Parody and Peri's Chat Thread - P Squared!

Hi! I saw what you wrote on the Care Packages thread--are you doing alright? Do you want to talk about it? If not, we can just have our AEs chat. :)

Love (/platonically),

Parody <3

Hello! I don't think I really want to talk about it right now, but I might later. I've mostly been doing okay the past few weeks; just stressed. A lot of people tell me I worry too much, and that I apologize too much. But I can't help it!

How about you? How have you been? Do you need anything - to talk, or rant, or receive advice, or some media recs?

And yeah, we can have our AEs chat, if you like! But I also want to talk to you (if you want to). I want to get to know you better!

You've been doing a writing project, right? If so, how's that going for you? What's your story about?

How has developing your AEs been going, anyway? It's actually really helpful to have them talk to others to develop, so we can definitely have them chat. If you'd like, I can also help you work on developing your AEs as characters in general, and offer some constructive criticism as we see them in action. Can you list your AEs for me and we can decide who wants to meet who?

Here are my AEs:

Indigo "Indy" (she/they) - sweet, shy, and creative introvert aged around 13-14 (open to shipping as well with anyone around her age)

Chai (she/her) - outgoing, loud, sugar-loving extrovert aged 15 (also open for shipping with girls and enbies)

Quintessence "Quinn" (she/he/they) - outgoing, fun, occasionally mischievous music lover aged around 14-16

Callum "Cal" (he/him) - quiet, grumpy, and mature, but also easily flustered and embarrassed. He's around 14-16 and in desperate need of a social life lol

I'm sorry this is so disorganized! I'm really excited to talk to you :D

Love you /p!

Okay! I'll post about my AEs later, but I don't have time right now... D: Ttyl!  :D

Okay, I have about 10 minutes of free time, but that's alright--because I'm a pretty fast typer.

That's okay, you don't have to talk about it right now, if it's still too fresh. But remember--if you ever do, I'm here for you.

I'd like to get to know you better as well! What are some of your hobbies, and do you take any extracurriculars (like sports, or drama)? I'm part of my YMCA's swim team (technically the swim clinic, because the swim team was full when I joined), and I take vocal classes and I'm starting acting classes. When I'm an adult, I'd like to either be an actress, doctor, or author--maybe all three, if I can find time for it! What do you want to be when you grow up?

It's going well! My writing style (for this story at least) is sort of like The Girl Who Drank The Moon's writing style, and I'm having a great time writing it. But if I'm being honest, I've been so busy lately I haven't had much time to write. Also, I can't seem to find my document unless it's on my mom's computer--which is so weird, because it's on my account. Oh well, I'll figure it out! How is your writing project coming out? I recall that you mentioned you were doing NaNo this year, right? I'm sure it's coming along nicely!

And my AEs--I have developed them, but I have to admit that I haven't quite finished them. Right now, it seems like Cove is a copy of Cory, Reuby's AE. They look alike and both use the same pronouns--which was totally unintentional, of course! Anyway, I do have to finish developing them, so it'd be great if our AEs could talk some! Here are mine:

Caspian "Cass" (he/him) - He's quiet and aloof, an introvert all the way--kind of the nervous kind, but doesn't mind talking to a few people. He usually gets along best with other introverts, and enjoys geeking out over his obsession with Miraculous, which nobody is supposed to know about--although everyone does. He...Is definitely in desperate need of a social life, too. About 14-16 as well. I think he'd get along very well with Cal!

Lark, (she/her, questioning she/they) - Friendly, outgoing, very happy. Loves baking, singing, and songwriting--absolutely adores She-Ra and The Owl House. She's lonely and wants a girlfriend or an enbyfriend, but will never admit to it! Lark is about 14 years old. She LOVES Taylor Swift.

Wolfe (Biological male and uses he/him, but doesn't really care, so any) - Loud and obnoxious, has a soft spot for Lark. He enjoys listening to rock music and heavy metal, and enjoys playing guitar as well. He's about 17-18 years old and can sometimes be a jerk. They're bi.

Cove (Bio male, but uses they/them) - will update later, gtg!

Thank you! <3

Nice! Looks like we have some interests in common then. I'm not very good at sports, but I like running and yoga, and I walk around my neighborhood almost every day. I love music and participate in concert choir (a choir anyone can join) and select choir (a choir you have to audition for) at my school, and I am in the band program (I'm a keyboardist/pianist thinking of taking up mallets next year, which will be my freshman year of high school) as well. I'm definitely doing our school musical, which I always participate in, later this year. I take playwriting classes outside of school, and am participating in a special audition-only local choir as well. I have trouble deciding what I want to be when I grow up! I like the idea of being a therapist or otherwise pursuing a job that directly involves helping people, but I am also a creative at heart and would love a career in music, acting, or writing.

