Good-bye Star Shard

Chatterbox: In This Month's Issue

Good-bye Star Shard

Good-bye Star Shard

The April issue brings "The Star Shard" to a close, after a whole year. Who was your favorite character? What was your favorite part?

Well, "The Star Shard" wasn't exactly my type of story, but I liked it okay. I like the Urrmsh because they look so big and rough even though they're gentle and friendly inside.

I agree with Lena. No offence to the author and illustrator who no doubt poured their time into it, but there will always be skeptical readers, and I may be one of them. Really the story was not BAD at all, it's just that it seemed like the majority of the mag for a long time.

My favorite character was Wiltwain. I dunno why... and the Urrmsh were cool, though I imagined them so much differently than that.

Will you leave "The Star Shard" on the site for a while? I still need to read it!

I'll pass your request on to the editors and the Webmaster, Maggie. I would think they will keep it up for a while.

I love most of the stories in Cricket, but when it goes on for so long, you need to go back and reread the episodes. Luckily my sister and I have kept all the magazines all the way back from 2006 when we started getting it. But I DO enjoy the stories continued from magazine to magazine. I never want to grow up as long as Cricket still exists so I can keep looking forward to reading another Old Cricket Says or exciting story.Smile

I LOVE "The Star Shard"!!! It's so sad that Cymbril gives it away, though. Do you think they will get married? Loric is to mysterious, and then he becomes close to her!

"THE STAR SHARD" ROCKS!!!!

Cricket in general, really...

The Star Shard is my favorite story in cricket. I'll miss reading new episodes when its gone. At least I'll still get to read new stories in Cricket. The star shard is one of my favorite fantasy stories now. Smile

I loved Star Shard!!!!! When will it be finished because I just got done reading part 9 in the April issue and it says: "to be continued"- but ya'll say that this is the last month!? Cry Am I mistaken, or is it going to continue in the May issue?

The parts online are a month behind. Part 10, the last episode, is in the April issue.

Dear Cricket,

I think that Cymbril is Loric's sister. Do you think that, too?

I'm not sure, Sophia. They might be cousins, but I know they are good friends!

I personally loved the story.  Fantasy is about all I read unless I have to read something else in school or something like that.  I wish that the story could have gone on longer but good stories always have to end somewhere.  I hope Frederic S. Durbin submits another story to Cricket soon.  I also loved the illustrations by Emily Fiegenschuh.

I loved the art. It was great! But I'm with some of you here, I didn't think it was the best story there ever was in Cricket. I think the characters didn't have enough depth, I didn't feel like I knew them. Especially Loric; it's fine that he's a little mysterious, but in some ways he didn't have enough personality.

When it started out, I didn't really want to read it. But now, it's really intresting! I told the story to my friend, and she liked it. I think there should be one more issue that tells us what happens next! It was a good continuing story, and I want to know if there is a real book, or if it is just a story for the magazine!Wink

I really enjoyed reading "The Star Shard," though I thought It did go on for a long time. Still, I loved the story and I want to know what happens next. (Did Cymbril find her parents? Did she get her Star Shard back?) All in all, it was a good story.
