KatydidParticipantIm changing Felicity's age to 15!!!
Felicity~
I wake up with a groggy yawn and sit up in bed. I have a dorm all to myself, for now at least. I throw off my covers and swing my legs over the edge of the bed. My thin nightgown is sticking to my legs from all my sweat. I let out a sigh and stand up. Too many covers again… I change into a simple blue dress and brush out my hair. Then i make breakfast and work on a new painting. I finish breakfast and paint a little more before heading out to the lake. I see Atla as a seal and go to sit on the edge of the lake. I sit on a dry, mostly clean, rock and remove my slippers, dipping my feet in the water. I have a small grin on my face, for no reason, as usual. Atla stares at me and i can't help looking back at her. Finally my smile fades and i say, "Hello." She blinks, then turns into a human again and says the same. I hold out my hand, "I'm Felicity Smog."
"I know," she says, "I'm Atla."
"I also know."
~~~~~~~
So i was thinking maybe Atla and Feliticy could become buddies?
Shadow DragonParticipantJunonia~
l wake up and find Marisol, my roommate awake.
"Hi!" She greets me, with a grin. l shyly smile back and jump off my bed. Marisol is making breakfast. l walk across the floor, feeling the soft carpet on my bare feet, to help her.
During the perperation of the food and all though the meal, Marisol tries to make conversation. l answer her questions but make no attempt to make a conversation and finally we lapse into silence.
After the meal, l change into a green dress and go out to take a walk in the morning air.
l stop to examine the flowers when another girl walks up to me.
Valeira~
l walk along the paths, swinging my axe and humming. The crisp, clear morning feels wonderful.
Rounding a bend, l see Atla by the lake, talking with a girl. l reconize her, Felicity Smog. Very shy she is.
l am curious as to what they are doing. Atla is my best friend, and she despises the other princesses. Very odd indeed.
"Hello!" I call to Atla, halfway to the lake. She looks up, suprised "Valeira! l didn't know you were around."
l grin at her. "Well, now l am. "
l run the rest of the way to the lake.
Felicity looks at my axe nervously and backs away a bit. Atla graps her wrist and pulls her to me. "Valeira, this is Felicity, Felicity, this is Val-" "I know who she is," I interrupt. "We've met before."
We go on arguing for a while, switching from one language to the next. Suddenly, I realize I'm actually enjoying myself. It's fun to have someone who totally understands what being a nerd is all about. Someone who actually cares. I smile, and say, suddenly, "You can borrow my books if you'd like."
"Wait what?!" The girl is obviously startled.
"You. Can. Borrow. My. Books. If. You'd. Like!" I repeat, slowly, "What's your name by the way?"
-
BrookeiraParticipantI greet Valeria and introduce her to Felicity. "Sorry if I come off as odd," I tell her, "I'm kind of feared. I'm the best mage at school, just like you're the best singer, and I can withstand Ricla's paralysis."
Felicity blushes at the "best singer" compliment and gasps about the "I'm not paralized by Ricla" comment. "Does she know?" Felicity asks in a hushed voice. "No," I say, "and I'd rather keep it that way."
The gong sounds for our first class. Blast, I forgot to check the schedule!
(BTW, Atla is actually one of the best at balancing act because she is very light, thin, and graceful.)
I really don't know how long we argued, but Lea suddenly stopped and reverted back to English. "You can borrow my books if you want."
Shocked doesn't even begin to how I felt. "Wait, what?!"
"You. Can. Borrow. My. Books. If. You. Like." Lea says this very slowly, as if implanting every word deeply in my brain.
"What's your name, by the way?" she adds.
"I'm, I'm Isis. " I'm still quite flustered, "You're Lea, right? And yes, YES, I'd love to share books! Thank you!"
And so, dear Diary, that is how my day turned around, slightly. Some of the classes were, lets say, rather stupid, but what not- I have found a friend.