Great! I love The Girl Who Drank the Moon! Ooh, but I hope you're able to find your document soon. I definitely advise you to back up your novel by keeping it in a few different places if that's a problem for you! Although I'm one to talk; I keep most of my writing in one place and simply hope I don't lose it XD Yes, I'm doing National Novel Writing Month this year! It's going quite well for me and I am on track to meet my goal by the end of the month. I don't think my story is very good, but it's more about actually writing rather than writing well.

Okay! Yeah, I get unintentionally making your AEs too similar to other ones. However, I think it's mostly about personality rather than things like appearance and pronouns. If you feel like it's a problem, my AE Quinn is very stylish and can help Cove find their own style, though! That way Cove can feel like their own person and not a copy of Cory. It's probably fine if Cove's pronouns stay the same, and I personally never change my AEs pronouns just to do it. My AEs have tried out new sets of pronouns or gotten another pronoun added to their main set, but it's usually because I realized something about them - Quinn, for example, originally used she/they pronouns. Now, I know he's genderfluid and is most comfortable with she/he/they pronouns!

Wow, I see lots of possible bonds here with our AEs. Like I said, it might be fun to roleplay Quinn helping Cove find their personal style. For Wolfe, I feel like for the best development you'll want to give him a friend that's either pretty similar to him with some slight differences, or someone who is drastically different from him. I see Quinn connecting with him automatically, and them becoming good friends. But if you want something more challenging, we could try writing Wolfe and Indy becoming friends, instead. They're extremely different people, but I think it would help develop both of them. Cass and Cal might be good friends, like you said. Lark (awesome name btw) and Chai would make great friends, and if we're having them chat and like where it's going, maybe we could try shipping them? Chai is just turned 15 in September, which would mean she is older than Lark by a year. Are you comfortable with that? Also, I've read a little about Cove and I think they might make good friends with Indy! It also might be funny to make Callum and Wolfe enemies/frenemies (not in a serious way, just sort of a funny joke way, and I'm sure they'll come to be friends eventually).

Long story short, I have LOTS of ideas! How do you feel about my AEs and me hosting you and your AEs, so all our AEs can meet? We can still chat outside that rp, and there will be snacks!

I'm so glad we have so much in common! I'm going to be a freshman next year as well.

I agree! Last year, I didn't work on a novel in November because I didn't think I had a good enough story idea, but I've learned since then that it's not about trying to write a novel that's ready to publish, but to prepare you for publishing once you're older and have learned the basics.

Anyway, my AEs (and myself!) would love that. It sounds awesome! Do you want to create a separate thread, or just keep it here? (Also, Cove is going bananas--they love snacks!)

Awesome! I think we can just do it here. I'll start, if you like :]

*Quinn*

*So we're about to have people over. Peri just told us that. Random, but I'm still excited. I've been bored these past few weeks.*

*Chai is practically bouncing off the walls. She can't wait to "/Make new best friends\." Indigo is hiding. Callum is sighing more often than usual.*

*Peri is not happy. "Parody and her AEs will be here any minute, and this is how you're all behaving? Callum, go find Indy. I know she gets nervous around other people, but we'll be with her the whole time, and I made cookies, so I think they'll be okay. Chai, calm down, please. Yes, it's very exciting. I know you can't wait. How about you put on a movie to watch? … Yes. It can be Nimona." Peri seems to be the only one who can understand Chai when she's talking so fast she sounds like this: "/And - and I - and we need to - and can we - *SQUEAL* - and also - YAY!\" Once Chai has calmed down slightly and is happily watching a movie, she turns to me. "Can you put out the snacks, Quinn? They're in the kicthen. Put a few on the counter and the rest on the coffee table, please."*

*"*You got it.*" I do as I'm asked - the chips go on the coffee table, and the cookies go on the counter in the kitchen where Chai can't devour them immediately. I finish just in time, because the doorbell rings just as I'm walking back into the living room, where Cal is comforting Indy, who he's convinced to come out of her room, and Chai is noshing on some potato chips. "They're here!" Peri opens the door. Here we go!*

“Seriously, am I the first one ready?” I growl, stamping my foot in annoyance. “It’s not like it’s that hard to throw on a t-shirt just so we can go to someone’s house.”

“Please, go change, Wolfe,” Parody shouts at me from the other room. “You are not wearing that.”

I glance down at my outfit. I’m wearing a baggy shirt and baggy (but not saggy, I hate that style) pyjama pants. “I think it’s fine,” I argue, crossing my arms as I stare at the wall, waiting for her response.

She doesn’t answer, but Lark enters the living room and approaches where I’m standing next to our front doors. She smiles up at me brightly and says, “/Come on, I can help you pick out another outfit. Just follow me!/”

I sigh, defeated, not wanting to hurt Lark’s feelings. Now, don’t misunderstand me—if it was Cove or Delta or Caspian, I’d have no problems ignoring them—but Lark is the only person I have a soft spot for.

