Hmm. Can it be mythological? If so, a dragon or pegasus. If real, a horse, cat, dog, or blue bird.

A bird of prey. Oh, how I long for keen eyesight.

Llyr/Lear is an old Celtic king, if I recall properly (who got a play about him). I've never seen it spelled "Lir" though.