Over The RainbowParticipantLilia~
We are sitting in Fashion class, where Princess Anna is givinbg a lecture on trimming. Anna is the only professor who acts like a kid herself. She bounces across the room as she speaks and uses slang. She is usually my favorite teacher, but today the class is boring.
Trimming. Lace trimming, satin trimming, ribbon trimming, where to put it, how to use it effectively…
I am so bored.
Saraphina slips me a note.
Trimming, shmimming. Get me outta here!
~Phi
I write a response and slip it back to here.
I know. So boring!
Hey, meet me outside in the courtyard after dinner.
~Lil
Why?
~Phi
I know how we can cheer ourselves up!
~Lil
Umm…how?
~Phi
One word: Fa-
Anna is looking over my shoulder.
"Lilia, there is to be no note-passing in class! Hand it over, missy!" Oh, man. I've never been caught passing notes before! "Oh, and stay behind after class." Adds Princess Anna.
She grabs the note from me and rips it up. She tosses the pieces into the trash can. She looks at me superiorly.
I hope class isn't over for a long time.
-
Daphne H.Participant♥Saraphina♥
Lilia's cheeks heat up. Princess Anna flips her hair suspiciously and sashays over to another group of students.
"Wow, nice job, Einstein." I nudge her elbow so she knows I'm joking. But Lilia stays completely still–she just stares at the wall in front of her like it's some fascinating art exhibit at the museum. I sigh and lightly blow upward to get a few strands of hair out of my face. The class starts passing around multicolored ribbons, needles, and plain white thread to practice trimming with.
I select a rose red ribbon for myself and a light green one for Lilia. She's still frozen and rigid at her desk. It'll pass. It always passes.
"Here, Lil," I say gently. She takes the ribbon from my fingertips gingerly, not moving any other muscles. "You know Anna. You're not in trouble. She's one of the good teachers." Lilia nods like a robot. "You'll be fine," I conclude.
After a few more minutes of attempting to trim, the bell rings. I pack up my stuff but stay at my desk while the population of the class quickly dwindles, leaving only three people left in the room.
Soon to be two.
"Saraphina, I'm sorry but you'll have to go. I need to speak with Lilia privately. Oh, you're going to be late for your next class–I'll write you a pass." Princess Anna produces a small pink pad of paper and a plume, and starts scribbling.
"But," I protest. Lilia looks at me with sad little heart melting puppy dog eyes. "Please, Miss."
"Get to class, Saraphina."
I really can't risk being late. I have a perfect attendance record. I look back at Lilia with pleading eyes.
"Oh all right," she says and rolls her eyes, "go."
"Thanks," I blurt out, relieved. "I'll talk to you at lunch, okay?" Princess Anna hands me the pass. I scramble out of the room and make my way to next period.
VTDear Diary,
"I can't believe those girls in sewing today," I tell Lea. "I mean, note-passing? Even with Professor Anna, that's such a bad idea."
Lea looks uncomfortable. "Welllll, yes, it's definitely not a good idea if you want absolutely perfect A++, but if you don't mind settling for mere A+'s, it's kinda fun."
"Fun!?!" I laugh.
Lea continues. "I mean, how many schools have you been to?"
"None. I've always had private tutors."
"See, that's what I mean. You really haven't learned how to have fun, have you?"
"Of course I have!" I cry indignantly. "Solving quadratic equations is fun. Memorizing Shakespeare is fun. I do too know how to have fun."
A snobbish looking girl over hears us and giggle nastily. "Lighten up, will ya?" she hisses.
-
Daphne H.ParticipantSaraphina
Right as I walk out of the classroom, I come face to face with a girl in my class, who's also walking in the hall. Her name's Isa or something. I barely know her.
"You know, you really shouldn't pass notes," she says. I stare at her in disbelief when I realize she's talking to me.
"Why not?" I ask confidently, but not in a mean way. She might be tall and I might be short, but I can still look her in the eye.
"Because," she says verrrryyyyy slowwwlyyy, exasperated. "If you want to get good grades, you have to follow the teacher's rules. Duh." Okay she didn't actually say duh, but I could see it in her eyes.
