Crossquill Library, KyngdomTucked away in a peaceful woodland clearing at the crossroads of Kyngdom, the Crossquill Library is more than just a place for books—it’s a haven for travelers, a gathering spot for friends, and a hidden gem for those in the know.
On the outside, it appears to be a grand storybook mansion-turned-cottage, with stone brick walls, a dark gray shingled roof, smoke curling from the chimney, and charm in every corner. Step inside, and you will find warmth, comfort, and a book-lover’s paradise.
What can you expect here? Well, you can:
Order a drink and snack from the in-house café, sink into a beanbag by the fire, or flip through shelves filled with fiction, history, lore, and Resistance records.
Meet all sorts of people—humans, animals, plenty of travelers, and the occasional Nobyl, who all come here to share tales, trade news, or simply enjoy a moment of peace.
Explore three floors of wonder, from a welcoming main floor with yours truly at your service, to an animal-filled story loft, to a top-secret archive only accessible via codeword where Resistance members and trusted Nobyls meet in private.
Not too far from Bog & Burrow Inn and two major cities, Crossquill is hidden, but not far from the roads most travelers pass by.
Whether you’re dropping by for a story, a snack, or a secret meeting, Crossquill Library is the perfect place to rest, reconnect, and discover your next chapter.
The crossroads of Kyngdom awaits.
– From the Crossquill Librarian
This is a low-stakes RP similar to Bog & Burrow Inn where you can introduce new characters (or use old characters that are not currently active) to stop by this library. It’s a great place for new Kyngdomers to start (especially if you feel daunted by the prospect of joining other RPs such as the Nobyl RP or the BIG Academy RP), to learn more about Kyngdom through its books or simply have a casual interaction. You can introduce your character with the Who’s Here thread or simply in this RP, with the form below:
Name:
Pronouns:
Species:
Personality:
Appearance:
Background:
Additional Information:
(Optional) How you came across the library:If your character already exists, you can simply introduce them by name and pronouns (or fill the form if you like filling out forms).
I’ll post a more detailed version of the library later, though for the most part, you can make up individual details outside of what’s written (such as what the cafe serves, which is probably just about anything that seems cafe-related). Any suggestions or feedback on how to improve are welcome! I’ll come back with my librarian charrie and their form (and maybe a lot of the characters that I created that are not doing anything at the moment, such as Celestia and Starlight). Anyways, I hope you enjoy Crossquill Library!

PoinsettiaGuestoooooh this rp is such a great idea
Zara is a character I was using in the Nobyl RP, but she’s not really active anymore and she’s on a journey, so she seems like a good fit for this RP
Name: Zara pur Almeria
Pronouns: she/her
Species: human
Personality: kind of quiet, sweet, fun, friendly
Appearance: smooth dark hair, big dark almond eyes, suntanned skin, a little small for her age and moves like she’s dancing
Background: she was a wealthy Nobyl, but her palace was invaded and she had to flee with her family, living in a forest. when she realized that Catastrophe’s soldiers were in the vicinity, she took off again, heading off to join the Resistance.
Additional Information: she’s arrived with her father and two brothers
(Optional) How you came across the library: she arrived as she was journeying with her father and brothers, fleeing from the aforementioned soldiersZara pushed open the door and crept in.
She’d left the others sitting by a makeshift fire in the woods; they’d made a stop for the afternoon. the woods were very peaceful. A bird called now and again, but the cloudy day was full of tranquility. After eating the meal they’d bought in a nearby town, Zara had felt refreshed and energetic. She left the others dozing and went exploring, stepping lightly among the trees in search of something interesting.
ANd then shed seen this beautiful building. It wasn’t terribly conspicuous – it looked a bit like a cottage, except that it was quite large. Like the woods, it seemed quiet and peaceful, almost as if it too were dozing. She walked a bit closer, examining it.
Her father would probably tell her to be careful in this unfamiliar situation, but there were no soldiers, no guards, no atmosphere of ominous malice. She felt that she could trust this place, that here she was safe.
