What is your cure for stage fright?

I gave a few speeches last year, and I rather enjoyed it. But the first times, I was very nervous. I was shaking for about ten minutes after the speech, and I couldn't even write. I think that knowing all of the people listening was comforting.

I just focus my eyes on a still object when I'm performing on stage instead of looking at the whole audience. I usually just focus at the back of the auditorium. Also, simply relaxing and deep breathing helps cure stage fright, too. And if you shake your legs or arms when you're nervous, give your hands a place to stay (example- inside a pocket, by your side) and walk around a bit to get your legs relaxed. This helps with giving oral reports, performing in shows, and auditioning for singing.

I've been in a few plays and musicals, and I'm always really nervous before the show, like when I'm backstage, but when I get onstage the fear just dissipates. I have no idea why. So I don't think I can help. The one thing I do is make my family sit in the middle or back of the theater, so I can't see them, but that's all. Sorry I can't help!