"I do get good grades." What's she getting at?
She laughs. I narrow my eyes. "What? I get straight As. A++s, actually."
The girl halts and looks taken aback. "But – but that's impossible!" she cries.
I cross my arms and peer up at her. She notices my hurt expression and quickly redoes her sentence.
"I mean – I shouldn't have said that. It's just…you're so…"
"So what?"
"I don't know." She sighs. "Extravagant, or whatever. You're, like, a real princess. I was being stereotypical."
"Yeah," I agree, "you were."
"I'm sorry," she says. "Really. What's your name?"
"Saraphina. Yours?"
"Isis."
"Pretty."
We begin to walk to class together. "So you really get straight A++s?" she asks again, skeptical.
"Yup. Do you?"
Isis nods. "What's your GPA?"
"A 4.8," I say. "You know, from extra credit."
"Seriously? Me too!"
"That's crazy!" I grin. "We're like the same person!"
"I know! Wait… I know something that you can't top," she says and smiles with pride. "I'm fluent in four different languages."
I give her a smile back. "Cool."
"Thanks. How many do you know?"
"It doesn't matter."
"Yes, it does. Tell me!"
I turn away, embarassed. "Seven," I mutter under my breath.
"I can't hear you," she urges.
I take a deep breath and look back at her. "SEVEN," I repeat.
Isis stares at me. "Seven different languages?"
"Yes," I say meekly.
She opens her mouth and closes it, then opens it again. "Which ones?"
I rattle them off. "English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Mandarin, and Russian. Eight, really if you count Elvish. I'm learning Indonesian right now, but I'm not fluent yet."
She shakes her head. "Wow, that's unbelievable… "
-
Abigail A.Participant14
VTI really like this post, Daphne. I do just have one clarification: Isis speaks lots more than 4 languages. Except, while it seems Saraphina speaks "real" languages, Isis speaks fantasy ones. She inhabits a world with countries like Hindeshe, Makner and Brenal and knows every one of their languages. I think I mentioned this in a earlier post???
-
Booksy OwlyParticipantI smile at Isis.
"I mean, it's not like I pass notes either, but I can understand why others do. You know? People who aren't classified as complete and total nerds."
She looks exasperated, and I hurry to change the subject.
"Do you want to, uh…"
Just then, a nother girl comes up to us. She completely ignores me, and starts talking to Isis. I sigh.. tipical. I stare at my feet and twiddle with my dress a sthey caht on and on and on…
-
Daphne H.ParticipantOh I'm sorry!! I remember in one of Atla's posts she said the "nerds" could speak 4 languages so that's what I used. I just assumed she was talking about you.
"Lilia Von Panoberg. Tisk, tisk", Anna says to me. "Lilia, you are a good student. You have never been in trouble in my class before. So now, why did you pass notes?"
Oh man! I'm stuck! I can't tell her that I was bored about trimming, but I can't lie to her. Ummm…
"Ummm…I needed to…arrange something…with Saraphina."
"And what was so important to arrange that it needed to happen during my interesting lecture?"
"Princess Anna?"
"Mm-hm?"
"If I told you something, would you tell someone else?"
"Possibly. It depends what you tell me."
"Well, I'm not going to tell the truth unless you don't tell anybody!"
"Lilia! I am a teacher! You may not speak to me like that!" She glares at me.
"Well…"
"Tell. It. To. Me."
Gosh, I've never been so scared of a princess before.
I blurt out, "Fairy sighting!"
"Really?" Interogates a skeptical Anna.
"Yes," I say sincerly.
"While that is very interesting, it has no place during class. Lilia, I hope you have learned your lesson."
"Yes, Ma'am."
"Now get on to Damsel in Disstressing. Oh, heres a pass."
"Thanks", I grumble, and head to my worst class.
