Ruby M.ParticipantI'd like to enter. I don't know what category I'd fall under better, so I wrote a poem about both sorrow and friendship. Judge it as either master's or apprentice, depending on where you think it fits better. There aren't many apprentice poems, it seems, so it can go as one of of those.
Upon the Northern Cape
Last time I saw you, you were taller than me by a head and a half and you said someday, I'd grow as tall as you or taller, so just wait, Janus.
I think I'm taller than you ever were. You were big in my mind, but you'd be small if I could find you and hug you.
If I could find you and hug you, you'd fold into my arms like a little bird or a little dream.
If I could find you.
If I wasn't standing upon the windswept northern cape.
If I knew where to began looking-
And if I found you, my friend, pale and sickly, locked in time forever,
You'd know that I would do anything for you.
I would fetch down the moon and stars if you and me could be set free from our monsters for a time.
If just for a moment, I want to go back to childhood and run with you in the palace once more.
If we could go back, we could sneak to the Earthbound ones again.
If we could go back, I'd hold your hand in the frozen forests so that I'd know where you always were.
If we could go back, I wouldn't be in this forest all alone.
If we could go back…. who is we? Go back to what?
I must find the answer
I must search
If I only knew what my answer was-
The answer is a dream, a jewel, a frozen flame.
It will bring my great happiness if I find it.
It's the way to get something important.
I take it for myself
I take it for Kid
Kid, Kid, the girl who seems so familiar and is looking for her family
If only she and I knew who our family were-
I don't know. I don't know anything.
I'm looking.
I don't know what I'm looking for.
Perhaps a mercenary.
Perhaps a jewel.
Perhaps a friend.
Perhaps a dream.
Perhaps time itself.
I don't know who or what I am.
I know the name the woman gave me.
She calls me Magil.
She says I watch over her.
Her and her children.
Her and the girl Kid.
I don't remember Kid. Did I know her from a dream?
She says that I promised to take care of her.
She is dead, now.
Am I looking for the dead woman?
I don't know, but it's a beginning. I will look for her.
I think I'll look for a long time.

JakkuThis poem…hurt. Like, it hurt me to read it. I don't have the words for how it made me feel, but good job. (Side note: it was relatable for me, even though it seems to be about a fictional world.)
-
Mei-xi (May-shee)ParticipantDefinitely the higher level. That's really good!
-
Ruby M.ParticipantThanks for the compliments. This poem is about a trio of games I've been playing recently that take place in parallel universes. In one universe, a man, Janus, lost his dear older sister to a monster and begins searching for her. All the alternate universe hims know they're looking for something, but they don't know for what or for whom.
On a side note, you should all play Chrono Trigger. It's fantastic, and once you add on Radical Dreamers and Chrono Cross, it becomes very very sad.

Over the RainbowParticipantI'm going to enter the lower level, because I don't trust myself to be good enough in master's.
Untitled
Me: New fledgeling, just been pushed,
out of my cozy-home nest.
You: Quick comfort, reassuring smile,
Wing to nest under in those first
Scary-hall, lonely-bubble days.
Me: Can I trust you?
Will there be trust tomorrow, next week?
Will you be a forever, never-letting-go
Companion?
You: Sure,
Now listen–
Ground rules–
Don't give up for me.
Hang on to me.
Do what I do, say what I say.
Don’t spread gossip 'bout me, do spread juice.
Never doubt.
Ever.
Me: You, too? You will do these things?
You: Blink
Wait and see…
But then, like a slippery worm squirming from my beak, the thought of friendship with you is…
Away.
Me: Kind was never your style, I can tell.
Use your dazzling smile somewhere else.
I will pop my lonely-bubble for myself.

@Admins
I'm sorry if the formattting/font/size of the poem is weird. I wrote it on a Google doc, then copy-pasted. Please, try to keep the italicized lines like that.
-
Cho C.Participant@Otr, I use Google docs here too sometimes, and the formatting turns out fine, except for the italic. That never turns out right.
-
OtRParticipantOK, thanks. I'm going to resubmit it, but I'll write the italicized lines in the comment box.

MTErm. I would like to enter lower level. Can I? I am reeeeally bad at poetry. If I can enter here is my poem.
Friends.
You left me. You left me to be that girl. That girl that tosses her hair. That girl that goes to the mall. That girl that would never do the daring things we used to do. Or even bike in the country. Who would have known my best friend would have turned into the girl that paints her nails every day? Or that girl that is friends with everyone. At least, everyone now but me.

When I say 2011, you would laugh because it's funny to us.
but the world gives cold stares
When I say sugar cookies you'd get it, but I can trust
that the world just wouldn't care
And when I say "the other end" you LOL 'till you can't breath
but the world doesn't understand
When I mention freezing pools we'd crack up, you and me
because that's the magic of being friends
Youre always there,
when the world's not fair
and when my heart has a tear
I need you like air
We depend on each other
my best friend like no other
sisters with different mothers
different hair and different brothers
but we are the same
you're forever in my brain
and you help me through the pain
through the fire and the rain.
Friends.