Just then she came upon a little back door. Cautiously she went over and crept through it.
She found herself in a small room with a wooden floor. A broom stood in one corner, but it looked as though this were a forgotten room where few people ever came. Watery sunlight streamed in through the window. There was a pleasant smell of something baking.
Beyond this room was a hall, and Zara followed it until she came to a cafe, where the delicious smell was stronger than ever.

SeadragonGuestI think my charrie Elmira (of the Nobyl RP) would love this RP, except she can’t be in two places at once, so I will create a new one.
I’ll write something eventually (tomorrow, maybe).
Name: Liza Letterson
Pronouns: she/her/hers
Species: human
Personality: She likes to wander and meet people; she writes in a journal and might like to become an author if she ever settles down. She’s not extremely chatty, but quite socially adept and can keep a secret very well. She’s great at getting people to talk to her and likes to help people.
Appearance: tall and stocky, with long brown hair, blue-green eyes, and tan skin. She likes to wear a pair of light-brown leather ankle boots with turquoise laces, and carries a messenger bag with turquoise stitching in the same color of leather.
Background: When she was seven, her parents, who were active in the Resistance, were killed by Catastrophe. She moved in with an aunt who died when she was seventeen. Soon after, she left Mer to wander Kyngdom. She has been wandering ever since; she’s been semi-active in the Resistance since she was a teenager.
Additional Information: She might like to help out in the library whenever she’s around, though she wouldn’t want to take a full-time job.
(Optional) How you came across the library: She found it on her travels. -

Crossquill Library, KyngdomIn the crossroads of Kyngdom, where people of all kinds—a few Nobyls, plenty of travelers, animals of all kinds, and the everyday person—went about their usual business, a secluded clearing surrounded by woodland gave room to house a brand new library. To some, it appeared to be a cozy and charming corner where you could curl up with a book and have chats with your friends. To others, it was a grand mansion where one could exchange news as a new secret hotspot for the Resistance.
Located below the Great Forest, to the left of Olde Windswood, to the right of Jokurl, above Rainefall, and diagonal from Green Hills, the Crossquill Library is in the crossroads of travelers all over Kyngdom, yet hidden away in a stretch of green with woodland that overlapped with trees from the Great Forest and Olde Windswood. Not too far from Bog & Burrow Inn, it is a wonderful place to silently rehearse lines for a show or borrow books for intermissions in between performances. The Crossquill Library has good relations with Bog & Burrow, with potential of holding collaborative events in the future.
Upon entering the clearing of the woodland, you would gaze upon a hybrid between a cottage and a mansion, a three-story building with a dark gray cross-gabled wood shingled roof and stone brick walls, as well as a chimney with smoke billowing out of it, often during wintertimes when a fire was going or when something was cooking. A diamond-shaped logo with a pair of crossed quills (hence its name) along with a sign that reads Crossquill Library is visible just above the front entrance. The best term to summarize the exterior would be a grand cottage.
On the inside, there is a center desk with the main librarian, a homo avian who is fluent in the languages of both humans and animals. If you have any questions about books, want to know more about Kyngdom as a traveler, or just want to have a friendly chat, you can always come up to the librarian. Tables and chairs are placed around for people to chat or read, along with plenty of friendly faces ready to help a traveler in need of directions, activities, or simply to talk. A cafe is in the corner of the library for anyone to grab a cup of coffee, tea, or other preferred beverage, as well as snacks. Beanbag chairs, blankets, and other untraditional but comfy seating was near the back, where it was mostly quiet except for the flipping of pages. But most importantly of all, the walls were lined with books. Books upon books lined the shelves, with sections of fiction, science (nonfiction), mythology, lore, and more. Biographies, romance novels, recipes, Resistance commentaries, leaked plans of Catastrophe, you name it, all of it could be found there.
