahhhh the second season is even better! Especially The Reichenbach Fall. Just... agh, you need to watch it (you can find it online if you poke around a bit). It's phenomenal. (Uh, watch The Hounds of Baskerville with the lights on, though. During the day. *shiver*)

And their Moriarty is so perfect! It's against all kinds of type, but it works so unbelievably well and... yeah.

It's just... I love it so much. It and Doctor Who are the only still-running shows that I really enjoy. And third season FTW!! :D

I've heard fantastic things, and since it would take a stronger woman than I to resist the idea of a well-done Holmes modern AU, and since I'm on Easter break, I'm starting it today.
