We are happy to announce that Brenda Moore has won the 2012 International Reading Association Paul A. Witty Short Story Award for "Beyond the Call of Duty,” the story of the heroic dog, Gander, that appeared in the January 2011 issue of Cricket. This month you can talk to Brenda Moore in the Author and Artist Corner, where you can ask her about Gander or her newest story for Cricket, “The Bandit Runner," which is in the May/June issue.

That's awesome! I can't wait to read the story. Sadly my April issue isn't even here yet so I don't think I'll be getting the May one any soon either... :D

Wasn't that story about the dog who died to save his sister? If it was, I loved that story!