And if you go up the spiral staircase to the next level, it would be filled with animals of all shapes and sizes, from squirrels to badgers to owls to foxes, reading books (or scrolls) of stories and tales in their own language, and exchanging myths passed down only through word of mouth. The whole floor has a harmony made up of purrs of contentment, the flutter of wings, and stories being told in all sorts of animal voices—never a dull nor completely silent moment.
Lastly, the top floor is simply an archive of dusty old history books—at least, to everyone else. While the library as a whole is full of people from all sorts of backgrounds and allegiances, mainly Resistance-aligned, the archives is specifically a place for Resistance members, including a select few Nobyls, to discuss plans where no one else can approach without special permission from the librarian. But upon speaking a codeword, the mystery of the archives and more would be revealed.Overall, the Crossquill Library is a perfect place for travelers to take a break hidden away from the bustle of the cities, yet not too far from the main paths, and a great spot to introduce new characters into the world of Kyngdom before they figure out their purpose or go off to explore the wide world.

Crossquill Library, KyngdomLibrarian form~
Name: Aquila Briarwyn
Pronouns: she/they
Species: homo avian
Personality: Kind, welcoming, warm, humorous, quite different from her youth (which they claim that she was quite wild, fierce, and free-spirited), always ready to offer help, wise, and to those closer to them, clever, quick-witted, quirky, and quick to laugh and smile. She is very slow to anger, but when they are, they are incredibly scary.
Appearance: Short, slightly curly, brown hair in a bob with a sliver of white hair, silver-gray eyes that are friendly most of the time but stormy when serious or angry, wings that resemble that of a golden eagle, and a beige skin tone with a few scars from their time as a traveler, appears younger but is around middle-aged or so, usually wears diamond shaped earrings, one turquoise one gold, a light brown buttonless cardigan, a shirt that is either light green or pale sky blue with the Crossquill Library logo, brown cargo pants, and either black or dark brown lace up boots. She usually holds a quill and has a welcoming smile on their face.
Background: (full thing is in Who’s Here) She used to be a traveler but retired and started their own library, becoming a librarian.
Additional Information: She convinced Celestia to help them with library shifts so she’s not as tired.
(Optional) How you came across the library: They created it 🙂Name: Celestia Lunarsong
Pronouns: she/her
Species: homo lupus
Personality: a bit mysterious, doesn’t easily trust others, however overall kind and hoping to bring peace to Kyngdom through small ways
Appearance: a silver wolf with fur that glimmers a bit like the stars, one white forepaw, a dark moon-shaped patch on her forehead, blueish-purple eyes, silver wings that are slightly transparent; as a human she has silvery-white hair that fades to a dark midnight purple and same blueish-purple eyes
Background: She spends most of her time in forests, collecting information on the Resistance and the Catastrophe (for a purpose I have yet to decide on).
Additional Information: She was convinced by Aquila to help out at the library for potential leads and information. She will likely be in human form if your charrie is human (or humanoid), can transform into wolf if she’s talking to an animal.
(Optional) How you came across the library: See above ^^]Aquila[
It was a quieter day than usual at the Crossquill Library, with the sunlight streaming through the forest surrounding the library casting a wonderful atmosphere, a great day to read, if Aquila could say so themself. She felt less tired, especially now that they had convinced Celestia to take shifts at the library for potential leads on Catastrophe and Resistance, or whatever Celestia was looking for. They weren’t quite sure. Either way, it was nice to have someone else to help out. She glanced down at their book, enjoying the library atmosphere and waiting for customers.-Celestia-
Celestia sighed, glancing around the library cafe. She wasn’t entirely sure how she ended up here, but she was hoping that helping out at the library could lead to potential information being discovered, especially since how the Crossquill Library was a Resistance hotspot, or so Aquila claimed.Celestia became alert when she noticed a customer enter. It was a human, and she appeared to be a Nobyl of sorts. She tried to think about the information she had collected about Resistance members, as well as the contents of the letters which Kalisse sent Celestia about Nobyls and Resistance. It didn’t matter, she supposed.