I obey, following Lark into my room. She doesn’t comment about the mess, but instead makes a beeline for my closet. In a moment, she emerges with an outfit twice her size; an oversized brown t-shirt with a white, skin-tight long-sleeve polo shirt. She also holds a pair of khakis. It’s not typically my stile, but it’s classy—and admittedly perfect for this occasion.

“/Do you like it?/” Lark asks, smiling up at me, her bright red hair (red, not orange) in two buns that flatter her face shape.

“I…love it. Thanks, Lark,” I say, grabbing a few necklaces and rings and putting them on.

Then, within a few more minutes, we’re walking out onto the driveway, followed by an exasperated Parody; “Guys, please, we’re already late. We have to go, now. Lark, please leave whatever it is inside. Same goes for you, Cove, Caspian, and Delta. Wolfe–start the car,” she says, handing me the keys.

I nod, noting the frustration and redness in her face. When Parody gets like this, it’s best to obey—sometimes if she gets too frustrated, she starts to tear up, and occasionally yell. So I start the car and get into the driver’s seat. Parody climbs into the passenger side, and I begin to drive.

After a short while, we arrive, and knock on the front door.

“^Can you put out the snacks, Quinn? They’re in the kitchen. Put a few on the counter and the rest of the coffee table, please,^” says a voice from inside. Another voice affirms this, and suddenly, the previous voice screams; “^They’re here!^”

~~~
I decided to end here—do you mind continuing? I’m not the best at writing from other peoples’ AEs perspectives (which is to say, I don’t like starting AE conversations!). Sorry! Also, so that RP us can talk with each other, maybe we could use these “^” (the little caret symbol) for when we’re talking in RP? Can’t wait for this to continue!
Callum
Comforting Indy has gotten easier than it used to be. Once I've gotten her to come out of their room, all I need to do is sit by her and remind them we're all here this whole time if she needs us.
The doorbell rings, and Peri declares "^They're here!^" In case it was not obvious. She opens it and greets everyone.
"^Hi, Parody! And co. I'm so happy to have you all here! Come in!^" They come in. I push my glasses up and look at our guests. I've heard of them, and can recognize a few of them. I know Quinn can recognize them all. Indy might remember them, but one of us will have to convince her to go talk to them. Chai probably forgot their names, but that won't stop her from going up and saying hi to all of them - which she does.
"/HI! I'm Chai! It's so nice to meet all of you! … What're your names?\"
I think I hear Quinn sigh. She smiles, though, and lifts themself off the couch. "*I'm Quinn. Nice to meet you all.*" She looks up at one who is significantly taller than them and smiles. "*Nice khakis. Wolfe, right?*" I can't quite tell if he's being sarcastic or not.
I go and stand next to Quinn, though I don't really want to. I'm not much of a people person. "Callum," I say simply. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, I guess. And that girl on the couch over there is Indy."
Quinn runs their hands through their hair - which is black with streaks of purple, short, and puffy. "*Let's get this party started,*" they say.
"Or something," I mumble.
Chai has approached a girl I'm pretty sure is Lark - her hair is red. Indy is sitting shyly on the couch; I decide not to bother them right now. Quinn is talking to Wolfe and Cove. Peri's said I should talk to Caspian. I don't have anything better to do, and we both look awkward, standing around by ourselves. "Hi," I say to him. It's all I have to say. Quinn's always been better at talking to people than me.
*Quinn*
*I hear Chai talking to Lark: "/I'm Chai! Want some candy??\" and smile to myself. I would like to talk to Cove and/or Wolfe, but I can't think of much to say. I already introduced myself. "*I love your style, Cove! You into hair dye?*" I tug at a strand of my own hair. "*I love dying my hair, and styling it. I did this haircut by myself,*" I say proudly. "*You ever want to change up your look, just come to me! And by the way, there's cookies in the kitchen. I'm going to go get one, if either of you would like to join me.*" I grin.*
***
There we are! I started a few conversations for you. Indigo's free, if you'd like to practice having your AEs introduce themselves to others; it's a good skill to have for parties and role plays, as I'm sure you know, but it's not always easy! I think Indigo would get along with any of your AEs. Personality wise, she's most like Caspian, but I also think it'd be interesting to have them talk to Wolfe. I bet Wolfe would grow to have sort of a soft spot for them, and it might help his development. Since you were worried that Cove looked to similar to Reuby's AE Cory, I introduced them to Quinn, the most stylish AE I've got, but Quinn could also have an interesting conversation with Wolfe. I want Chai and Lark to meet, so that's why I did that :] I don't really write other people's AEs, instead I just let the other person do that, and we ping pong back and forth. Does that work for you? I can write other people's AEs, I just usually don't because I don't want to be rude.