-
BrookeiraParticipantAtla-
I wave goodbye to Val and Fel (I gave them nicknames) and dive into the water tunnel, morphing into seal form. I swim up the passageway into Damsel in Distress-ing. I chirp a "swear word" (it translates to fish-guts, but dolphins think that it's a very bad word) in Dolphinese (I know the human languages of English, German, French, Spanish, and Gaelic, and the fantasy and animal languages of Elvish, Klingon, Dolphinese, and Sealian). I pride myself that no one t this school (though Ricla probably speaks dark animal languages) speaks animal languages that I know of. And I know a lot.
"Now, girls," Rapunzel says, "today you will practice sitting perfectly still, in case you are ever locked in a tower."
I do that a lot. This sounds like a lesson I'll pass.
"Then you must scream as loudly as you can to alert your prince to your plight."
NO.
-
Lilia/OtRParticipantLilia~
Why must I be so bad at Damsel in Distressing class? I couldn't sit still, I'm very bad at sitting still. And then I got a C for not screaming loud enough. Oh, well.
-
Shadow DragonParticipantValeira~
l hate Damsel in Distress. l hate it more then words can say. It's so unnatural for me.
l am thinking that l just might survive this class, when Rapunzel tells us to scream as loud as we can.
Atla looks like she is going to slap someone. Junonia looks almost terrified. Most everyone else starts scream.
l am outraged. Me of all people, scream?! In an instant l am standing, with axe in hand. l raise the axe over my head and swing in into the chair l was sitting in. The blade sinks deep in wood, splinters flying everywhere. With a loud CRACK, two halves of the chair fall to the ground.
Junonia lets out the loudest scream yet and faints. Rapunzel marches toward me, eyes blazing. "Valeira D'a-" But l am not done. l flip my wrist back and let the axe fly.
It wizzes passed Rapunzel, missing her by an inch, and then sinks deep into the wall, quivering.
Rapunzel is madder than a hornet. "You- you- are the most-" A voice interrups.
-
Daphne H.Participant♥Saraphina♥
Well, this'll be easy. I sit in my chair doing my best to stay poised. Princess Rapunzel strolls by each desk and examines everyone to make sure they aren't moving. She knocks a few points off of a girl's grade just for blinking. Poor her. Rookie mistake.
"Stellar work as always, Saraphina," Princess Rapunzel comments. She jots something down on her clipboard, then pauses when she comes to Lilia, who's sitting right next to me.
"Good, Lilia. Very good. But don't look so stiff! Loosen up a little." She walks away, calling over her shoulder, "Keep it up!"
I jab my best friend's elbow. "Lil! Nice job! You totally nailed it."
She smiles at me, but just gives a little shrug. "Thanks… I guess."
I'm about to ask her what's wrong when Princess Rapunzel says, "Now scream! One, two –"
There's an uproar from the class. I let out a high pitched, clear shrill.
"That was fabulous!" Princess Rapunzel cries, tears swimming in her eyes. "I couldn't be prouder. Now, your grades for this assignment will be given one by one at my desk. Lilia, you're first up."
Lilia smiles nervously and stands up. I squeeze her arm. "Good luck!"
I sit for a few minutes, chatting with a few other girls. Lilia returns. "Well? How'd you do?"
"91. A-," she says while sitting back down.
"That's great!" I cheer.
She shrugs, just like she did before. I'm about to ask her what's wrong AGAIN when Princess Rapunzel calls me up. "Saraphina!"
"Coming, Miss," I say and hurry over to her desk.
"100, plus 10 bonus points for the outstanding posture. Best in the class. A++," she says.
I smile. "Thanks!"
"You earned it, Ms. Clarke."
"I bet you got an A+. Like usual," says Lilia when I catch up to her after the bell rings. "No, wait. A++."
"Oh come on, stop." I brush past her avoiding her eyes. "Let's just get to class, okay?"
-
Shadow DragonParticipantWe are having continuity issues.
-
OtRParticipantUmm, Daphne? In my installment I said that Lilia could not stay still, didn't scream loud enough, and got a C. You might want your best friend to seem like a really good student, but…Lilia Von Panoberg sticks to C's and B's in Damsel in Distress class.