“Welcome to the Crossquill Library Cafe!” she greeted. “Would you like something to eat or drink?”

AmethystGuestdeep in KyngdomNot sure where this charrie is going, to be quite honest :p But then, I suppose the fun is finding out?
Name: Cearon Kindle
Pronouns: he/him
Species: human
Personality: Friendly on the surface, but slow to trust deep down. More reckless than he likes to think. A bookworm, never obtrusive, chatty in the right moments; a quiet, polite boy with no real ambition or place.
Appearance: Black hair, gray eyes, medium height, a quiet, oddly charming air
Background: He was born to a middle-class family who, though kind enough, were adamant that he do something immensely special. He was well educated, though his knowledge of Kyngdom’s political situation is due more to his own observations than to anyone telling him, and he’s now wandering through Kyngdom, trying to find out what he’s going to do with his life.
Additional Information: He’s about twenty, has no affiliation with Catastrophe or the Resistance, and is deeper than he seems.
(Optional) How you came across the library: He stumbled across it in the course of his travels, accidentally.

SeadragonGuest~Liza~
When Liza came upon the library, she couldn’t really say that she had been looking for it, nor could she say that she hadn’t been.
She had been walking, after staying a nice night in Rainefall, energized by the tasty breakfast she had had at the inn. Liza didn’t carry food, but she had a very good knowledge of edible plants and one pot, which was also a plate, bowl, frying pan, and even tea mug when it had to be, as well as quite a few matches. Usually, she would hop from inn to inn, staying more than a night if she liked the town, but when she couldn’t find an inn, she slept in a makeshift shelter and found her own food. While she never went hungry, and was thankful for the plants she found, many of those meals had been horrible, tasteless boiled greens.
Anyway, she had been walking along the road, and she had suddenly felt like she ought to go into the woods. Several times, in various places, she had heard that this was the location of the Crossquill Library, which reportedly had an amazing book collection, archives about the Resistance, and the best cafe for miles around. However, Liza couldn’t say if she wanted to visit the library, specifically, or just felt like taking a wander off the road, which she did sometimes.
Whatever the reason, Liza stepped off of the road and into the trees. She threaded her way through until she came to what, on first sight, appeared to be a large, beautiful cottage. cottage. It was built of gray stone bricks, which made the cottage look a little like it could have been a large pile of rocks. Liza couldn’t quite put her finger on how, but the cottage had a way of looking organic, like it had grown from the forest rather than been built.
She looked up at the library again (she knew it was the library now, from the sign and the logo). Her mother had loved books, filling the house with them. She had gone so far as to write an inventory, so that she always knew exactly where each one was and why she had liked it. She always had a book with her when she was traveling; after she died, a stricken, seven-year-old Liza had compared the log to the house bookshelves and ascertained the one that she was carrying when she was killed, a book of Kyngdom myths and legends. Liza had promptly begged her aunt to buy that book for her; her aunt, also eye-deep in grief, had obliged. Now Liza carried a copy of it everywhere she went. Liza loved books, too; she felt like that connected her to her mother.
This was the thought with which Liza entered the library.
The interior of the first floor was amazingly beautiful. It smelled perfect, like books and ink, and though Liza could tell that this wasn’t a stifling sort of library where you got shushed to oblivion, it was pleasingly quiet. Liza liked conversation, but she also liked when a space was so revered that no one spoke louder than they had to.
“Welcome,” said the librarian from her desk, raising their eyes from her book to look at Liza. “If you need anything, I’ll be here.” She spoke in a voice of medium volume; it carried.
“Thank you,” said Liza, trying to cultivate the same sort of voice.
