Noah Count and

Chatterbox: In This Month's Issue

Noah Count and

Noah Count and the Arkansas Ark

I have not seen one of these for a while, so I decided to make one.

What do you think of that story that we found in this month's Cricket issue? Do we think that superstitions can be true, or do you think the flood was a coincidence?

I personally think that humans have an innate ability to predict the weather, and that it was mostly a gut feeling that their family thought there was going to be rain. They just happened to notice the "signs" because they were on the lookout for them.

Usually, I don't believe in superstitions, but at that odd time when something happens (i.e., cat sneezes) which is followed by something that does not add up with the thing before scientifically (i.e., the flood) I begin to wonder...

I read in my science textbook one time about how many animals can actually predict earthquakes, perhaps by feeling vibrations in the earth which humans cannot feel, perhaps because of some other sense we don't know about. If that's true, I guess it might apply to floods and other weather as well.

However, I don't see how the coffee boiling over has to do with anything. I think you're probably right about how they only saw the signs because they were watching for them.