She spun around once, slowly, soaking in the atmosphere, and then headed towards the shelves to choose a book. -
AmethystGuestcheers for the Kyngdom+Cearon+
Cearon had gone from Olde Windswood to the Great Forest, and now he was turning back again to wander southwards through Kyngdom. He relaxed as he walked through the clear woodlands, the vibrancy of the road making him happy. Birds twittered, hidden musicians dedicated to making the world a little more magical, and something in their song – and in the place – made him remember something. It was just a snippet of thought from somewhere; he couldn’t even remember why he should remember it. But hadn’t he heard stories about a library hidden away close to the road in this part of Kyngdom? Well, here went nothing. He didn’t really expect to find it as he turned off the road, but he liked the idea of a stroll through the forest itself.
Luck was with him, though. He hadn’t gone far before the woods suddenly opened up, and, out of nowhere, as if it had been summoned by a spell, was the Crossquill Library. It had to be the Crossquill Library; it was large and yet had all the comfortable qualities of a cottage, and it was friendly but had all the greatness of a palace. He walked closer, drawn to it in an odd way, as if it had reached out and said hello to him. Soft, short grass sank soundlessly under his boots, and sunlight poured brightly into the clearing with far more strength than in the denser parts of the forest. A sign above the doorway proclaimed “Crossquill Library”, with a strange logo – was it crossed quills? Cearon smiled at the quaint cleverness of it, surprising himself, and pushed open the door.
It was brighter inside the library than he’d expected, with an essence in the air that he couldn’t identify, and which was completely unrelated to the alternating stiff, stuffy, or overpoweringly formal vibes of libraries he’d been in before. This place was obviously devoted heart and soul to BOOKS, the magic of books, the fragrance of yellow pages in leather-bound books, the fullness of books, the love of books, the portals which all books were. The librarian greeted him quietly, and he nodded in her direction before heading off towards the nearest shelf.
It was fairly empty; the only people he could see was a tall girl and the librarian, though the faintest chatter of voices could be heard, like sounds from another world, probably from some other area of the library. Cearon scanned the shelves, which seemed to be mostly history and science and Treatises on Important Things. He turned around and headed for another section, which was all about navigation. There were so many books here; the whole place was steeped in them, though it wasn’t overwhelming. Where were the novels, though?
He turned around and saw a girl entering the room, pretty and mysterious with something shimmering in her eyes. She seemed to work here, and he approached her after a moment. “Excuse me,” he said. “Could you direct me to the fiction section?”

Crossquill Library, Kyngdom@Amethyst I’m assuming you’re talking to Celestia. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
-Celestia-
After attending to the customer, the cafe seemed to be quiet once more, so Celestia decided to step out into the rest of the library. She breathed in the welcoming scent of books and woodland, grudgingly admitting to herself that Aquila knew what she was doing when they invited Celestia to work at the library.“Excuse me. Could you direct me to the fiction section?”
Celestia glanced over, and saw a young man with dark hair (Celestia noted that he appeared to be human as well, but who knew? After all, there were plenty of hybrids like Aquila and herself).
“Of course,” she replied. Celestia glanced around the library, understanding why one would certainly feel quite lost with the many bookshelves to choose from. Luckily, she herself remembered where Aquila had told her where each section was. As she walked with him towards the start of the fiction section in a corner where the sunlight shone through windows and lit up everything in a cozy lightning. It was quite a large section – after all, which library didn’t have a large fiction section in their shelves? “Is this your first time?” she asked.

AmethystGuestcheers for the Kyngdom@Moon Wolf, yes, I was talking about Celestia:)
+Cearon+
“Of course,” the girl replied. She took a look around and headed off confidently in one direction; evidently, Cearon thought with relief, she was employed here. The fiction section was in one of the prettiest parts of the library (not that Cearon was in any state to pick favorites – the whole place was so beautiful), with sunlight drifting warmly through the windows and making everything look bright and cheerful. “Is this your first time?” the girl inquired.
Cearon turned from staring happily at the myriad books – there were so many books!!! – to focus on her instead. “Yes, actually,” he said. “I’d heard of it before, but I’ve never really been in this part of Kyngdom, so I’d never had a chance to see it. It’s amazing, really.” And then, out of curiousity, he added, “How did it start? Why is it in the middle of the forest? If there’s any particular reason.”
